Executive Summary:
Objective:
The objective of our senior project is to develop portable lab equipment and software interface for first year college students. The idea of our project is to allow portability and convenience for students to perform basic electronic labs at home. It is meant as a learning tool to generate a comprehensive, hands-on guide for students to use on their own time, while still being cost effective. Our project will utilize the 68HC12 Axiom board, custom built variable power supply and function generator, LCD, and keypad, interfaced with a PC using custom built oscilloscope software and a Graphical User Interface (GUI).
Our project will employ a high level programming language using C++ for the development of the oscilloscope data, graphs, and mathematical operations. Our project will use Visual Basic to develop the GUI that will display information and allow a menu selection for the components being used, such as the waveform and frequency. It will also incorporate Assembly language to communicate between the 68HC12 and the PC.
Block Diagram:
Application:
The project will first require a password using the keypad and displaying a confirmation on the LCD. It will then require the setting of the desired voltage on the power supply, which can be checked on the LCD. The function generator will be responsible for generating the pref...

The electronic junkyard as yahoo news quite nicely framed it, has an exotic display of millions and millions of electronics and electronic parts (dubbed “e-waste”), some recyclable others junk. The recent surge of electronics has people bewildered on the newest craze or the newest design of the iPhone. Even though technologically, we, the small number of people who have some experience and comprehension of electronics understand that these new “craze” products have nearly similar technical hardware then their predecessor versions. Hence it is irrational (even as the name suggests, “craze”) to purchase the newer models. This so-called eradication (so the consumers think) of these old electronics and purchase of newer models are all due to human vanity or in many cases greed. It is almost impossible for these masses to subdue their greed and vanity and instead, rely on almost perfectly functioning “older” electronics.
There are currently three Computing Laboratories available: Harvill 332b (houses a 31-station Pentium III based Windows 2000 instructional lab), Gould-Simpson 228 (contains a 50-station Xterm & Pentium III based Windows 2000 instructional lab), and the Research Lab in Gould-Simpson 748/756. Students receive accounts on both the main instructional machine, Lectura, (a multiprocessor, Sun SparcServer running the Solaris operating system), and on the Windows 2000 network. All systems have access to 100Mb switched Ethernet connections and direct Internet connectivity. The Gould-Simpson Research Lab contains numerous Pentium III Windows 2000/Linux OS systems, specialized printers, graphics devices, and PC clusters.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd has unveiled a new and possibly controversial strategy that involves more collaboration in the early stages of the IC design process.
The information technologies department is improving itself by integrating the newest solution for customer relationship management (CRM). The hardware replacement project (HRP) for this addition includes five major variables. These variables are time, costs, scope, quality, and risk. Many thoughts are worth considering and taking into account when choosing the best projects, and they are important to have the most worthwhile final results for the business. The issues that affect project risks need to be discussed, and I can recommend ways to carry out this project with the minimum of necessary risk. Altogether, I will outline the best way to prepare for and supervise the HRP.
Laptops prove that it is useful to students in its convenience to conduct research, type projects, and relay messages to classmates quickly and efficiently through social networking. For example, informing a classmate about a major project. The information on this project sent via E-mail makes it more efficient than to explain over the telephone. With much consideration, a new recommendation made to students is the HP Pavilion dv4 laptop. This laptop completed with its software bundle and long-lasting battery proves a useful asset to students during their school year due to its performance, its features, and its price. This gives students the incentive to purchase this product.
This project makes use of a microcontroller-based circuitry for decision making such as password checking and device control. The microcontroller used here is microchip make PIC series IC 16F870.
As a Computer Science student in Computer Engineering/Computer Science 285, I’ve grown to appreciate using a prototype board to get through the class. As a person more inclined to software than to hardware, the sixteen-week journey has been a process. Part of my appreciation comes from my curiosity in the equipment of this class, in learning about other components and the potential the board had. Learning not only about the 8051 microcontroller and board but also how to deal with it.
The Whirlwind computer had a video display that was controlled interactively by a light gun. The display attracted users much more than computer code. The Whirlwind computer became the basis for SAGE (Semi-Automatic Ground Environment), a defense command-and-control system developed for the Air force. In the 1960s Ivan Sutherland’s MIT doctoral thesis introduced a Sketchpad interactive drawing system, which established the theoretical groundwork for computer graphics software (Machover 14). In the mid-1960s, computer graphics was booming in private industry. General Motors had released DAC-1 a computer-aided design system, and Itek developed the Digigraphics electronic drafting machine. By the late 1960s the first storage-tube display terminals appeared, shortly followed by direct-view storage tube display terminals (DVST) which cost thousands of dollars; however this was an improvement to the tens to hundreds of thousands spent initially for display systems. In the 1970s Turnkey systems emerged, beforehand users had to develop software to make their hardware work however turnkey systems provided a haven to users from software issues. Bit-mapped raster displays developed as memory...
In implementing a computer-based information system, one of the components needed is hardware. Hardware is the equipment that we used in performing the necessary computations. Examples of hardware equipment are input devices; mouse, keyboard and etc., processor such as read-only memory (ROM) and random access memory (RAM), and output devices; printer, scanner and etc.. How does ...
Technologies such as projectors, computers, and handheld devices have become a huge part of today’s educational movement. Computers have been in constant evolution since the beginning of their existence. They now provide easy, effective, and efficient learning in classrooms across America. Projecto...
This proposal identifies the need for a document, which will propose and develop reasons why a for-profit transportation service for Kent should be perused. This service should be considered because of the recent parking and commuting problems both on and off campus.

The Semiconductor Manufacturing Industry The specific industry that will be referred to will be the semiconductor manufacturing industry. This industry emerged after World War II, first in the Boston area and then moved westwards into California during the 1950s. Reasons for locating in such areas include flat land, temperature, stable economy, steady government scene, accessible to markets, available raw materials and high skilled labour. Because the industry is high tech it has meant that these factors are decreasing in importance and factors such as the environment, government assistance and cleanliness are changing the pattern of semiconductor manufacturer locations. The semiconductor industry first emerged in the U.S.A, it spread from the east coast to the west coast within a decade.
