What is scientific method? Scientific method is a process which we find something natural world act as a models that can be confirmed scientifically. This process requires observations, collecting data and analysing data so that can be duplicated by the other scientists. For example, if we’re at new places or environment, we observe first through our senses to learn or adapt with the new environment. Then, we automatically make a hypothesis related to the observation. A hypothesis is a prediction or assumption. If the prediction is true, the hypothesis can be used as a tool for prediction, but it is not confirmed yet because it is from our mind (subjective) Therefore, scientific method uses inductive and deducting reasoning in order to produce useful and reliable models of natural phenomena and nature. The reason of doing inductive reasoning is to develop a general hypothesis or theory, while the uses of a theory to explain specific results are what deductive reasoning meaning is. In 1637 René Descartes published his Discours de la Méthode in which he described systematic rules for determining what is true, thereby establishing the principles of the scientific method. There are four steps in the scientific methods. First of all, an observation and description of a phenomenon. The observation is made visually and aided by apparatus. Secondly is making a hypothesis in order to predict what the result that we will earn is. Thirdly, test the hypothesis by experimenting, predicting and observation of the new phenomena that follow from the hypothesis. If the experiment is failed, then the hypothesis is rejected. Thus, the hypothesis must be rejected or be modified. Meanwhile, if the hypothesis is accepted, a theory based on the repeate... ... middle of paper ... ... the truth, but it will also identify the error before the truth is determined. Therefore, if we didn’t do the scientific method (observation, making hypothesis and analyse), we will never know what’s the truth. Besides, we also will never approach the truth if we are just making assumptions. Obviously, the first of one’s understanding is important in establishing personal motivation. Conclusively, the scientific method is something about observation, measurable events that can be reproduced. It is also applicable of random events that have statistical distribution. This shows that the method is versatile. Moreover, it relies on critical thinking. It is the process of questioning common thoughts or prediction and beliefs and elaboration to figure out hypothesis and thoughts which were evidence less and rational. Evidence is a proof concerning a matter in question.
