Throughout our daily lives and life in general, we are often faced with numerous decisions that are important, decisions that can, and often do, determine an unforeseen future. The choices, some virtually identical, lead to different destinies and at times leave us asking ourselves the question of "what if?". Hardly will there ever be signs telling us the way to go or the choice to make, even less so the correct choice to make; we must find out what lies ahead for ourselves. In the poem "The Road Not Taken," author Robert Frost relates to the us, the reader, such a choice in a symbolic way representing perhaps any major decision in life. Symbolizing the power of many possibilities and circumstances in life is the fact that the decision made between two paths, which initially seemed so equal, can and will make all the difference. We come to the conclusion that “way” does really “lead on to way”, and usually there is no returning back. Though a path in life that may seem very similar to another always contains subtle differences that usually lead to different outcomes. Humans live in uncertainty making it difficult for an individual to be completely happy with the path they choose to take in life. Though an individual may gain many opportunities along the way, the fact is that individual will never know what could have been if he would of chose the other road and will never know what he may have missed in the journey of life, always leaving him wondering of “The Road Not Taken”.
