American citizens should legally be permitted to carry a concealed fire army without a permit. The second Amendment to the United States constitution guarantees our rights as American citizens to bear arms. Yet overly strict concealed carry laws prevent us from doing so. It is in fact these laws which cause much of the violent crime in America. These laws also keep citizens from being able to protect themselves from potential threats. If citizens could carry concealed fire arms without permits there would be less crime and fewer death of innocent people. For example many states have been moving towards less gun control and the effects not surprisingly have positive impacts on personal safety. As more and more states are legalizing concealed carry with permits statistics are showing that less gun control proves to be more effective at lowering the crime rates in which gun control laws were set to lower in the first place. There are bounteous reports of everyday citizens being able to protect themselves from attackers due to carrying a concealed firearm. If permits were not needed even more Americans would be able to protect themselves. Facts like these lead one to question why such strict concealed carry laws have been enacted.
The gun was first seen in history in China some thousand years ago. And since then it has changed shaped and molded human civilization into what it is today. More specifically guns have had a major impact on America and have grown to be a very hot topic. In the western times almost every one carried some type of weapon. During the problem definition stage, one must realize that “a condition is not a social problem unless it is seen as violating certain fundamental values and beliefs about how society should operate” (Gusfield, 2011). I have determined that there exists a problem concerning gun control, more specifically, concealed carry laws, as they are inconsistent throughout the states. While 48 states now have some form of concealed carry policy in place, the Illinois does not. Thus, the citizens’ rights are in violation of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

In current day society, it is frequently promoted as self-defense and our “duty” as Americans to own a gun of some sort. The second amendment to the constitution declares that “We the People” are allowed to bear arms because we live in a free State. Although these statements are true, at what cost? The question, “at what cost,” arises due to the recent push for an extension and enforcement of the second amendment. The people of the States have been pushing for desired concealed carry at public areas, such as schools. Statements and questions of concern have been on the as to whether or not this idea is “smart”. Contrary of it allowing some people to feel safe, the idea should be imposed. The National Rifle Association (NRA), recognized today as a major political force and as America's foremost defender of the Second Amendment, “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a Free State the Right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The NRA adheres to the belief that the Second Amendment guarantees the right of individuals to bear arms. Recent U.S. Supreme Court cases have confirmed those beliefs. In spite of whether one personally adheres to these interpretations of the amendment or not, the fact is there are over two hundred million guns in this country. Moreover, there are over seventy-five million firearm owners. In addition to the NRA’s political activity for second amendment rights, it has fulfilled a service, as since its inception, it had been the premier firearms education organization in the world by providing firearms safety and training.

The second amendment states “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The Founding Fathers included this in the Bill of Rights because they feared the Federal Government might oppress the population if the people did not have the means to defend themselves as a nation or individuals.
Did you know the second amendment states that you have a right to own and use arms for protection? Kentucky passed a law in 1813 that prohibits the carrying of concealed weapons. In May 1987, Florida passed a “shall-issue” law that became a model for other states. There are 11 states that have the “may-issue” law which allows permits. On July 8, 2011, Wisconsin became the 49th state to allow concealed carry.
