Research Study on Relationships Between Life Satisfaction and Academic Performance

Chapter 1: Introduction

Our research topic is stress and life satisfaction and academic performance. With this research topic, our group hopes to find out certain pressing matters that affect the daily livelihood of University students. In general, our research findings will try to answer these questions through the use of descriptive statistics. To make this finding valid, we are using quota sampling and convenience sampling methods to collect the data from the samples. The samples we choose is the undergraduate psychology students.

We will review and rehearse certain journals that correspond with our topic at hand. From our lateral understanding of these topics, we intend to draw inspiration and formalities of academic from the literature review portion.

We have posed Research Questions that fall in line with what we intend to study. They are differences in stress between genders, stress levels and academic performance, life satisfaction between genders and finally, stress levels against life satisfaction.

We are interested in measuring stress level among the students because they are people which are consistently suffering from stress in their daily life. Stress can bring us negative effects like depression and health issues but it is somehow able to show positive effects such as acting as motivation in our life. We are debating whether females having higher stress level than males or vice versa, how stress levels can boost or impede academic performance and life satisfaction respectively.

...ery time consuming for collecting responses from every faculties and we only able to collect our results in a faculty. Furthermore, the sample group is small whereby there are 50 participants contribute in our study but there are only 47 questionnaires returned because of 3 participants refused to return the questionnaire. Finally, the limitation might influence the reliability and accuracy of our results.

In conclusion, our study “Stress and it's effects on life satisfaction and academic performance” is based on Utar Perak Campus Business Students from the first Trimester of 2014. Data was collected and analyzed in questionnaire-based and graphical and calculative methods. We are able to concluded that the results are similar from our journals' studies and match our hypotheses, as higher the stress, lower the life satisfaction as well as academic performance too.
