(a) What is the relationship between organizations and innovation?
The research is aimed at defining the relationship between the two concepts that is innovation and organization, the concept innovation can be acquired and exploit by many organizations to achieve superior value. Mobbs C (2010), outline different definition constituting to innovation, one of the definition as stated by UK department of trade and industry (2004) defines innovation as “successful exploitation of new ideas”, Michael Porter (1990) further defines innovation as “A nation competitive advantage“ therefore innovation can be broadly defined and observed as a vital approach to achieve organizational goal and competitiveness.(Oxford dictionary;2005:1030) defines the concept organization as a group of people who form a business together aiming at achieving a particular goal. Pakistan Journal of Psychological (2013) research studies reveals that innovation has a direct bearing on organization effectiveness, The journal further express the definition effectiveness as provide by Andersen (2006) as a degree to which an organizational achieve its goal.
Pakistan Journal of Psychological (2013) research studies base the concept organizational effectiveness on theoretical subjective measures. One of the measures include organizational environment, thereof the organization has to exhibit a working environment that would allow employees to be creative and innovative, the journal further support working environment as stated by (Angle, 1989; McLean, 2005; Monge et al.,1992) that a working environment allows generation of ideas and information flows across all level of the organization.

Biomass Co-Generation
Burning of biomass such as forestry residue would be used to generate electricity and supply industrial process. Therefore this would ultimately improve the South Africa industries and maintain their market niche in the global market.
Solar Power
Adoption of solar power would contribute largely to the South African electricity demand.

Based on the research proposal Eskom as an organization contribute to South African innovation and competitiveness, Eskom is involved in various innovation initiatives which were not covered in this research, which could contribute largely to South African innovation, such as open innovation pilot project. The initiative is also aimed at resolving the South African power supply shortages.
