Past Present and Future Paper This is a three-part paper in which I will reflect on my personal and professional growth during my program of study at the University. Part one will reflect upon were I was in my personal and professional life when I started the University program. Part two will evaluate the growth my experienced during my University program of study. Part three will analyze the impact of completing the University bachelor's program on my current and future professional goals? Part One After high school I attempted to pursue more of an education at Miller Hawkins Business College. I was only able to finish nine months of this college due to my husband re-enlisting in the United States Navy. At that time I was six months pregnant with my first child. With this move I withdraw from college and move with my husband to Pensacola, Florida. I did not continue my education; instead I started our family and put my education on hold. After 17 years of marriage and 3 children my marriage failed and all I had was my work experience and had lived secured by the military life. At this point I decided that I truly would like to finish what I had started over 20 years ago and get my degree in accounting. I believed that it was time to do something for myself and to fulfill some of my goals that I had started years ago. I was a single mother with older children whom did not need so much of my attention. I continued to work to support myself and needed to find to find a college that was compatible with my work and family life. I started doing research on different colleges and university and found that the University of seemed to be most compatible with my needs since they had the distance learning program. My education goals on additional degrees that I might pursue, will probably depend on if it is needed or something that might be required to continue to advance within my workplace. It has taken me 5 years to complete my bachelors and right now I have no plan to continue with my master’s. I think if I give myself at least a year and truly doing a little critical thinking in the matter, that I will be able to finalize that decision. I would like to continue my lifelong learning by taking course in certain areas. I would like to take a class in Access and Six Sigma. I think these types of classes will only enhance my professional abilities. Lifelong learning is something that I will continue doing and will enjoy. No matter how old someone is learning just opens new doors and gives oneself satisfaction.
I focused on education because that is where I felt most qualified and because I enjoyed the idea of working with young children everyday. I was able to find employment in the Mountain Empire Unified School District working as a D/HH teacher’s aid and I work there to this day. Recently, I applied into the San Diego Mesa College Interpreting program. I started out with two classes and decided to see how the semester would go and if I would want to continue or pursue my masters in Deaf Education. Both career options were important to me but as a working single mother, I believed that the best option for me would present itself later on. I enjoyed being back in school and what the courses had to offer but was frustrated with the structure of the program. I felt that with the many things going on in my life, that it was not the path I wanted to take at the time. I am a student at Kaplan university I am pursing a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration. Today I get to dwell on my future and my past at the same time; it brings me excitement on both parts. I will speak about my past research that I have done on researching my area of study and on my future on my area of study such as: my career Educational requirements including any relevant certifications and credentials, personality traits, required skills, my career goals, how Kaplan can help me obtain my career goals, and my favorite question of them all where do I see myself in 5 years. I will be discussing these topics in my next few paragraphs.
It has taken me a long time to come to this point but I am now sure of what I want to do, and what I need to do to achieve my goals. Had I not gone through the countless jobs and educational paths, I would have never come to the one that I finally know I will love and it will benefit me as a person, and benefit my family financially.
... started studying again so that I could prepare for DAT. While I was studying and preparing for it, my financial situation was getting worse and worse because my business became bankrupt. At the same time, my financial situation could not be salvaged easily given that my wife could not work because of her disk surgery. Working full time and studying for the test made me exhausted. I could barely finish prerequisite courses. Besides my business suffering bankruptcy, I was also faced with personal debts that were accumulating by day. Most people though that I could not get out of the predicament but I eventually set up a plan that saw me pay off my personal debts and complete my studies. Now I want to pursue a promising career; one that will offer me a wide range of job opportunities and help me to serve mankind better. I consider Pharmacy my best career choice.
Changing my life for an education that will follow me with an eye like an eagle. I decide to attend college for my second time to have the ideal of how to run a business with my Culinary Art Degree. Year of 2011 I revived to blessing my Associated in Culinary Arts and my beautiful daughter. After follow my dream that my grandmother started for me when I was nine made me so happy to graduate. So I decide to go back to college at Strayer University to get my bachelor degree in Business Management that play role in cooking, if you want to open your own restaurant. The Journey whom which, my daughter can continued my ledge from her great grandmother, grandmother, and a mother. That will be the most happily feeling ever.
I am pursuing a degree for different reasons. I attended community college for one semester after I graduated high school. At that point in time I wasn’t interested in going to college to better my life. I honestly went to school at my mother’s suggestion, and because I wasn’t ready to work full time. I realize now, looking back, at the opportunities I missed because I wasn’t interested. Now that I have begun a career in the retail industry, I know that isn’t the life I want forever. I enjoy working with my hands and my mind in order to make something, in essence, beautiful. I want to have a happy and fulfilling career, not a dead end job. I know the “normal classroom” isn’t for me, and I want to learn a trade, which led me to ITT Tech.
In this university into a second semester, I learned a lot , also felt a lot of different from university in America and high school in China. In university I touched more wide than in high school. I need to have a conclusion to face the past university life. And I need to be more confident to face the future.

What is the purpose of Lifelong Learning? With ever expanding economic growth and globalization, the need for new skills is more prominent and lifelong learning and adult education is seen to have become a governmental response to socio-economic inequality, the financial crisis as well as the growing competition within industry both nationally and internationally. As a young woman growing up in an urbanized setting and attending public schools all of my life, when the time came to start planning and searching for colleges, I searched for schools that I felt fit my persona, that I would be comfortable attending for some of the most integral years of my life. My search included schools such as Temple University, and Pennsylvania State University, higher education institutions that allowed me to challenge myself, but at the same time would put me in a setting where I would be with others just like myself, fitting into the standard American university fashion.
Education does not need to stop at a certain point in adult life. Educators are beginning to understand that older adults still retain the capacity to learn and that there are many benefits that come with keeping the brain active throughout older adulthood. Older adults may find attending university to be inspiring; however it seems that most of lifelong learning for older adults occurs outside of traditional academia. A lifelong learning education model provides a fluid perspective that views individuals as both learners and teachers throughout their lifespan (Feldman, 1991).
In the college success strategies (COLL 101) class, we had explored various areas of future possibility. Throughout the quarter, We sketched out the big pictures of the future. We identified potential destination and explored the path to get there. In this reflection essay, I would like to talk about and reflect on personal development throughout the quarter.
Relentless betterment has always been the motive of my life. The foremost requirement to attain this is knowledge and profound guidance. After the completion of my course under the guidance of your privileged university I am confident enough that I will take the path of constant growth.
Along with my change of interest and working for a company that helps pay for my school I was looking for a better college to attend and that had a program that would fit my needs. I soon became aware of Maryville University and the weekend and evening college program that they offered.
