Do you remember the old magic trick of the coin behind your ear? As a child you were so naïve and you believed almost anything adults told you. You were so enthralled by the magic trick so much, that you were insensible to notice the coin was hidden in their hand the entire time. Even though magic does not exist, you believed in it with all your heart because adults made the deception that it was. The government and politicians performs this same magic trick to us; the general public about Global Warming. We are so use to deceits and deceptions that we no longer can differentiate between the truth and lies that we are constantly fed. There are lucid evidence of Global Warming and the results of our actions, but the government performs this trick to distract us from authenticity. Just like a child, we accept practically anything the government says because of their authority. And for individuals that try to aware us of the truth, like scientist, we accuse them of being in denial and a non-believer.

Al Gore addresses this issue in a Rolling Stone magazine essay that was published online. Even though he believes that the media and government have the greatest influence and impact on Global Warming, he also believes that the general public should be more aware of the dilemma at hand. He expresses to the public the solutions to help solve this problem and what they can do to better the society in a “greener” way.

So the question that you should ask yourselves now is, “How can we individuals make a change in society?” Step 1: Become a committed advocate for solving the crises. Step 2: Deepen your commitment by making consumer-smart choices that will reduce energy use. Step 3: Join an organization specifically to act on this issue. Step 4: Contact your local newspaper and television stations when they put out claptrap on climate. And finally, Step 5: Don’t give up on the political system. All of Gores claims are valid and there is the evidence to prove them. You will no longer succumb to the coin trick, but rather show them a trick of your own. How about, “Listen to us or you won’t get our votes.” That sounds like a pretty good one; gets them every time.
