Sitting down to your favorite romance or murder mystery novel does more for you then entertain. Enjoying the best chapter helps with brain connectivity, focus, and language comprehension. Reading anything helps your brain in some way. Whether you are just skimming or are super engaged in the book, your mind is working to improve. “Heightened connectivity in other parts of the brain suggested that readers may experience “embodied semantics,” a process in which brain connectivity during a thought-about action mirrors the connectivity that occurs during the actual action.”(www.theatlantic.com). This study out of Emory University, along with many others, shows that the neuron changes created by reading a book are associated with physical sensation and movement systems in your brain. When reading a word like coffee, the connectivity in the central sulcus in yo...
If you had the choice between your phone and a book, you would probably without thinking grab your phone. But what if you knew that reading is crucial to a future. In “Reading for pleasure Is in Painful Decline” by Stephen L. Carter and “Twilight of the books” by Caleb Crain, both authors argue about the state of reading in The United States. Within both passages they give valid points as to why and how the state of reading are negatively affecting the country. Stephen L. Carter represents how the decline in reading for fun is the main concern, while on the other hand, Caleb Crain shows it’s technology and social media that actually are the main contributors.
In the article 10 Benefits of Reading, the author Lana Winter-Hebert of Lifehack.org explained why reading is a mental exercise and can improve your mental ability. My reading habits are fairly frequent. I read a lot of magazines and online articles, but I never miss out on a good novel. The atmosphere of a bookstore or library is so comfortable and that drives me to read more, too. I am currently reading two books; The Name of This Book is Secret and If I Should Die Before I Wake. Considering I am constantly reading as recreation or school-wise, I think I read enough.
Reading is an essential element in our everyday lives. What was the first thing that you learned in school? It was the ability to read. Exercising that ability by reading voluntarily keeps our minds active when we’re out of school. It is a supplement to our minds. The more you read, the more you know!
The story “Nerd Alert: Reading is Good for Your Health” (Source: Jen Christiensen) is based on how reading can help you with your problems. They use the term “bibliotherapy” which means “book therapy “to explain their method. The ‘book whisperer’ Alison Kerr Courtney’s method is to give 5 to 7 different books based on her client’s moods, and the outcomes are positive! My view on this is that reading books that are based on how you feel are good because you can feel better and maybe even resolve the issue in a better way. According to Keith Oatley he claims “People who read more fiction may understand people better than others.” My response to this is that personally that fiction books help me relate to other people and their problems. ‘Reading

Reading is not just reading words on a paper. It is a process that uses many resources in the brain and the use of strategies. Teachers have to use all six areas of reading to help students learn how to read, what strategies to use when reading, how to interpret a text and many more. Reading is a complex process and this paper will describe the six areas of reading.
People read every day, whether it is reading a news feed, emails, chats etc. But there is something different when you read a book. When you read a book, you’ll be absorbed into a strange land with a vivid imagination and different perspectives, you swim into someone’s ideas and story and buried with your interpretation upon what you’ve just read. To get such experience, all you need to do is only grab a book and start to read. However, it never as easy as it sounds. Consider the distraction that we encounter every time we start to cram into a story let say notifications, emails, and such. This, sometimes is what hampers us to fond of reading.
Why do humans reading in order to gain knowledge? In this paper I'll explain how a reading of chapters 2-3 in Genesis can be combined with psychological research to partially explain why we may read. The two chapters of Genesis I’ll discuss demonstrates that acquisition of knowledge implies that it is impossible not to acknowledge that you were once ignorant of whatever it is you have learned. The psychological research explains that whenever you read a story (like this story within Genesis), what you feel during the experience is based on the order of your memory, not on the order of the actual experience depicted. I'll then combine these two threads together to show that reading allows us to gather knowledge that augments our consciousness. It does this by surpassing the highest level of consciousness that we are capable of knowing without it.
But I believe that anything that can be read has a meaning and we shouldn’t let ourselves think otherwise, even though they can be boring or the type of reading you don’t expect to read we should always read it no matter what. When you read something, you learn. It shows a sense of memory and the way you can think of these readings. It benefits us because our brain gathers all the reading and stores for any important occasion to be able to use it. Stories that are boring or not interesting to the reader can help to learn things that you never knew before. Sometimes we are stuck in one topic that it’s the only thing you want to read or see, we don’t give other topics a chance to help us learn. So reading boring stories benefits us in many
Readers believe that not only is reading a form of entertainment, but you can learn from it also. Readers are generally better writers; however, too much reading can make you an introvert. There are probably dozens of books that try to depict real life problems, but it’s hard to get the emotional feeling by looking at text. When watching Television, you feel what the character feels. Additionally, readers lack the verbal communication skills possessed by T.V. watchers. To prepare yourself for a job interview, would you rather read a book, or watch people be interviewed? By watching them, one can see how they visually present themselves, and how they speak and listen. That, you cannot learn from a book.
Reading is an important way of communicating. Reading develops your imagination, boosts your vocabulary, improves empathy and helps you towards reaching wanted education. Reading literature is especially very important for the foundation of life. Throughout the Literature, we can see the whole world from a different perspective. Literature teaches the reader about life. In each story the reader will experience his or her own journey through which he can become more thoughtful and more understanding about themselves.
The first book I read was Gandhi and it was level 3 which it wasn’t so difficult, but it was interested and made me like to read more and more. I read about Gandhi’s life before, but in Arabic and it was great to read in a different language which could show you how much you comprehended. Dr. Eliana Santana suggested going up one level or more and I chose Romeo and Juliet level 4, which I read it before also. This play has a lot of vocabulary and phrases which helped me a lot to understand many articles later. After that, I read Oliver Twist level 6, which it has a lot of expressions and strong structure that would make you think in a different way. For me, the purpose of reading wasn’t only to learn new vocabulary, but it was the way to learn when to use some expressions and phrases, how to use some words, how to read without stopping like to learn in your language, and for entertainment. We have a joke about writing common words but in wrong spelling, but your brain could still read it without stopping or noticing that there was something wrong. That because we used to see and read these words which make our brain recognize them instantly. I’m practicing and reading to make my brain familiar with the words, so I can read fast. Also, when I read, I imagine how the characters look like, how the environment and places
Reading leave me a lot of good things, such as learning what is going on around the
The best way to entertain and educate yourself is to read a book. Books can take you interesting places and teach you new things. Some may even change how you view life. As a conclusion I find it very interesting to read literary texts, we can learn a lot, in addition we can develop our English skills. The learning gets more interesting if the author writes in a good and easy way. If the author is experienced, the reading is easier and we learn more. We can improve our writing skills, like structure and vocabulary. Reading is important, and every student should read at least a few books each year. By reading literary texts about other person’s life, we can learn from their mistakes, and also about their experience. We see how other people achieves their goals, and the way they do it.
