The Benefits of Quality Function Deployment
· Explain the benefits, which you think that quality function
deployment can bring to a design team when designing and putting into
production, a new product.
Quality function deployments or (Q,F,D's) main aim is to clarify the
requirements of any project or product that is to be undertaken.
Therefore to present the project in a just manner, allowing consumers
to see measurable factors in the project or product.
As a product designer quality function deployment has a number of
benefits. When quality function deployment is used it would allow the
product designer to set himself some clear goals through an action
plan. Obviously as a product designer it is the consumer that is the
important factor in the design of the product. You may have an age
range and gender to design for, but with Q,D,F you relate you action
plan and goals around the consumer and what their requirements are. If
this can be achieved it is more than likely that you will design a
product that will match up to the consumers needs first time round
thus reducing time and minimising costs. If this is not the case than
modifications or changes to designs are made in the early stages when
Q,D,F is undertaken still keeping costs down. Because time is reduced
its not just minimising costs, but would imply that a designer would
be more likely to hit there deadline more comfortably.
Q,D,F can also bring cheaper tooling as mistakes are kept to a
minimum. Keeping costs at a down will have a knock on affect on the
product when it's to be sold to the consumer. The design of a product
costs money so is classed as an overhead. The company selling the
product will want to recuperate the money lost on its overheads, which
is taken into account when deciding the cost of a product. If the
overheads are lower as a result of Q,D,F then in turn the price put on
the product will be lower making it more attractive to consumers and
Quality is an important part of any business rather from a customer’s perspective or a producer’s perspective. Quality from a customer’s perspective is they “want value and quality has become a major factor in the value of products and service” (Russell & Taylor, 2013, pg. 53). “The customer is the most important part of the production line” (Russell & Taylor, 2013, pg. 53). This can be referred to as quality of design meaning “involves designing quality characteristics into a product or service” (Russell & Taylor, 2013, pg. 54). Now let’s look at the quality from a producer’s perspective. This can be referred to a quality of conformance meaning “making sure the product or service is produced according to design” (Russell & Taylor, 2013,

I enjoyed reading your perspective on health care quality and the comparison that our social, personal and work life needs continuous improvement just like the health care industry. In addition, I agree with your examples on how Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), State Medicaid Agencies, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), and Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers (FQHC) used quality improvement measures to improve health outcomes.

Cognizant of the fact that quality care is less expensive, for a number of years, healthcare organizations have looked for ways to improve quality and operational efficiency while cutting costs. Although American medicine is the best in the world, there are no doubt that there are also waste and inefficiencies in the system that have put health and resources at risk. Patients who stay longer than need in the hospital are exposed to infections. Vital informations are at times lost in transition from primary care doctors to specialists. These are some examples of inefficiencies that require quality improvement.

Total quality management is a management philosophy aimed at continuous growth in quality improvement of products, processes and services to achieve and surpass quality standards. It consists of strategic planning, organizing and implementing each process activity and of removing all the wasted effort and energy that is routinely spent. It is a methodology of strategic overview of quality and focus on prevention not detection of problems.
Quality improvement (QI) project is comprised of organized and constant activities that prompt quantifiable changes in the health care system and the wellbeing status of focused patient groups. Quality is forthrightly connected to a facility 's treatment method or fundamental methods of care. To make developments, a facility needs to comprehend its own delivery system and key procedures (HRSA, 2014). Nurse inclusion is vital for initiation of any critical care improvement in health facilities. This paper is foreseen to display a quality improvement program on the protection of medical caretakers employed in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, to the board for authorization of funding.
CQI is an approach to quality management by emphasizing the organization and systems to builds upon traditional assurance methods. It is more focuses on the process instead of the individual. It acknowledges both internal and external customers, It helps to improve the need for objective data to analyze and the processes.
In order to enhance customer satisfaction and standardize processes & procedures at Evoke, we have built a team to implement a Quality Management System in our organization. Quality is a word which has been used for a very long time, lots of books have been written about it, and many of the world scientists have defined it in many different ways. In this research paper, I will emphasis on the Quality Management System, why is it important? What is it used for? What is the importance of having a Quality Management System? Many people think implementing QMS costs a lot and all the benefit is a piece of a paper which say that your company is certified in having QMS so you can only hang this picture or certificate on the wall and tell your smart customer that you have it. In fact, no blames on them, they have not used this system yet, they do not know that this system save a lot and a lot of money for companies. They do not know that this system create a dynamic motion within the companies so everyone know what he/she is doing, everybody understands his/her role, and everyone can feel being an important part of the process then everybody can work towards a clear and unified target. However, having a lot of benefits requires a reasonable cost and in the same time it worth. There are several organization which are concerned and involved in this issue, those organizations have produced a unified standards and those standards have its requirements. The International Standardization Organization which located in Switzerland which have a contribution of 157 countries have produced a standard which is concerned about the QMS.
