The federal government should restrict abortions because abortions strips an American child of its rights to life, puts women’s lives in jeopardy, and allows Americans to have a way to desert the consequences of their actions. The most fertile ages for a woman are twenty to twenty four years of age. With that being said it more common for a younger woman to become pregnant. Having children or planning to have or not to have a family is one of the biggest decisions of a woman’s life. There is no such thing as perfect time to start a family. There are both disadvantages and advantages to giving birth at different stages. For instance, a woman in her 20’s would have more energy to run after and take care of a toddler but less of a financial budget. A woman of her 30’s or 40’s may be more established financially but does not have the energy to keep up with a toddler. Everyone does not think about these aspects when getting pregnant. It’s a heavy responsibility that comes with children. Americans have to ask themselves are they ready for this type of responsibility? Before someone claims to be pro life they would need to know the meaning of pro life. To be pro life is to say that the person believes that the government has obligations to preserve all human life, regardless of intent, viability, or quality of life (Heard). The pro life advocate believes that help should be given to a young woman to make it as simple as possible to give her child up for adoption, if she desires. Dealing with young women that do not wish to keep their children can be an opportunity for both individuals and society to develop true understanding and charity. Is it not better to develop these virtues than the countenance of ethic destruction as the solut... ... middle of paper ... ...n death. An abortion can cost anywhere from around $350 to more than $1,000. In 2009, it was estimated that a total of $831 million is spent on abortions annually (abortion). If American was took reducing abortions serious the most important decision would not be which abortion to ban but how they would support to have the babies that they so badly do not want aborted. As a general rule, societies that do the least for mothers and child bearing have more abortions. Works Cited Stoner, Carrol. All God’s Children. Ont. Canada: Thomas Nelson and Sons, Ltd., 1977.Ahs. As to any argument, there are two opposing sides when it comes to the matter of abortions. These two opposers usually refer to themselves as “pro-life” and “pro choice”. Pro-life supporters maintain that abortion is wrong and pro-choice believe that it is a woman’s freedom to choose her pregnancy decisions. When it comes to the topic of abortions, most of us will readily agree that it’s a woman’s choice to decide what her reproductive decisions are, i.e. pro-choice. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is in the question of whether or not abortion is a fundamental right granted to women by the Constitution. Whereas some are convinced that a fetus is considered alive at conception, usually citing the word of God, others maintain that
Abortion is a very controversial and sensitive topic in today’s society. Two different sides to this argument is pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life proponents believe in the right to life for unborn fetuses saying that abortion should be considered murder regardless of how far along in the pregnancy the woman is. Pro-choice advocates people who believe the woman carrying the fetus should be able to make her own decision on aborting the fetus.
...e right path to choose, if in fact I would become pregnant at this age. I feel that I should have the right to decide freely and responsibly when and whether I have a child.
Pro-choice is an escape from the harsh reality that abortion is the murder of millions of innocent lives. Activists also believe that killing infants because they are severely handicapped is morally acceptable. They are of the opinion that a life can be terminated by the hands of a physician; in my opinion, only by God. That is how pro-choice activists represent themselves.
The writer believes the disadvantages of pro life outweigh the advantages. The cons of pro life are more sustainable, and look for the best interest of the parents and the children. If a mother could not care for a child she has, and ends up in a predicament where she obtains another child, it would be in the best interest to set up an adoption. Having choose adoption a mother may feel regret and may end up being depressed in the long run. For the children they may feel abandoned by their mothers, and this may have effects on their life growing up. Also, if a mother chose abortion, the father may never know about a child, yet with pro life it can give him more leverage in obtaining his
”The pro-life movement seeks to force their moral beliefs on others - grounded in their own religion or personal philosophy. The pro-choice movement doesn 't make claims on the morality of abortion - we leave that as an individual choice for every woman faced with an unwanted pregnancy. If they feel abortion is wrong and they want to give their child up for adoption, or keep it, we will support their decision. Pro-life people say "Abortion is wrong;" we only say
Pro choice vs pro life has divided people for numerous reasons. Abortion is expected to date back to the 1800s, it is now seen as taboo and inhumane to some. Fact of the matter, whether abortion is wrong or not it is the fight for giving a woman a natural right to her own body. For decades, legislators that are full of man have created laws and regulations on abortion. Abortion ideally ought to be pro choice for women everywhere for the victims' own protection, expanding young girls life opportunities, and individual freedom.
Pro-choice versus pro-life argues over the issue of what should be the right stance when dealing with the life of an unborn child. From the perspective of a person who is pro-choice, they believe that “individuals have unlimited autonomy with respect to their own reproductive systems, just as long as they don’t violate the independence of others.” Pro-choice also argues that the government should not have the right to decide whether a woman should exterminate her pregnancy or not. From their viewpoint, they believe that what should be legal in the eyes of the government is contraception use, celibacy, abstinence, and abortion for the first two trimesters of pregnancy. On the stance of pro-life, they argue that the government has a right
In conclusion Pro-Life and Pro-Choice advocates both claim to hold the righteous claim to saving lives, to each they remain strong in their cause. America is after all, is a nation of democracy.
In America abortion is one of the most heavily debated topics in recent years. Pro-life or pro-choice? Many people believe it is immoral and even consider abortion to be murder. The definition of abortion states “The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth” Did you know that 1 in 3 women in the U.S. will have an abortion in their lifetime? (Baker, Aspen. "A Better Way to Talk about Abortion." Aspen Baker:. N.p., n.d. Web. 25 Aug. 2016.) When first researching this topic I wondered, “What’s the big deal? Why would it matter if someone who was never even born, died?” And I realized that babies that would have been born due to abortion,
Pro-Choice advocates believe that abortion should be legalized because they feel it is necessary to empower women with choice. They have strong opinions that women are not subordinate, so they ought to be allowed to make moral decisions and should not be forced to have a child, but why should the child have to suffer for the wrongdoings of his mother? Since only women can get pregnant, male legislators have no right to vote on anything abortion-related because it doesn’t affect him personally. If an innocent woman is raped and later becomes pregnant, should she be forced to have the baby? Well, according to pro-choice believers, she should have the right to decide for herself if she wants an abortion. An innocent unborn baby definitely should not be punished for the crime and poor decisions of his father. The mother must stick out the tough nine months that it takes to be pregnant in order to save the life of the faultless developing child inside of her. Adoption is always an option, and a much better alternative to murder. Yes, a woman does have a choice, but there is always one morally right way to go when con...
Being pro-Life is a choice made by many. Being pro-life would mean a person doesn’t believe in the death penalty as well as would not believe in aborting an unborn child. This isn’t true for most people though, when you think about a man or woman who has murdered most people would think the death penalty is okay but when you talk about an unborn child then the situation changes. This is why I believe each situation is different. It is said that aborting a child does more harm than good. It could cause physical and psychological harm to the woman as well as killing a child [Ziegler, 2013].
...ions over her own body; whether it is parenthood, adoption, contraception, or yes, abortion. After all, it is entirely plausible for people to be personally pro-life but politically pro-choice – this suggests that they respect each individuals’ rights over his or her own body and recognize that each woman should be allowed to have options. Regardless of whether or not she chooses to have the child, it is the fact that she has a choice that is crucial, and it is imperative that each woman have the freedom of individual autonomy. In order for this to occur, abortion must continue to be legal. Ultimately, being pro-choice is not necessarily advocating the use of abortion – it is about ensuring that abortion is legal so that women may have the option to exercise their right to individual autonomy and make the decisions that best reflects their stance in life.
Abortion is an issue which separates the American public, especially when it involves the death of children and women. When an abortion occurs, the medical doctor removes the fetus from the pregnant woman. This particular act has separated the public. Many believe that abortion is not morally and ethically correct. On the other hand, some people believe that carrying and delivering the unborn child will hinder the safety of the mother, then an abortion is needed. Each view has its own merit in the debate. This debate has separated the public into two sections: pro-life and pro-choice. A pro-lifer opposes abortion, whereas, a pro-choicer believes that the decision to abort the child should be left to the mother because she is the one carrying the child. In this paper, there will be topics that will be discussed concerning pro-life and pro-choice. I hope at the end of this paper, the reader is able to gain more knowledge concerning each topic. Every woman has the right to control her own body.
Years ago, before abortion was legal, thousands of women performed illegal abortions using old fashioned methods resulting in serious infections and in many cases death. In 1973, the United States Supreme Court, with a 7-2 vote, ruled in Norma L. McCorvey‘s favor declaring that the government could not restrict or interfere with a woman’s ability to obtain an abortion hence legalizing abortion in all 50 states (Clifton par.1). This was known as the Roe Vs. Wade case. Appalled by the decision, pro- life activists attempted to abolish Roe in the courts, and in 1976, the Hyde Amendment was passed. This amendment restricted the government from federally funding abortions. It emphasized partial birth abortions and enforced new laws stating that minors had to receive permission from their guardians to obtain abortions (Rasmussen par.11). Since 1973, there have been approximately 52,008,665 abortions performed in the United States and I think its about time we put an end to this abomination (NRLC par.7).
