Introduction: Facebook is an online social networking service and became very popular within years. It was found on the 4th of February in 2004. As of now you must be 13 years of age to register and make an account. Facebook has been updating almost every year to make improvements such as the layout of your wall, the layout of your messages, and most importantly your privacy and security of your account. In 2010, the security team of Facebook has begun to expand its efforts to reduce risks to users’ privacy, and it was successful but still leaves some privacy concerns behind. Privacy and security is very important to have, especially if you are going to be on the Internet and sharing your information with others. Facebook lets the user have a choice to arrange your own privacy settings based on who can access your profile, posts, news feed, and messages. Facebook requires a username and profile picture to be accessible to everyone. Earlier, this was open to everyone and now due to updates on privacy settings, you can have the option of who can search you on Facebook. Facebook privacy and security have many benefits, problems, and challenges. There is a benefit for every security setting on Facebook but the real concern comes along when it comes to facing the problem and how this problem goes into different steps of challenges, and how we can fix that problem in order for privacy not to be a huge issue. A person that has access to Facebook wants to share their everyday moments to the world such as sharing personal posts, photos and videos, and that’s what Facebook is basically known for. One should be careful for what they post, share and be responsible for their actions. If people have concerns about privacy, the best idea would be to take appropriate measures to make sure your information stays private and that it can be done as mentioned before by taking advantage of the privacy features provided on Facebook. Also taking in consideration of limiting your posts so that it will not make you feel uncomfortable.
