Of Advertising Hard Liquor on TV In The United States?
INTRODUCTION
Purpose
The goal of this report is to inform the reader of the recent events that prompted hard liquor advertising on TV. In addition, the laws associated with advertising across this media, as well as recent legislative endeavors to control such advertising. Furthermore, the report also focuses on the potential profitability the distilled spirit's industry will gain from advertising across this media and the industries social responsibilities to the consumer.
Sources and Methods
Research for this report is gathered mainly from information found on the World
Wide Web. Some information was gained through newspaper articles obtained by using the InfoTrac system in the Ruth Scarborough Library on the Shepherd
College Campus. Refer to the bibliography for specific information references.
History
Research by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) found that 30 to 50 percent of Americans think that distilled spirits are being advertised on TV. Since Prohibition the hard liquor industry voluntarily agreed not to advertise their products, first on radio in 1936, and of TV in 1948.
However, the industry is being faced with declining sales. Their competitors such as the beer and wine industries have grown. The sales of beer and wine have increased dramatically, leaving the hard liquor industry behind. The main reason for this occurrence is due to the fact that these industries have tapped into the resource of advertising on TV.
Consequently, this has prompted the hard liquor industry to reevaluate its current marketing situation. The first company to take the leap to TV is
Seagram. The Seagram company began advertising 30-second Crown Royal whiskey commercials in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Definitions
The words "distilled spirit" is used throughout this report. Distilled spirits and hard liquor in this report have the same meaning. Distill means to let fall, exude, or precipitate in drops or in a wet mist according to Webster's
Dictionary. Hard liquor is the end result of this process using the appropriate ingredients. Distilled spirit is any alcoholic beverage not defined as beer or wine.

Vending machines should be allowed is because it provides snacks , candy , and drinks . I think vending machines should be allowed in school is because if you are hungry you can go up and by one . Also if you didn’t have breakfast you could get something to eat from there. Last it could help the students in school .
The 2012 Canadian Club Whisky ad uses gender roles attributes in order to persuade possible male consumers into consuming the product by appealing to their sense of masculinity. The goal is to reach men’s pride and lead them to believe that Canadian Club Whisky is capable of “helping” them achieve society’s ideal of a man through images and sentences that remind them of manhood.
Sloan Wilson did not publish The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit, a classic on 1950's middle-class conformity, until 1955. But, by July 1953, PALL MALL cigarette advertisers appear aware that "society seemed to reward those who lacked rough edges and eschewed eccentricity" (Blum 794). This conclusion seems justified by a TIME magazine advertisement. Here, these promoters apply this conformity principle and other advertising techniques to a specific socioeconomic group. They seek to lure the expanding male, middle-class audience by presenting indecorous fun, an enticing social situation, and smooth smoking delight all stemming from their product.
If my parents decided to get a tracker and watched me what I was doing, I would not care about it at all. My parents has brought me up in a good way. My personal demeanors are neutral, and I do not have a concrete position about tracking their kids.
First, allowing students to carry backpacks throughout the school day would save everyone time. Since backpacks have multiple compartments, they allow students to carry learning materials like textbooks, calculators, binders, and writing utensils. Students can use backpacks to transport laptops inside dedicated sleeves. As a result, students would waste less time at their lockers searching through debris for assignments and missing homework. Teachers, too, will welcome backpacks when they no longer have to squander valuable minutes writing locker passes. Less locker stops will reduce hallway congestion, expediting travel between classes. Without wasting the teacher’s precious minutes, students can get a drink of water, go to the bathroom, or take care of personal hygiene needs. . Even custodians will appreciate the practicality of backpacks when they are no longer interrupted from their busy jobs to unjam a muddled locker because of cumbersome coats and binders.
Have you ever seen somebody finish eating a snack and then through the wrapper on the ground? I have. I asked that studenttold him if he couldan “please” pick it up, and he said I wasn’t the boss of him. This is an example of about why vending machines should not be allowed in schools. Vending machines are good for the school,but at the same time they are not good for the school because of what kids do to our planet.I think vending machines should not be allowed in schools because kids will litter, when they chew it’s distracting, and depending on how much they eat, they will go to the bathroom more also during class.
There is quite a controversy surrounding the use of tracking badges, on students or otherwise. “Is it security, or spying?” that’s the main question, and it seems that the controversy is postponing the installation of this new technology, yet the problems against the badges are flimsy at best. They should be used in schools, honestly people should try the badges out before they dismiss them as being spy machines. Students should wear tracking badges because they will be less likely to misbehave if they know they’re being tracked, the badges can also help police to find lost kids or kidnaped kids, plus parents won't have to worry about whether or not their child is where they’re supposed to be.
The question, “Is alcohol advertising the cause of underage drinking?” seems to flow through the minds of many American families. The answer to the question largely depends upon the families view on drinking in general. Some homes encourage drinking every once in a while, for social purposes; while others condemn it all together. The topic is very controversial with several factors weighing in such as religion, family background, and health. Despite the differing views, statistics have shown that underage drinking has reached a new height this past year. What is the cause of this rise in adolescent drinking? I will be reviewing the work of four different authors in an attempt to answer this question.
Have you ever heard of the gruesome Columbine High School massacre? This incident occurred on April 20th 1999 and involved two students embarking on a shooting rampage, killing twelve students, a teacher and wounding twenty three others. Unfortunately during this incident, the school's most easily accessible phone was on the other side of the school in the library. Perhaps some of these lives could have been saved if the students in this class had cell phones that they could've used to contact the authorities more quickly. The issue we are addressing today is the use of cellular devices in educational facilities. I believe that cell phone use is of extreme convenience, and has academically beneficial aspects, among it's so called "faults".
Bill Clinton once said, “People will learn to evaluate themselves by what they are on the inside to evaluate themselves by what they are on the inside, instead of what they’re wearing on the outside, then our public schools should be able to require students to wear school uniforms.” Public schools across America are searching to improve safety, school belonging and also help parents save money & students save time getting ready. One way to improve these issues would be to implement a uniform policy. The adoption of school uniforms policies will reach what public schools across America are searching for.
The advertisement shows a man having a night out and drinking with his mates. At the start, the narrator shows the group of men drinking their beer and asks the audience the question: have you ever wondered why it’s such a crime to drive after a few drinks? He then proceeds to answer this question by providing facts and examples on how drinking effects people and the possible outcomes if you do decide to drive after you’ve drunk.
Jovana was walking through the halls after class when she heard someone crying she turned and looked it was a girl getting bullied because of what she was wearing instead of sticking up for the girl she ignored it and kept walking. Approximately 83% of teens get bullied or teased for off brand clothes they don't have or can't afford. Each day passes and Jovana regrets not helping that little girl. All schools schools be required to wear school uniforms.

Should liquor be allowed to be advertised, if tobacco can not advertise their product? The ban on advertising tobacco products on television and radio, was passed through legislation in 1970 by Richard Nixon. This argument like others out there has two sides, one side in favor these advertisements and the other against these advertisements. Since both of these substances are highly addictive and costly. Would we like to see these advertisements continued? Are these advertisements the hazard they are communicated to be? Through the research of these two important sides, this essay will explore which side has a stronger stance on the topic.
Picture this, there has been a school lockdown, the suspect cut the landlines so no one could call the police for a rescue. However, the suspect was captured by the police much faster than he imagined. The last scene wouldn’t have happened if it was one decade ago, because cell phones were not popular in schools then. When it comes to cell phones, some people think they should not be permitted in schools, and other people think they should be permitted in schools. I agree with the latter opinion for the following reasons: Cell phones are an efficient way to communicate when emergencies occur in school; cell phones can be a great tool for learning during school hours; and the current prohibitive rules on cell phones are merely fruitless efforts. Cell phones should be permitted in schools, because they could be very beneficial and practical in schools.
