Hypnosis To Stop Smoking
The premise of my essay is that women have a better success rate than men when using hypnosis for cessation of cigarette smoking.
Each year 440,000 people die of diseases caused by smoking, that is about 20 percent of all deaths in the United States. The number of women dying from lung cancer has shown a dramatic increase while the number of men dying from lung cancer has shown a gradual reduction. This reflects the increase in smoking among women after the Second World War. In Scotland and the United States, death in women from lung cancer now exceed those from breast cancer. Smoking related heart disease and stroke occur in both men and women.
Smoking is linked with poor reproductive health in both men and women. In men it has been associated with impotence and reduced sperm count. Women who smoke have greater difficulty becoming pregnant and suffer early menopause. The risks to the fetus of smoking during pregnancy are well known and include increased incidence of miscarriage, neonatal death, and low birth weight. Pregnant woman who smoke are more likely to have babies who have an increased risk of death from sudden infant death syndrome and respiratory distress. They are also more likely to have low birth weight babies. Low birth weight is linked to many infants’ health disorders.
In many respects men and women are quite similar in regards to smoking. There are still slightly more male smokers than female smokers (29% and 28% of all adults respectively) Two thirds of men and women would like to stop smoking and equal proportions try to stop smoking each year. New evidence indicates that men and women succeed in stopping smoking at the same rate. However, interesting patterns emerge when analyzing the reasons why men and women smoke, their motivations to stop, the process of stopping smoking and the barriers they face. It is important to understand these differences so that effective smoking cessation strategies can be developed. Most important are the different psychological and physical dependencies men and women with their smoking.
Men are heavier smokers than woman. Women are more emotionally dependent on smoking then men. Men and women are similar in their assessment of health risks of smoking, but reasons for stopping differ. Men tend to cite more self-orientated reasons, such as improving fitness....

...on treatments. “Given that most of these smoking cessation approaches have similar success rates, it is really up to the consumer”, It depends on which treatment a person is most likely to use. There is nothing about hypnotic treatments that women should shy away from. If a smoker – a man or a woman – is strongly motivated to try a hypnotic approach, he or she will probably be as successful with that approach as any other.
Hypnosis often takes multiple sessions, and a combination of approaches, to reach your goal. Hypnosis could be combined with cognitive behavioral strategies, an awareness of nutrition and exercise, and an avoidance of smoking triggers to help make smoking cessation successful. Regardless of which treatment you use, smoking cessation requires motivation and social support and often times several attempts before it is successful. But all the benefits of quitting smoking are clear and it is a worthwhile goal.
In my conclusion, the premise is rejected. Hypnosis can be an effective method for smoking cessation in both genders. However, review of the literature does show that men have a better success rate then women when using hypnosis to help them quit smoking.
The final test that I administer is called the Faux-Rorschach test. This test is constructed of three inkblot pictures and it intends to analyze a person’s emotional functioning. As I handed Steven each inkblot picture I asked him, “What may this be? His response for the first inkblot picture was, “This is two aliens doing the Nae Nae and they are both having babies at the same time while doing the Nae Nae.” I added, “What is the Nae Nae?” and he responded, “The NaeNae is a dance.” I then asked him to show me where he saw that. This was a really interesting response because it seem like Steven incorporated movement that doesn’t really exist. This is a sign of creativity because I was able to see his perspective after he pointed the picture out to me.When I handed him the next inkblot his response was, “This is an alien jumping towards me because he wants to attack me. I then asked him if he could show me where he saw that. He pointed at the picture and said, “These are his legs and his pulling his feet up because he is jumping towards me and the arms are out because he wants to grab me and take me down. And these are his foot prints from when he jumped.” I noticed Steven seemed to have a theme and that was unrealistic creatures. This makes me believe that he may be misunderstood and feels attacked by others. His final response to the last inkblot picture was, Steve: “These are two devils that are
The health consequences of smoking have become evident since early 1960s and numerous techniques to help smokers to become nonsmokers have started to develop. "The Behavioral Aspects of Smoking", a report of the Surgeon General first published in 1979 talks in detail about methods aided to assist smokers in the process of cessation. Sometimes it is very hard to decide which intervention strategy is the best and most useful because they vary from gimmicks to formal programs and clinics.

This essay is aimed to explore, analyse and discuss smoking in adults. Smoking is a public health issue as such is one of the major contributors to high mortality and ill-health in the adults which is preventable (Health and Excellence Care (NICE) (2012). The United Kingdom (UK) is known to have the highest number of people with a history of smoking among people with low socio-economic status (Scriven and Garman, 2006; Goddard and Green, 2005). Smoking is considered a serious epidemic in the UK and the National institute for Health and Excellence Care (NICE, 2012) stated that 28% of adults with low economic status are tobacco smokers compared with 13% of those with economic status or having professional incomes. Furthermore almost 80,000 people died in England in 2011 as a result of smoking related issues and 9,500 admissions of children died due to being second hand smokers (WHO, 2005). This essay focuses on definition of smoking, the aim is to underline the relationship between smoking and the determinants of health and then, the size, prevalence, and morbidity trend of smoking will be explored. Furthermore, some public health policies introduced to confront the issues around smoking will be investigated and finally, the roles of nurses will identify health needs the public so as to promote good health and their wellbeing.

The stability of currency values plays a significant role for economic and financial stability. It is not difficult to see the exchange rate fluctuations are widely regarded as damaging. As the movements of the exchange rate have significant and large effects on the trade balance, resource allocation, domestic prices, interest rate, national income and other key economic variables. Then can exchange rate movements be predicted by these fundamental economic variables?
Society may have different views on practices that can affect the human mind and body. Hypnosis is often viewed in society as a joke. It is regularly seen in carnivals as entertainment with non-professional hypnotist that only seek laughter than regular results. Hypnosis is a cooperative social interaction in which the hypnotized person responds to the hypnotist’s suggestions with changes in perception, memory, and behavior. This may aid in someone with an addiction like, smoking and have them not want to smoke anymore. Thus, they will no longer have the urge to smoke a cigarette and live a healthier lifestyle. The public’s views on hypnosis may bias the person getting hypnotized because they may not take it seriously. This is because of people viewing it for its entertainment value than its actual value.
Hypnosis is very similar to daydreaming. When a person is daydreaming, they alter their state of consciousness. The same occurs when a patient is put into a hypnotic trance. The patient remains conscious and aware enough to hear, talk and make decisions, but are unaware of all outer distractions.(King) The patient concentrates on a specific goal they would like to achieve using hypnotherapy. This process allows the patient to set their mind on the addictions and overcome their problems.
The escalation of obesity rates in this country has sparked a flurry of activity amongst both serious researchers and charlatans to discover the perfect weight loss method. Hypnosis represents one of the more appealing methods dangled before the eyes of those who are hungry for a seemingly easy solution to a complex problem.
Several unsuccessful attempts are often made before a person is able to completely quit. The majority of unsuccessful attempts are made with no clinical interventions such as pharmacotherapy or counseling. Counseling and/or pharmacotherapy have shown to aid in a higher success rates in individuals who have quit smoking permanently. These methods are encouraged and should be offer them to anyone with the desire to quit smoking (Thanavaro & Delicath, 2010).
Advertisers, including drug companies, routinely market a number of stop-smoking products, scientifically “proven” to help a person quit smoking.6 These products, however, cannot do the “work” required to quit smoking.7 Using particular stop-smoking products, albeit, may help the smoker, determined to quit smoking, feel more comfortable and in control while he/she adjusts his/her life to be free from smoking.8,9,10
What most people don’t understand is how hypnosis works. Hypnosis is, as defined before, communicating with the subcon mind. In order to do this, the conscious mind must be relaxed or confused to the point that it no longer responds to action. In a sense, it...
Enough studies have now been accumulated that hypnosis is in fact beneficial in the management and the treatment of a vast range of conditions and problems. In 2006, a study testing whether hypnosis was as effective as conventional methods to help people stop smoking displayed that 36% of the participants to partake in hypnosis did in fact kick the habit, as apposed to the 23% that chose a conventional method . Capitalism and Communism are very different to each other and different in their political and economic ideas. They could never go together. Capitalism vs Communism is a debate that is a battle between two extreme social and economic factors. These are theories that represent two different and opposite ways of thinking. One is extremely individual (Capitalism), While the other one (Communism) it believes that putting society before it self. The communism vs capitalism clash with each other during the cold war. A straight comparison between communism and capitalism that they which discusses the pros and cons of both ideas or ideals. Capitalism is where you start a new company and who ever made the company would get all the money and the workers who would work for the company would not get much money at all. Communism is where you are forced to work from the government and when you get paid everyone would get equal rights with money.
