Graduation

Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life.
I can almost remember that day like it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, the rays of sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn’t seen light in days. I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of my warm bed, retiring to the bathroom to perform my normal morning rituals shower, shave, brush my teeth, get dressed, do my hair, and all the other regulars. Essay about Life after High School Graduation - ... Where’s the sense in that. Where’s that idea of free will and individuality. Those things come after high school and college, once you finally enter the “outside world”. In nearly every class, students are expected to sit down with a freshly sharpened number two pencil by their side and ready to “learn”. You’re often placed into a class with a huge group of people (sometimes up to thirty kids in one class) in which you all move at the same pace. If you don’t understand the material, that’s too bad....   [tags: philosphical anlaysis] 790 words

Lack of School Flexibility: Is This What Led to High School Dropouts? Essay - ... When interest is lost by a student one can pretty much say that they are gone. “The streets” and the school system are in competition and “the streets” are winning right about now. When “the streets” are more interesting to students, they begin to stray away from the school system. Many high school students have taken that step into adulthood. This could mean that they have had children of their own or have been put in situations to act as head of household (Azzam 91-93). The school system is not structured to fit the circumstances of these students....   [tags: increasing high school graduation rates]

High School Graduation Essay example - Graduation Epidemic My high school graduation was one of the saddest moments of my life. Although I was excited about graduating, I did not know what I was going to do with the rest of my life. In Maya Angelou’s “Graduation,” Angelou was excited and proud of all that she had accomplished. In Flannery O’Connor’s “A Late Encounter With the Enemy,” Sally Poker Sash was proud that she was finally graduating and just wanted to show that off to all the “upstarts”. In the two readings the pupils are contrasting in a few different areas, and a couple of those areas are in pride and feelings that their families have being involved in the graduation....   [tags: Personal Narrative] 658 words

High School Graduation Rates in California and the United States Based on Race and Ethnicity - Between 1990 and 2012, high school graduation rates in 25-29-year-olds have increased from 86 to 90 percent; this overall national rise is reflected in each of the ethnicities, White, Hispanic, Black, and Asian/Pacific Islander (National Center for Education Statistics [NCES], 2013a). Prior to 2012, nationwide standardized objective measures did not exist for measuring four-year high school graduation rates; tracking educational progress varied from state to state. Thus, state education data collected from 1990-2012 are inaccurate as effective comparative groups unless knowledge of the state-specific previous methodologies is utilized (U.S....   [tags: social issues, race, ethnicity]

Graduation Day Essay - For most people their graduation day is one of the best days of their lives. No more high school, and for some it means that they are now able to move out on their own and embark on the independent journey of college. In my case my graduation day started out to be a great day but turned out to be one of the worst. It is almost as if I wish I never had a ceremony. If there wasn't graduation ceremony there wouldn't have been an accident. On June 13, 2011, I woke up a happy and excited 17 year old for it was my graduation day and that meant no more high school, no more nagging teachers, and no more drama....   [tags: Personal Narrative, High School Graduation] 1306 words
