Abortion - No Right or Wrong Answer
I chose abortion as the topic of my research paper because it is a very important and controversial subject, and although I have always leaned heavily toward pro-choice, I really hadn’t done much reading about it and wanted to support my position.
The definition of abortion is “expulsion of the fetus from the uterus, due to any cause, before the twenty-eighth week of pregnancy.” Abortions are broken down into the following six categories:
(1) Habitual abortion, the tendency in some women for pregnancies to end in spontaneous abortions.
(2) Incomplete abortion, one in which the fetus is expelled[…]dilation may be required to empty the uterus.
(3) Induced abortion, intentional termination of pregnancy by a surgical procedure.
(4) Septic abortion, abortion accompanied by bacterial infection of the uterus.
(5) Spontaneous abortion, one which has not been deliberately induced. Spontaneous abortions are often preceded by fetal death.
(6) Therapeutic abortion, termination of pregnancy in order to safeguard the health of the mother.”
Although abortion is considered one of those things that is terrible to do, some mothers-to-be feel it is the best option for them and others feel it is not an option at all. It appears there are many different reasons that a woman would get an abortion. Some seem like they should not be done, but others are very understandable. Abortion is one of the most discussed and controversial topics in the United States. To be pro-choice means to want abortion to be legal and available to women. To be pro-life means to not want abortion to be legal and all babies to be born. There are many opinions published by many different people, and in order to completely understand which side of the issue to believe in, a person must know both sides of the situation. It is something that presidents discuss and share their views on while campaigning for election. There has been lots of controversy over abortion as to whether it should be legal or to what extent, or whether it should be legal at all. My personal opinion is that people should not have abortions, but I do believe that mothers-to-be should have the right to have them since we do have the resources available. It is easy to say one way or the other on the issue of abortion, but I think the key thing is to be able to back up your...

... really no right or wrong answer to the issue of abortion, you either are pro-life, pro-choice, or maybe like me, somewhere in between. There is no way that every person is ever going to share the same views on this very controversial issue. People just need to listen to ideas, do research and try to get their own opinions while knowing what they truly believe in. Personally after doing all of this research I have kind of went back and forth on the way I believe. Though I will stay with my original thought, that people should not have abortions, but I do believe that mothers-to-be should have the right to have them since we do have the resources available, it is their choice.

This is called the right to bear arms and is guarantee under the U.S. Constitution. The second amendment clearly states that “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” The first ten amendments are also known as the Bill of Rights. Therefore, the pro-gun activists are right. The right to bear arms like the right to free speech should be protected. However, the pro-gun activists do not the fully understand the reasons for this right. The right is for protection not from burglars but from Indians and the state. At the time the U.S. Constitution was written, many American families were living on the frontier lines where there would be a continual threat from Indians. The U.S. had a standing army but it was too far and is not readily available to protect these families when Indians would attack. This made it necessary for families to have guns in the home. The Indians were an external threat. An internal threat was the government. In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote that if a government failed to protect its citizen and instead became the enemy, the citizens had the right to overthrow it. After the Revolutionary War, the Founding Fathers did not want to replace an oppressing army which was the British with one of their own. They felt that an armed citizen was the best type of army. This is what was meant by a well regulated militia. The militia would consist of every able-bodied man who was trained using their own arms for purposes of local defense and in actual military events. This local well regulated militia is the equivalent of the National Guard. In present times, we no longer have the need to protect ourselves from Indians. As for an oppressed government, we have our National Guard. The original intent of the right to bear arms does not apply to modern
Abortion: the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus (Psychology in Action 10th ed.)
Abortion is the termination of a human pregnancy that does not end in birth of a child. There are two types of abortion-medical abortion and surgical abortion. Medical abortion can be done before 49 days of pregnancy by using pharmaceutical drugs. Surgical abortion takes place by using surgical instruments between 6-14 weeks of pregnancy. Both methods are safe. It depends on the size of fetus and week of pregnancy. An abortion, which is the removal of a fetus from a woman’s body, should be allowed because of women’ s freedom, life opportunities and victim protection.
The Health Foundation describes patient centred care as being a type of health system where patients take control of their
As defined by the Merriam- Webster dictionary, abortion is “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by resulting in or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus as a spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during
The first part of this is respect for human dignity which is the need for and right to health care is universal, transcending all differences (Code, 2015). The second part of the first provision is about relationships with patients. Nurses set up relationships of trust and provide nursing services according to need, setting aside any bias or prejudice (Code, 2015). When a patient choices are risky, nurses have to discuss the behavior and offer opportunities to change the behavior to eradicate the risk (Code, 2015). The third part of the first provision is about the nature of health. Nurses should respect the dignity and rights of all human beings regardless of the factors contributing to the person’s health status (Code, 2015). The fourth part of the first provision is the right to self-determination. Patients have the moral and legal right to decide what will happen with and to their own person (Code, 2015). The fifth and last part of the first provision is the relationship with colleagues and others. This part is about respect for persons extends to all people with whom the nurse interacts (Codes,
Animal testing has been used for developing and researching cures for medical conditions. For example, the polio vaccine, chemotherapy for cancer, insulin treatment for diabetes, organ transplants and blood transfusions are just some of the important advances that have come from research on animals (“Animal Testing”). Consuming animals for research benefits in developing various treatments and also benefits in discovery better methods for cures. According to the article “Animal Testing”, it says that the underlying rationale for the use of animal testing is that living organisms provide interactive, dynamic systems that scientists can observe and manipulate in order to understand normal and pathological functioning as well as the effectiveness of medical interventions. It relies on the physiological and anatomical similarities between humans and other animals (MacClellan, Joel). Meaning that animals have the same body components and features as humans and is the best thing to research on to better understand the human development. Even though several argue that animal testing is harming the animals, one has to think back to all the benefits that has come from it. There may be a little remorse for endangering animal lives, but realizing how far medicine has come makes it worth the while.
Person centred care, is in essence, one of the most important and significant aspects in delivering effective and unique care within nursing practice. The phrase has been embedded within healthcare practice with individuals somewhat understanding the components of its meaning yet not quite comprehending how to express the concept when delivering care. With its prevalence comes a need for it to be better understood in order for effective practice to occur and for this reason it has become a prominent focus point for various academics. Brendan McCormack and Tanya McCance acknowledged person centred care to have a primary focus on traits including therapeutic relationships; individuality; human rights and the promotion of autonomy so that individuals
Abortion is a common practice that may be performed for several reasons, all sharing the same end result, the termination of an unwanted pregnancy. In cases such as rape, incest or a simple lack of responsibility when having sex, having an abortion is a choice that some women may encounter. There are different types of abortion in today’s society. Some which are too scary to even dream of. There are two types of abortions: Spontaneous abortions; miscarriages and Induced, this is the deliberate termination of the fetus.
An abortion is the act of removing a human embryo or fetus. A woman can only be under twenty-four weeks pregnant in order to have an abortion. If the woman is over twenty-four weeks pregnant she cannot have an abortion, because after twenty-four weeks the baby is already starting to grow and produce.
The new movement, known as food sovereignty, stresses local agriculture. Much like food security, the definition of food sovereignty has been somewhat apt to change. In 1996, La Via Campesina (an agricultural peasant movement, literally “the Peasant’s Way,” defined food sovereignty as “ the right of each nation to maintain and develop its own capacity to produce its basic foods respecting cultural and productive diversity.” Written six years later, the definition of food sovereignty by the Peoples Food Sovereignty Network states, “Food sovereignty is the right of peoples to define their own food and agriculture; to protect and regulate domestic agricultural production and trade in order to achieve sustainable development objectives; to determine the extent to which they want to be self reliant; to restrict the dumping of products in their markets; and to provide local fisheries-based communities the priority in managing the use of and the rights to aquatic resources.” Because food sovereignty is such a broad topic, the authors of this definition took that into consideration when redefining the term. The diversity of opinions, positions, issues, and politics is clearly present in the text; from the need for sustainable development objectives to the needs of fishing villages to manage aquatic resources. Patel states that food sovereignty is a “big tent” capable of encompassing many smaller
Respecting the clients dignity is critical therapeutic communication (p.94). On the other hand, clients and their families must also show respect to the nurses and other health care team. Sometimes clients and their families who do not share the same cultural values and norms with nurses and the other health care team end up disrespecting the health care workers and this creates conflict. Dignity and respect should occur for everyone involved in patient
An ideal leader must be assertive in the sense that he is able to stand up for himself without undue anxiety, express his beliefs and honest feelings comfortably in direct and honest ways without denying the rights of others. This would enable him to lead his people in unison. Machiavelli says that, "it is necessary to be a great pretender and a dissembler"(Machiavelli 186). If this were true of our time, then it any liar could be considered a good

Researchers say without animal experimentation we would not have many medicines we have today or the knowledge we have gained from animal experimentation to make scientific advancements (Badyal). Many of the cures that we have developed over the years are only present because of the research that has been performed on animals (Brooks). It was shown that a percentage of deaths decreased due to founded information from the testing (Brooks). Doing the research helps scientists get a better idea how to cure Cancer and other serious illnesses (Brooks). In the past centuries, medical research has only been possible through animal testing. Since then, however, many alternatives have been created (Badyal) that prove to be more reliable and have been used in vital research such as treatments to certain diseases (Badyal). These alternative methods to animal tests are said to be less expensive and to have more predictable
