Descriptive Statement
The purpose of this document is to give a sample of my beliefs about classroom
management and how I would use my beliefs in my ideal classroom someday. The beliefs I have
on classroom management have developed over a period of classroom observations and also
from my Classroom Management course at Manchester College. In this document I have laid
out what my personal beliefs are with classroom management, my top ten beliefs on classroom
management, the routines and procedures to be implemented into my classroom, how I plan on
implementing my management plan, and also a parent letter. Each part is important in having a
successful classroom management plan.
Philosophy of Classroom Management
My philosophy of classroom management comes from several theorists, including Fred
Jones, Barbara Coloroso, Kagan, Kyle, and Scott, and Marvin Marshall. All of these theorists
played an important role in developing a classroom management plan that works for me. I was
not able to just pick one theorist to base my philosophy on since each part of my classroom
management plan reflects a different aspect from each theorist. In Fred Jones theory I really
agree with several accepts in his theory including the importance of classroom arrangement,
getting students engaged in learning, incentives, and students taking responsibilities. Just like
Fred Jones, Barbara Coloroso’s theory matches a lot of what I see in a good classroom
management plan. She believes in inner discipline and also a community of learners. I feel both
of those aspects are important in my classroom management plan. Next Kagan, Kyle, and Scott
share a lot of the same beliefs as Fred Jones and Barbara Coloroso,...

students need to slow down and reevaluate their behavior and change it. If the students make it
to the red plate, after repeated attempts to change their behavior a note will be sent home explain
you student’s misbehaviors or rule violations throughout the day. This system is another way I
plan on teaching the students about responsibilities and taking ownership of their mistakes.
I plan on having a very successful year with your son or daughter. I hope you are just as excited
as I am about the new year and your child’s educations. My classroom is always open for you to
come in and visit. If you have any questions regarding your child’s education or behaviors in my
classroom please feel free to call me at school 555-5555 ext.1. I look forward to another great
year!!!
Sincerely,
Veterans have struggles with their civilian life after separating from the U.S Armed Forces. Returning to the civilian life seem to be a big challenge for veterans who have no prior job’s skills for civilian life because they had been influenced from military’s training, have physical and psychological damage.
Both were interested in the life Melton McLaurin was living. However, Jerry took a special interest in the social life; while, Miss Carter was more interested in his academic career. Their interest, caused a strong and deep bond with the two. They taught him an abundance of life 's lessons. Such as , being an honorable man and to respect others. Many of which , were instilled by his grandfather. But, the realization that segregation was an issue that some couldn 't get over was when Melton returned home from college and saw Jerry and was referred to as a “ mister.” McLaurin had respected them much more then any other black person in Wade, and to hear this respect he was given he was left in a
While reading through the pages of “Separate Pasts: Growing up in the Segregated South” the author gives many details of his life growing up in the village of Wade. There are several things noticed during the course of this book, one can almost hear McLaurin tell the stories of his past and reading the words I could tell he was at times curious. But there were also times of guilt for the way he was brought up to treat the “blacks” of wade. McLaurin also had respect and sometimes it seemed he was envious of some of the black people he came in contact with. There were also times of depression within his own family. We will revisit some of his stories and reflect on some of the details of his life growing up.
... incident with Sam or his affection with Betty Jo could be used to show that he still cared about the African Americans but was also superior. Many of the White children in Wade had this problem; they felt that they had responsibilities to hold but still knew to care and show respect towards the African Americans.
America is the land of opportunity and the land of second chances. People come to America to live a better life, but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. When Veterans come back home, all they want is a second chance at life again. They want to come back and be able to start from where they left off. But the government has done very little to help these veterans. The government believes they have done enough with the programs they have created, but it hasn’t had much of a change. The purpose of this essay is to discuss my opinion and what I know about this issue, to benefit The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, who are my intended audience. If the government were to put a lot of effort, like they do for pointless issues, there wouldn’t be many struggling veterans. If the government does more to improve every aspect of the reintegration process of veterans, so many benefits would come out of this action. There are a couple of reasons for why we should work toward improving veterans lives. First, there would possibly be a decrease in the veteran suicide levels and a decrease in the substance abuse aspect. Second, less veterans and families will have to worry about living and struggling with mental illnesses. Third, by improving the economical aspect for these veterans, more will find jobs and less will end up on the street homeless. And lastly, the reintegration process won’t be as hard for these veterans, and they will be able to resume a normal life. This essay is not meant to offend in any way, its purpose is to provide a new perspective over this issue, to cause a change for the better.
Being a military veteran can have both positive and negative effects on one’s ability to maintain a job and socialize with other people. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is usually a problem with soldiers coming back from war, although after a veteran recovers from it, it creates great job opportunities. Business leaders recognize how useful a military veteran is in the work force. Veterans tend to show great responsibility, leadership, and team work which make them the ideal employee for many jobs.
The Servicemen’s Readjustment Act of 1944, also known as the GI Bill of Rights (GI Bill), was signed into law on June 22, 1944, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt (United States Department of Veterans Affairs, 2012). It was a pivotal point in history, which has impacted the United States socially, economically and politically. Today, educational benefits are primary tools used to recruit service members. In 2007-2008, about 4 percent of all undergraduates and about 4 percent of all graduate students were veterans or military service members (Radford, 2011). Furthermore, the recent expansions in benefits increase the use of education benefits by veterans will grow almost 5 percent (Simon, Negrusa, & Warner, 2009). To improve the success in higher education, veterans must ensure they keep updated on current educational assistance programs as well as other educational services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and their institutions.
... we may see a serious act in the near future to start the process of drilling. With a solid combination and profitability factor the U.S. could prevent the rising gasoline prices. We need to however, continue our search for other alternatives do to our limited resource of oil. For this reason, I am in favor of opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling and also the exploration of alternative fuel sources, as well as ways to conserve fuel. This combination should provide the United States with an energy policy that is both financially stable and environmentally sound.
The unemployment rate for veterans is still pretty high when compared to that of all Americans. The overall unemployment rate in America was nearly seven percent in December (Gilliland). Even though the unemployment rate for veterans is lower than the national unemployment rate, there are many veterans who are in the United States labor force. In October 2013, eighty-one percent of post-September eleventh veterans were part of the United States labor force (Starr). This means that they could work or were already working.
...articipate in the ACAP program to utilize the employment transition program a drop in unemployment will occur as well as drop in veteran suicide rates.
...ocial Security Administration has not collected the disability award information for the first 3 months of 2014, therefore, the forecast can have at most 92 data points. Since there is a lack of historical data available, the forecast accuracy will be negatively affected. Another problem encountered in making this forecast was that there were very few variables related to veteran unemployment that are calculated monthly. While the independent variables chosen do have significant impact on the veteran unemployment rate, the forecast would only be enhanced if information such as veteran disability awards and veteran educational enrollment was calculated on a per month basis instead of quarterly or every fiscal year. However, while the variables used in the forecast may not be perfect, they still will be able to give a fairly accurate forecast of veteran unemployment.
When I am teaching in a high school someday, what philosophies will be evident in my classroom? What methods will I use to reach my students? In my present education, I am beginning to think carefully and deeply about these issues. From what I have read and learned and from comparing various philosophies with each other, I have come to realize that I am a strong essentialist, and I also see many strong points in progressivism and behaviorism.
... behaviors. It is important not focus on the past so I will encourage the student to bring their homework with them in the future. I will instead focus on the positive goals that I have set with the student. This will encourage future positive behavior.
I believe Classroom Management is the main component in the educational setting. I believe if students are in a safe environment, then learning can take place. This doesn’t mean punishing behavior problems but rather a combination of setting the tone in a class, preventing behavior problems with interesting and engaging curriculums and effectively including all students in the classroom so that their needs are met. Having the right environment for all students to learn is my major goal of implementing good classroom management--without it the students would not be able to learn.
Upon entering the field of education, I am faced with many questions. Will the students like me? Will I have a large class? Will I be a good teacher? A few of the questions that definitely need to be answered before I enter the classroom, are what methods should I use to teach? What aspects of which methods will work best for me? What philosophy best exemplifies the way I want to bestow the learning process to my students? In my quest to become an elementary teacher I shall use a variety of aspects from past philosophers of education. As long as each child is learning, I feel that I am fulfilling my goal, and a difference is being made, I am on my way to a successful classroom.
