...t entertainment went far beyond gags. Audiences had to be taken out of themselves, and transported into a fantasy world.
?At first the cartoon medium was just a novelty, but it never really began to hit until we had more than tricks.. . .until we developed personalities. We had to get beyond getting a laugh. They may not roll in the aisles, but that doesn?t mean that you don?t have a great picture. You have to have pathos in the thing.? Walt Disney

"There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children" (Nelson Mandela). If this statement is considered true, then it's fair to say that during times of the Holocaust, the German society was at an all time low. Children during the Holocaust did not have a carefree childhood, like they should have, but instead were placed under strenuous conditions. They had to go through being separated from all family and friends, being chosen the first to go to, and in most cases a permanent loss of family members. The Holocaust was undoubtedly a horrific experience for everyone involved but for children it must have been traumatizing.
During the rule of Adolf Hitler, many children who were Jewish lived a very frightening and difficult life. They never were given the love and compassion that every child needs and deserves growing up. The Holocaust is a story that will continue to be shared till the end of time.

The females and stereotypes in Disney animated films gradually changed over the years; From the early 1900s, beginning with their first feature film Snow White (1937) to their most recent box office film Frozen (2013). Since the Walt Disney Company was founded in 1923, the way the roles of women were portrayed depended on the time period.
Mr. Disney has made a few animated short films that have been very successful, but his first attempt at a full-length animated feature film was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The film was based on the fairy tale written by the Brothers Grimm. The movie was released on December 21, 1937 and earned $8 million during its initial release, making it the most successful movie of its time. They story is about Snow White, a princess, who is living with her stepmother who is mean and wicked. She is assumed to take over the kingdom ...
“One of the most extraordinary aspects of Nazi genocide was the cold deliberate intention to kill children in numbers so great that there is no historical precedent for it.” (Lukas, 13 Kindle) About 1.5 million children were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust—one million being killed because they were Jews (ushmm.org) The Germans had a clearly defined goal of killing the Jewish children so that there would be no remnants of their race to reproduce, resulting in extinction. Not only were the children that were victimized in the Holocaust persecuted and murdered, but they were all stripped of their childhood. Children were not allowed to be children—they had to, for their own survival, be adults. The oppression of children because of race was a direct result of Hitler’s cruel policies and beliefs. In order to stifle the Jewish race from growing, the children were the first to be slaughtered at extermination camps (ushmm.org).

Walt Disney rose up from humble beginnings. His childhood was anything but stable as his family moved throughout the Midwest because of his father’s work. Although his strings of early letdowns made it seem like success would never come, Walt Disney became highly successful in animation. During the 1930’s, Disney became determined to create a feature length animated film. Although many told him he would not be able to produce an animated cartoon that would hold an audience beyond seven minutes long, he continued to try. “Only a few years later, in 1938, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was a major success.” (Source 1) Walt Disney created seven noticeably individual personalities, something that had never before been accomplished in animation. Following this film came a steady flow of animated features including Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and 101 Dalmatians. But animation was not the only thing that helped Walt Disney become a big hit. He dreamed of having a park in which would not contain the menace of carnival freaks, barkers and thrill rides. He wished to have a park which would attract many different ages of children. Although Walt Disney died in 1966, his dream came true after his death. Five years later his Florida Park opened, and Walt Disney World became the uncompromised and unfet...
Hand, D. (Supervising Director) and Disney, W. (Producer). (1937). Snow White and the seven dwarfs.
While classics are always cherished, Walt Disney always had a wonderful imagination that took him far and brought new life to the film industry. He took classic tales and made them into family movies that all ages would enjoy. The original version of Snow White tells a darker story, one that would not have been accepted as well as the version that Disney created. Grimm’s version of Snow White depicts the queen as more of a mad and disturbing woman rather than a evil witch. In the original tale, the queen cooks what she thinks is Snow’s heart and eats it in triumph. Once she learns of the truth, the then finds Snow White and pulls the laces on her dress so tight that the girl falls over, seemingly dead. In the end, the queen is invited to Snow’s wedding where she had prepared red-hot iron shoes and the evil stepmother danced herself to death. Walt Disney took this tale and changed it of the better, receiving much praise and standing ovation at its first showing. Disney fans will appreciate Mirror Mirror as yet another wonderful retelling of Walt Disney’s first ever animated
The question, “Is alcohol advertising the cause of underage drinking?” seems to flow through the minds of many American families. The answer to the question largely depends upon the families view on drinking in general. Some homes encourage drinking every once in a while, for social purposes; while others condemn it all together. The topic is very controversial with several factors weighing in such as religion, family background, and health. Despite the differing views, statistics have shown that underage drinking has reached a new height this past year. What is the cause of this rise in adolescent drinking? I will be reviewing the work of four different authors in an attempt to answer this question.
The Walt Disney Company commonly referred to as ‘Disney’ is as a result of a dream of a man named Walter. In an article by Mink in 2007, titled Walt Disney designed dreams; he says, “Walt was never afraid to dream. That song from Pinocchio, 'When You wish upon a Star,' is the perfect summary of Walt's approach to life: dream big dreams, even hopelessly impossible dreams, because they can come true. Sure, it takes work, focus and perseverance. However anything is possible.” His dreams became a reality in the year 1923 when he and Roy Disney, established the Disney Brothers studio and started to create animated films. Their creations hit the market and in 1937 one of their creation; 'snow white and the seven dwarfs' was listed among the a hundred greatest films in America. The list was produced by the American Film Institute.
Letter from an Unknown Woman (Max Ophüls; 1948 United States) is a melodrama film that revolves around a woman’s love for a man who does not acknowledge her existence. Like the other films Max Ophüls directed in America, Letter from an Unknown Woman focuses on “impossible love” (Danks, n.d. p. 98).
Before Walt Disney ever came up with the idea of Snow White and The Seven dwarfs, the fairy tale was very popular in Germany (history.com). Snow White was originally written for storytelling, by the Brothers’ Grimm. The movie by Walt Disney was actually based off this movie. In 1912 a version of the fairy tale, from Germany, made its way onto Broadway.
