Writing Style is Important
Before expounding on the elements and forms of style, there are two main questions that should be asked: What is style, and why should one be concerned with it? In answer to the first question, I believe that style is choice. One’s style is determined by the types of words he chooses, and the diction with which he displays them. A style can be casual or formal, simple or verbose; every time an author writes something, he is making decisions on how he wants to present his information. For instance, I just chose to use the pronoun ‘he’ in this paragraph, rather than ‘she,’ or the epicene ‘they.’ I made this decision feeling that by using ‘he’ I am being as clear as I can, though I know the consequence is that I may sound sexist.
The second question, why should we be concerned with style, is answered in the books The Elements of Style, by Strunk and White, and Style Toward Clarity and Grace, by Joseph Williams. Strunk and White believed in a prescriptivist method to writing, in which writers follow many tiny grammatical rules. Conversely, Williams looks more at the ‘big picture,’ focusing more on improving writing as a whole rather than on individual rules of grammar. However, they all agree that good style is clear and intelligible, and that writers should write with their readers in mind. They believe that style is important because it affects the readers’ ability to understand and enjoy writing.
The books The Elements of Style and Style Toward Clarity and Grace are both different and alike. The authors are quite dissimilar, as are the attitudes, form, and set-up of their books. However, the authors Strunk and White and the author Joseph Williams (the writers of these two books, respectiv...

...views as objective rules, and Williams shows his as well-supported suggestions, both books say that the best style of writing is a clear one. After all, unless one is writing strictly for himself, as in a journal, a piece of writing that alienates and confuses its readers is simply not effective, as it doesn’t properly get its message across. All three authors believe that to write is to communicate, and both books were written in the hopes of helping the reader learn how to communicate clearly and effectively. Style is choice, and good style is a result of making good choices; choices that cater to the reader, and not the author.

Author’s style is defined as the distinct literary manner that makes his or her expression of content unique from other authors; Katherine Anne Porter and Emily Dickinson have different styles that contribute to a better understanding of the themes of their work. In “The Jilting of Granny Weatherall” Porter uses the strea...
Joseph Williams book Style Toward Clarity and Grace expanded the seed that was planted by the Strunk and Williams book and took my thoughts on style to a higher level. With his sometimes exhaustive examples and in depth discussions Williams paints a much more vivid picture of what writing with “style” is.
Insulin represents one of the most important hormones in the body for its involvement in control and regulation of blood glucose in humans and in most vertebrates. Insulin acts on cells by stimulating glucose, protein and lipid metabolism, RNA and DNA synthesis via modification of enzymes activities and their transport system. Insulin continues by executing acts on cellular levels, initiated by its binding to plasma membrane receptors. These membrane receptors are presents on mammalian tissues with different concentration levels, varying between 40 receptors on circulating erythrocytes to receptors of approximately 200,000 on adipocytes and hepatocytes. Insulin receptors activation results in internal cellular mechanisms directly affecting glucose uptake. When an insulin control mechanism fails, the occurring result is diabetes mellitus condition. The binding of Insulin to extracellular part of its receptors (alpha subunits) leads to conformation changes, necessary for activation of kinase domains existing in the intracellular site of beta subunits. Clinically there are evidences illuminating insulin exogenous and endogenous inability to increase glucose uptake and utilization. This inability is term insulin resistance, it occurs due to clusterization of cardiovascular metabolic abnormalities resulting in insulin resistance syndrome/metabolic syndrome, which can leads to development of type 2 diabetes and other well-known illnesses.
Organizational communication is a sustainable system of people working together to achieve a common goal, through division levels of stratification according to rank and duty (Everet M. Rogers). Communication is the means whereby organizations coordinate management of material resources and human resources through formal structural pattern of the duties and authority (Robert Bonnington).Communication organizations are sending and receiving various messages in the cluster formal organization or informally from an organization (Wiryanto, 2005). In organization, the communication has provided four distinct directions, downward, upward, horizontal and diagonal. But, I was doing the research about downward communication and upward communication. There are downward communications is much more prevalent in organization than upward communication.

For a writer to better understand style, multitudes of books and helpful guides have been published. Many are written as lists of rules about word choice, constructions to avoid, common stylistic traps, and other such things. One of these is The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr. and E.B. White. Another type are the books that go into more detail that further explain why some things work in writing and some things don’t. Style Toward Clarity and Grace by Joseph M. Williams would fall into this category. Although written in a different manner they share the same goal; to present some of the most important rules in writing and style.
There is a plethora of research on insulin receptor structure since it has many vital functions within the body and because of its function or lack of function in such a prevalent disease as diabetes. As mentioned before insulin receptor is a homodimeric protein containing two α and two...

Until June 2010, KFC has over 3,000 outlets in China, whereas McDonald’s operates 1,100, or only one third as many (Ministryoftofu.com 2011), one of the key reasons behind such difference is the local food cultural differences which is different from the US style fast food and KFC has been adapting their products to the local needs. Kentucky Fried Chicken entered the Chinese from the beginning with the focus on the special nature of the Chinese market; they are caring about the Chinese culture and consumer habits through in-depth research and investigation, recognizing China’s market and Western European and American markets with unique features. KFC continue to meet consumer demand in the Chinese people and added a lot
KFC is one of the most popular fast-food restaurant chains by the Yum! Brands and fried chicken is what the company specializes. KFC was founded by Harland Sanders, which was later known as Colonel Sanders. Moreover, KFC was one of the first fast-food restaurant chains to expand internationally, including the opening outlets in Beijing, China, in November 1987 (KFC Website, 2013). The fact that KFC was the first Western fast food company in China makes it very challenging to satisfy the Chinese market. Trying to sell the same products or services is a typical approach to most foreign expansion for franchise businesses (Bell, 2011). However, one-size fits all approach is not what KFC chooses to apply for their company. According to Shelman, the writer of the case study regarding KFC’s Explosive Growth in China, key success for KFC China is to change the menu to suit Chinese tastes and style of eating (Starvish, 2011). “One of the lessons I take away from this case is that to ...
The research objective of this case study is to find out the potential reasons why KFC achieve greater success over McDonald’s in China market, which is contradictory in most other countries.
In the 1970s and 1980s, China's restaurants were mainly state-owned enterprises and collective-owned enterprises. After economic reform and opening up, however, the restaurant industry experienced dramatic changes. Huge quantitative expansion, scale-based chain development and brand upgrading, were areas of significant change.
Now days , the customers so awareness of the fast food industries and its ingredients like no effected, no allergy, fresh, pure and others food which will be available on time in related area. Such sort of features are provided by burger fuel and the government policy of china is also welcoming to the foreign investor. It means the government policy is favorable for the foreign investor and franchisor. For instance, the competitors like burger kings, KFC are there in china. Therefore the burger fuel also enter into the Chinese market thorough the franchise and local partnership. Franchising is a rapidly increasing model for business expansion in the retail sectors like fast food industry and it is going to be making their own market in growing service sector of the Chinese economy in the years to come. The growth of modern retail trade has been the driving force behind it. The old age population are very low in china but the active population is very high at the age group 25-54 years is 47.2% (male 327,130,324/ female 313,029,536). Therefore, the target age group is18-35 years, employed and those people are eager to eat at outside. The burger fuel is also totally focus to
... conclusion, to compete with the intense competition in today’s fast-food market, KFC China differentiates the company by being innovative. Three significant innovative strategies are localizing the menu, understanding the Chinese culture, and hiring local management. KFC demonstrates that one size fits all approach in the global market does not always work. Many typical Western approach to foreign expansion is to deliver the same products or services as their original establishment. For instance, Domino’s Pizza, an American restaurant chain, nearly failed in Australia due to the underestimation of the need to adapt their offerings to the local tastes. KFC China offers important lessons for global firms. It is essential to know that to what extend the company should keep the existing business model in emerging markets and to what extend it should be thrown away.
The next kind of communication I would like to cover is upward communication. This is when employees send a message threw the chain of command, to the managers. This type of communication is very good for employees because they feel they are being noticed in the organization. Managers also benefit from this because they learn more about the organization.
