Willy Loman's Lonely Character in Death of a Salesman
Willy Loman died the death of a salesman. He did not, however, die the death of popular man. No one cared when he committed suicide. Willy should be looked upon with sympathy. Though he was a respectable man, no one noticed. He worked hard his entire life. He would drive many miles trying to support his wife and kids, and they still did not appreciate him. Loman is simply a disappointed, lonely, and misunderstood man. These qualities should make the reader feel sympathy for Mr. Loman as he has experienced more than anyone will ever realize.
First, the reader should feel sorrow for Loman because he is disappointed with many aspects of his life. First, he is disappointed in his son Biff, who is suppose to be the star of the family. Each time that Willy interacts with Biff, he is always trying to tell him how great he is going to be in life. Biff never realizes this potential. During the play, Willy thinks back to when Biff was a great athlete in high school. In the scene that features the day when Biff is going to play at Ebbots? field, Willy is in a great mood. The entire family is very excited. Biff even promised his dad a touchdown. One must conclude that this game did not play out in the Loman family?s favor. If Biff played well, Willy would have mentioned it. This game is most likely the beginning of the disappointment in Biff. Willy is also even more disappointed in Biff when he fails senior math. This failing grade means that Biff can not graduate, and he also loses his scholarship to the University of Virginia. All of Willy?s hopes were put into Biff, and he fails. It goes back to the old saying "do not put all your eggs into one basket". One can conclude if tha...

...tried to live out the "American Dream." He wanted to be someone special. He did not realize he was just a dime a dozen. He was a carbon copy of the rest of the traveling salesman in the world. He was just an average man with an average family, who lived from paycheck to paycheck. He just wanted to live out his dream. His family, however, held him back. They ruined him and let him down. They kept him from being the best. If it had not been for Linda, he would have been filthy rich. Willy Loman died the death of a salesman, but he did not die the death of a successful salesman. A successful salesman is someone who people love and care for. Willy Loman only has five people attend his funeral. A successful salesman would have had many people at his funeral. Willy Loman died the death of a normal salesman as he was no different from the rest of the salesman in the world.
The interpretation of the case is just as popular, if not more, than the actual result of the case. The worldwide attention and media coverage the case received produced many opinions. Scholar’s opinions range from describing the case as an irrelevancy and a good show to describing it as a “Watershed in American religious history” (Ronald L. Numbers, 1998, p. 76). A large factor in why the Scopes trial has received so much attention in an insignificant town is because of the stage that the trial was played out on.

People assume that recipients are lazy and that they do not want to work, or that they are very promiscuous women who have children in order to continue receiving help from the government. Paranormal activity better known as parapsychology is a non-fictional idea. Parapsychology is the scientific study of interactions between living organisms and their external environment that seem to transcend the known physical laws of nature. (Teresi, 2000) The Society of Psychical Research was established in London in 1882 (Teresi, 2000). Major parapsychological studies had not begun appearing in mainstream scientific journals until the sixties and early seventies (Teresi, 2000).“Furthermore, groups such as the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP) which publishes the Skeptical Inquirer and the James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) have been formed to disseminate credible information on the paranormal. Credibility should be less of a problem in the future” (Teresi, 2000).
...ican welfare system has many flaws and I have identified major problems and possible solutions/policy recommendations. We can’t completely dismiss government assistance because we are a land of the equality of all and should be proud to have services that help the less fortunate. However, we must identify people who misuse and people who become too comfortable. We can’t continue to fall deeper into debt by supporting people who are not making an effort to support themselves. Nonetheless, we should help and assist those who are constantly trying to become educated, skilled, and experienced enough to become self-sufficient. I will close with a quote from the article about welfare helping a lady survive while she was studying. Currently she has a degree and a job as a manager. “I had clear goals,” “I wasn’t raised to sit at home expecting a check to come in the mail.”

As long as one can remember, paranormal beliefs have always existed in human society. They are living in every man’s childhood and in every corner of human’s life. From the burning belief about Santa Claus’s gifts under a Christmas’s tree in the morning to a scary game about Bloody Mary and her coming back from the dead, it seems that people cannot help but draw themselves to these stories. Even when these beliefs fade, there would be a new one that eventually shows up. No matter how much science has progressed, the belief in paranormal phenomena still remains in society. Eventually, the question about paranormal phenomena seems pale in comparison to the human’s undying belief about such things. It is really hard to pinpoint an exact cause for human’s belief in the paranormal for only one cause is not enough; however, it is sure that psychological, sociological, and biological factors play an enormous role that contributes to this belief.
In the book Death of A Salesman, author Arthur Miller shows how cruel life can be through the life of Willy Loman, the main character. His feelings of guilt, failure, and sadness result in his demise.

In the Death of a Salesman, Willy’s failure as a businessman was due to his failure of character. Willy Loman was never honest with himself and thus he never knew himself. Although, Willy was very good with his hands, he was heavily enchanted by the idea of being a salesman due to a single person, Dave Singleman. In the Second Act, when Willy tries to convince his boss, Howard, to not fire him by giving him his life story, Willy says to Howard,

Technology already plays a huge role in the lives of students. Present day high school students have grown up with computers and the Internet being as ubiquitous as televisions and radios to the previous generation (Bennett, Maton, & Kervin, 2008). Students rely heavily on electronic and digital communications such as email, texting, and mobile phones (Rideout, Foehr, & Roberts, 2010). Technology has gottenget in the habit of not using this word a lot when writing scholarly paper. Use "become" for instance, in this s...
