Apartheid, means "separateness", this was a social system enforced by
white minority governments in twentieth-century upon those of ethnic
minorities in South Africa. Under apartheid, the black majority was
segregated, and was denied political and economic rights equal to
those of whites, this had become a distressing daily routine for the
Africans. Therefore in 1991 when De Klerk announced the end of
Apartheid, this was a momentous moment for the whole of South Africa
and an event, which shall be remembered, in black history forever.
After over 50 years of apartheid policies the Africans were finally
freed from confinements as the law accounted upon them as equals.
However, the question as been raised, as to why did De Klerk put a
sudden end Apartheid, and what had influenced his decision in doing
so. Throughout this section of this coursework, I shall be analysing
the circumstances of South Africa in order to confirm who was more
important in bringing about the end of apartheid and minority rule, De
Klerk or Nelson Mandela?
Nelson Mandela and F.W de Klerk played a vital part in bringing about
the end apartheid and minority rule in South Africa. However, their
reasons for wanting the apartheid to end deviate significantly.
Nelson Mandela was involved in the main resistance against apartheid,
the African National Congress, or ANC for short. This large political
group in South Africa was involved in many protests against apartheid
since its formation in 1912. Mandela joined the Youth League of the
ANC in 1944 but had doubts about his commitment to the party. In 1948
the Youth League elected a new ANC president in response to the...

the end of apartheid due to his constant exertions and fights against
it. However, Mandela cannot be completely commended for his efforts in
the termination of the Apartheid. As although, Mandela fought against
the apartheid for the best years of his life, on the other hand
received no reactions from the Government to his efforts to remove the
apartheid. Therefore indicating De Klerk played a crucial part in the
anti-apartheid movement as he was president and had the power to end
apartheid whilst Mandela didn?t. Overall, making the end of Apartheid
a joint combination of both FW de Klerk?s efforts in the negotiations
between the National party, although more so, Mandela?s and the ANC
progress and constant dedication which helped to bring about the end
of minority rule.
The Conclusions of the Warren Report In this essay I will discuss the conclusions of the Warren report and

Two star-crossed lovers, destined for death, separated by nothing other than their families inability to cooperate. The classic play ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ written by William Shakespeare within 1599, encompasses relevant messages which have fascinated readers for centuries. In the attempt to re-live Romeo and Juliet's historical tales many modernise versions of the play have been adapted into movies, such as those produced by Baz Luhrmann and Carlo Carlei. Both the aforementioned examples of Romeo and Juliet adhere extremely closely to William Shakespeare's original version of the play for they incorporate all many similarities including the multiple characters, settings and tones of the production which will be expressed below.
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare take place in the fourteenth century in Verona, Italy. Most of the play will take place in Capulet’s house. Romeo and Juliet fall in love at a party. The problem with this is that their families have an ongoing feud that has lasted centuries. They are both aware that their families would not approve of them being together, let alone getting married, so they get married in secret with the help of Friar Laurence and Nurse. All was going well until Romeo kills Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt, in order to get revenge for Tybalt killing someone in his family. He is banished by Prince.Juliet’s parents then tell her she is to marry Paris. At first, Juliet refuses, but then later agrees to marry Paris because of Friar
Good intention will not always lead to a happy ending. When one thinks that they have made a good moral decision, the outcome may differ from the forethought. In Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, many characters thought they were helping the lovers but in fact, they were only assisting them in taking their own lives. Friar Lawrence’s good intention of marrying Romeo and Juliet led to the deaths of Mercutio, Paris, and Romeo and Juliet.
In the tragic play, Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”, Kausse states that “two star-crossed teenagers find one another, fall madly in love and despite their well-thought-out plans, are destroyed by their parents hate as well as other forces beyond their control.” Kausse believes that the “parents hate” is the reason for the teens demise, but it’s actually because of love. Romeo and Juliet never thought through their plans, they were spontaneous. After reading “Romeo and Juliet, any meticulous reader can come to the conclusion that Romeo and Juliet can’t control their emotions. Situations arose and got the best of them.
Long-denied rights and freedoms wouldn’t have been granted to the now multi-racial South Africa, if it hadn’t been been for two icons in black history who battled against Apartheid. The recurring theme in the articles “Steve Biko” and “Obituaries; Nelson Mandela” is that both strongly fought against Apartheid and worked to overturn the oppression of the black race to restore their basic human rights. Steve Biko started his career as an activist at the age of 20 and founded a movement called The Black Consciousness that grew quickly. Because of the growth, the government started to jail hundreds of members of the movement and had the police hack into his phone to watch his every move. Biko was then banned by the government of all methods that supported the struggle, although, despite the ban, Biko continued to support the cause using various illegal strategies. The police soon arrested him without charge and treated him abusively and vulgarly. Biko then died that year due to serious brain damage and 17 years later Nelson Mandela, another leader of the struggle, was elected as president in a free and open election. Hoping to give black South Africans the right to vote along with other rights, and society only getting worse, Mandela opened up the country’s first black law firm in 1952. Then in 1960, 69 peaceful demonstrators were killed, infuriating Mandela, causing him to lead a bombing campaign against official government sites and offices. Because of the campaign, he would then spend the next 27 years of his life in prison doing harsh labor in a limestone quarry. However, the battle wasn’t over yet, as these two demonstrators would continue to fight until the day of the overturn of Apartheid.
In act one scene three of Romeo and Juliet Lord Capulet states “…She hath not seen the change of fourteen years. Ere we may think her ripe to be a bride.” This means that Juliet is not quite fourteen years old and her father is not sure if she is ready to become a wife and mother. There are many differences between how people marry today, and how they married in the time of Romeo and Juliet. Some of the differences are when the people marry, why people marry, and also the level of maturity people marry at.
Through the flaws in the characterization of his characters, Shakespeare allows their weakness to manipulate and cloud their judgment. This fundamentally leads to the outcome of Romeo and Juliet, with each weakness presenting a conflict that alters the characters fate. Being especially true with the star-crossed lovers, William Shakespeare leads their perfect love into tragedy with these conflicts. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet, Friar Lawrence, and Tybalt all contribute to conflicts that enhance the plot. From destructive flaws in their characterizations, Juliet, Friar Lawrence, and Tybalt are all consequently controlled by their weakness, therefore affecting the outcome of the play.
until one person gets killed. In those days if you said no to a duel,
“The time comes in the life of any nation when there remain only two choices: submit or fight” (“Nelson Mandela”). Nelson Mandela took the chance and fought for his rights and freedom. Mandela has gone through many troubles in his life since the day he was born. A young man that had no shoes till he approached the age of sixteen, and then transformed into a great political leader of his country. Mandela’s life is an impressing story to be told!
“To deny people their right to human rights is to challenge their very humanity. To impose on them a wretched life of hunger and deprivation is to dehumanize them. But such has been the terrible fate of all black persons in our country under the system of apartheid (“In Nelson Mandela’s own words”). Nelson Mandela was a moral compass symbolizing the struggle against racial oppression. Nelson Mandela emerged from prison after twenty-seven years to lead his country to justice. For twenty-seven years he sat in a cell because he believed in a country without apartheid, a country with freedom and human rights. He fought for a country where all people were equal, treated with respect and given equal opportunity. Nelson Mandela looms large in the actions of activists and politicians. He inspired music and movies, and swayed the mind of powerful leaders. Making him an influential person who affected American culture.
