Bear Fighting [1] In a typical bear fighting event there are twenty five fights. In
each fight, no matter which of the four provinces the event takes
place, the rules are the same. A bear is tethered to a central pole by
a rope. The length of the rope can vary from two to five metres. Two
bull terriers are set onto the tethered bear. The dogs try to make the
bear roll over. To make the bear roll over, the dogs target the
muzzle, tongue, chin and ears. These parts of the body are the most
sensitive. If a dog does manage to attach his body to one of the
sensitive parts, he can then proceed to pull the bear down and force
it to roll over. The fight ends when either the bear or one of the
dogs falls over. The animal that falls to the ground first, loses. At
any time in the fight, the dogs' owners may pull the bear out of the
fight, if the owner thinks the dog has suffered enough. If this occurs
the bear wins the fight. However the bear must continue with the match
until the end.
WSPA is the 'World Society for the Protection of Animals'. WSPA is
deeply involved in motivating governments all over Europe to put more
money into helping to stop Bear Baiting.
[2]If the Pakistani authorities set up a permanent officer in their
Wildlife Department, WSPA will set up a facility to house confiscated
bears for life. [3] Some people argue that this is still far from
ideal for the bears to be living in captivity and certainly not an
enjoyable experience for the bears. WSPA say this is ridiculous and
that 'all bears that are confiscated will have a...

an event is registered. I on the other hand do not think that bear
baiting should be allowed to continue at all. I think it should be
completely abolished. There should be long jail sentences for anyone
involved in bear baiting. Quite often bears that are badly injured
die, in this case I think anyone involved in the act of killing a bear
should face death penalty. There are death penalties for crimes in
Pakistan such as adultery. Afterall a life for a life.

Hey, I didn’t see you there, how are you?I'm just wondering whether or not a big ol' grizzly bear is going to come charging at me at any point in my life, but seeing as grizzly bears are endangered that probably won't happen. In the past, there were thought to be around 50,000 grizzly bears in North America, nowadays they are growing sparse there are estimated to be only around 1800, now not even a 20th of the population in the past. Most of these grizzlies are located in Yellowstone National Park and Alaska, but they can also be found in Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and Montana. Some are thought to be in Washington.

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, the brown bear is located all throughout Alaska, mostly in areas that allow them to seasonally hunt salmon (Alaska Fish & Game, 2010). This allows them to become larger and live in higher concentrations than the grizzly bear. The traditional brown bear and the grizzly bear are actually both classified as brown bears, despite having several differences in appearance. Brown bears are one of the most fascinating and powerful species in the Alaskan wilderness. Cubs are usually born during January or February, usually in groups of one to four (Alaska Fish & Game). A fully grown, male brown bear can weigh up for 1,500 pounds and be over 10 feet in stature (Alaska Fish & Game, 2010). Brown bears also have the ability to run at speeds up to 40 mph for short bursts of time (Alaska Fish & Game). All of these unique characteristics make many people upset that it is legal to hunt them. There are several groups that are working to conserve the brown bear population, particularly in Alaska, such as The Northern Forum’s Brown Bear Working Group (Fish & Wildlife Journal, 2010). The bear population in Alaska is thriving and is classified as a status of least concern, by the IUCN Red List (IUCN, 2010). Overall, the brown bear population faces no danger whatsoever.

The knot when made with a large enough diameter rope creates a noose. The wraps create a large cylinder mass right above the loop. When placed around the condemned’s neck the noose is usually putt behind the left ear. This knot was designed so that when the person being hanged fell, the knot would deliver a striking blow to the back of the head causing it to snap the fourth and fifth vertebrae in the spinal cord.

The Grizzly bear (Ursus arctos) has long been considered to be the symbol of the wild. They are beautiful, powerful and at the same time vulnerable animals. They are known to survive in remote areas not inhabited by humans. The Grizzly was once able to occupy most of the land from northern Mexico to Alaska and most places in between. With a disappearing natural habitat and one of the lowest reproduction rate of any mammal in North America the Grizzly bear has seen population number fall dramatically. Most Grizzly bears left in the continental United States are located in four states near Yellowstone National Park. Canada has Grizzly populations in five provinces. The state of Alaska has the largest population of these amazing animals. With change in habitat due to human involvement and low reproduction rates, Grizzly bears have had a hard time sustaining population numbers. This has caused them to virtually become non-existent in certain areas of North America and is forcing the bears that are left to move to more sufficient areas that can sustain their populations.
Male Black Bears travel over many miles, sometimes living in an area as large as 60 square miles. Females do not roam as much and live in areas around 15 square miles. Male Bears do not live in the same areas as other males, but many females may live in the same areas. Females are more likely to defend their territory than a male is when an intruder is to enter. These animals determine their territory “by urinating, defecating, and by scratching, rubbing, and biting trees.” (State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, 2014) Most people think that bears live in caves, but bears lives in different places and make their dens out of different things. The dens may be in “open nest, brush piles, fallen trees, rock piles, excavations, hollow trees, and human structures.” (Ternant, 2006)
White Bear, an episode of the TV series “Black Mirror”, can be seen as a critique of today’s criminal justice system. The eye-for-an-eye mentality seen in the show prevents society from improving after a tragic crime and concurs with the concept of capital punishment. Criminals should be rehabilitated in attempt to make them better citizens as opposed to suffering at cost of retributive justice. Sentencing offenders to retribution is very counterintuitive and does more harm than good and the episode “White Bear” can be seen as evidence of this concept. In addition, it is not doing Victoria, the main character, any good having the public ridicule her. The customers of White Bear are so bored with their own lives they find joy in watching others
