Massage Therapy
What kind of career is Massage Therapy? A very interesting and productive career which I would enjoy pursuing. Some reasons that this would be a good career for me are that it pays well, education is not extensive, it helps others, and it is something I am good at and enjoy doing.
There are as many options when it comes to a career in massage as there are people in the field. It can be a full or part-time occupation. There are a variety of places to do massage, many kinds of massage to do, and many different types of patients. Let’s take a closer look at some of the options.
Starting with two main options, a massage therapist can start their own business or work for someone else. However, there are many positives and negatives to both sides. One positive to running your own massage studio is that you keep all the money that originates after expenses. But that is the first negative; the expenses. There are overhead start up costs such as the equipment that must be purchased like the massage table, linens, lotions and oils. You must find a place to run the business and decide whether to buy or rent. If you rent, there is an ongoing cost, as well as heat, water, electricity, and phone. Conversely, if you work for someone else, you don’t have to pay those expenses, but you only get a fraction of the money (about 40%) that the customers pay for your services.
There are a variety of places to seek employment if the decision is to work for someone else. Many chiropractors and physical therapists also house a massage therapist as another source of healing, as do many hospitals, sports medicine clinics, and nursing homes. Or if pleasure is more your style than healing, there are many sports c...

Physical therapists can either specialize in specific areas, like paralysis or orthopedics, or they can treat a broad range of needs. Physical therapy is divided into three basic categories: acute care, neuro-rehab, and outpatient physical therapy. I am particularly interested in acute care, which involves treating patients in the hospital setting. Acute care involves treating patients following surgery, restoring patients' physical activity following an accident or illness, and helping patients to overcome disabilities. Teaching home exercises, preparing rehab programs, and explaining how to use assistive devices are the acute care therapist's main jobs. On the other hand, neuro-rehab physical therapists deal with patients who have long-term injuries, such as spinal cord injuries. Finally, outpatient physical therapists are usually self-employed and generally treat patients in the home. ("Information" 7) All three types of physical therapists perform the same general tasks. The goal of physical therapy is to help patien...

Have you ever been adjusted by a chiropractor? Have you ever been in a chiropractic office? They are always extremely busy and have very wide open space! Chiropractors also like to keep their offices clean and busy with patients so they can get more business. During the day the chiropractors office is very busy. The chiropractors are always nice and respectful to their patients. Do you know anybody that works at a chiropractic office, or even is a chiropractor? Because many chiropractors have their own family, they usually give them free or discounted adjustments. This research paper will talk about the salary, schooling requirements, and the job outlook of the chiropractor. It will also explain what chiropractors do in their job. I hope that I will become a chiropractor someday after all my college years. Hopefully Alex will start a business and invite me and ask me to work for him! He has already talked about starting a business in the tropical islands somewhere. Chiropractors can make a lot of money, they just need to know how to adjust their patients the correct way.
...simple as that. Although I am still in training I know the great effects it has on people because I have seen it first hand. I don’t know how long I will be able to do it though, only after a year my hands and writs are already hurting. What is massage? For me it's part of our family heritage that we're suffering for the lack of, and by not using it we're laying ourselves open to physical problems that shouldn't affect us anywhere near as badly as they do. I believe that by not using massage we're stiffer, tenser, and tireder than we'd be if we took back this ancient and essential part of our birthright.
Some states may or may not require a license or a certified massage therapists. Chiropractors treat by manipulation of the spine to reduce pain and improve function of life. Chiropractors’ level of education could start from a bachelor’s degree till a doctorate. Physical therapists and occupational therapists both provide habilitation and rehabilitation services to the patients. Both need to be licensed. Osteopathic physicians diagnose and treat (medication and surgery) illness of the joints and bones. Osteopathic physicians go through medical school and be board
A career in occupational therapy is challenging, yet rewarding. Someone who is a people person would enjoy the constant interaction with clients and families. After studying this career, it is extremely apparent that all occupational therapists have one thing in common; a love for people and healing.
A physical therapist will help an injured or sick person feel better and get their normal body functions back to normal again. A physical therapist will help strengthen the injured part of the patient so that a recurring injury is not likely to happen. They will also help a patient recover after a surgery, stroke, heart attack, or rehabilitate somebody that has had a life threatening event happen. The work environment for a physical therapist is usually in a hospital, although, they can provide home health care services or work in their own building. It is uncommon for a physical therapist to have a office in a physician's office. As of 2015, more than 200 programs to become a physical therapist were offered to obtain a required Doctor
Massage therapy brings an incredible amount of benefits. From the heart and organs to nerves and muscles, the entire body can see the impact of massage's health benefits.
The career I have chose is Physical Therapy(PT). Physical Therapist do many different things, but their main function is to help impaired or physically disabled people enhance their movement and handle their pain. Physical Therapist are a main source in the rehabilitation, medical care and prevention of people with long lasting illnesses or damage. The reason I chose this career is because I love helping people and enjoy seeing people be motivated and succeed at their task. To help someone gain full strength in their limbs or maybe even learn how to walk again is my lifelong dream. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career
Massage has been practiced through many centuries and has been used for a number of reasons from medical treatments to general relaxation therapies. Lots of styles have been developed throughout the years and therapists have adapted their personalised treatments using routines, methods and mediums to create the effects and feelings that they are looking to achieve for their clients. Massage includes the therapist using mainly their hands, elbows and arms to manipulate the body’s muscle tissues. There are many types of massage however the main one we have looked at as a class is Swedish massage. This form of massage includes five main movement groups. These groups include effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, vibration and friction. Each of these movements can be used in many different ways to create specific effects and benefits for the individual client. Effleurage consists mainly of light, long, sweeping movements allowing the hands to softly run over the surface of the skin. This movement is used for application of mass...
Entering my first year of college I didn’t have any idea of what I wanted to do. I still didn’t choose a major let alone a career. I was stuck in between wanting to make enough money that my family would be taken care of financially and choosing a career that I wouldn’t mind going in to work every day. The one thing that I was certain of was that I wanted to be able to help people in whatever I chose to do. After careful consideration and exploring the options available to me, I have come to the conclusion that I want to have a career in physical therapy. Physical therapy is the treatment of disease, injury or deformity through physical methods rather than through drugs or surgery.
Physical Therapy profession has a very rich history and is an increasingly growing profession. In the profession of Physical Therapy there are many different sub disciplines and techniques that can be used to improve the health of different individuals. Throughout the years these sub disciplines have multiplied and the field of physical therapy has grew immensely.
There are many different things that a massage therapist must do. First off they have to find somewhere to work and get clients, but that’s the obvious. There are also things they have to do after this, other than just massage. In an interview with Stephanie Melroy, who owns and runs The Massage Studio in Holdrege, she said to me, “A lot of high school girls are really interested in massage therapy but most of them don’t realize all the work and education that it requires. The classes that you take aren’t the easiest either. You have to take a lot of anatomy and physiology, know every bone, muscle, and nerve and they work.” You’ll to prepare the client before the massage, which might include: applying heat, alcohol, lubricants, salt, or other rubbing compounds. Of course the massage therapist will massage the client using kneading, rubbing, and/or stroking movements. You also need to know different types of diseases and skin irritations because if they have a certain kind of disease you can’t treat them. But there are also many types of massage or therapy that they might do. This includes Hydrotherapy, Swedish massage, Sports massage, Shiatsu, Trager, Hellerwork, Polarity, Reflexology, Acupressure, Rolfing, and many more. Other than a manual massage they might also use mechanical or electrical machines as well.
There is a difference between a job and career. Anyone can get a job and earn money, but not everyone has a career. A career is an occupation that requires special training. A career is more stable and long term as opposed to a job. I strongly believe that becoming a physical therapist will satisfy me long-term; as a career. I will be stable, and also having fun at work. Many people dread going to work, but I know when I become a physical therapist, I will be looking forward to arriving at work.
They can work in a variety of settings such as nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, physical therapist clinics, sports physical therapist centers, and even schools. It does take a certain type of person to work as a physical therapist. A person interested in this field mus...
