George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946. Just like other presidents, he had his good times and his bad times. He was the forty-third president of The United States. Because of those who had preceded him in The Oval Office, he understood the importance of being the Commander in Chief. In all of the events that happened during his presidency he never gave up on his country (Biography; Gale: Vol 21).
The Bush family moved to Texas when George was only two years old. George Herbert Walker Bush, George’s father, had just graduated from Yale and wanted to attempt a living in the oil business. The family moved to a rough part of Texas called Odessa, and though times were not always easy , it eventually became a multi-million dollar oil company. From then on, the Bush family succeeded in just about everything. Being the oldest child, George W. Bush was expected to do great things. He was a great athlete, a good student, and an occasional troublemaker. When he was in the seventh grade he won class president, but the following year, his father moved the family to Houston, Texas (Biography; Gale: Vol. 21).
Two years later, George was sent to Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. He played varsity baseball, basketball, and junior varsity football. Instead of trying out for varsity football, he became the cheerleading squad’s head captain. Becoming a leader of his sports’ teams helped George Bush understand the importance of working with and communicating well with others (Biography; Gale: Vol. 21).
George’s high school academics were far from being the best. Both his father and his grandfather, Prescott Bush, attended Yale. Despite his grades, his family connections still landed him a spot at Yale. George...
