Emergency room physicians see many incommensurable types of injuries everyday. The six most common injuries occurring in the ER are from trampolines, lawn mowers, playgrounds, swimming pool, bikes, and burns. These kinds of damage are all things that ER physicians could see on a daily basis. From acquiring all this knowledge, I have decided that I want to enter the field of medicine, as an emergency room physician. Granted that emergency room physician jobs are stressful, due to the fact that they are dealing with injured and upset people 24/7. WIthin the medical field there are always risks of personal harm. Due to the risk this occupation holds has intrigued me from the beginning. Also to further gain my knowledge on what emergency room physicians do, I went to various sites on the internet. These sites informed me about the emergency room physician job description, characteristics, salary and everything I need to know about emergency room physicians.
For this job there are some unifying characteristics an ER physician must be capable of. Some of the attributes that fit this occupation are quick thinking, being friendly, having confidence, and having a genuine passion for the field of medicine. Knowing these principles and looking back to the multiple personality survey as well the values survey results, I fit right into the medical field. Personally I possess characteristics of quick thinking, being considerate, and being kind. Along with those values, I genuinely have a drive and love for studying medicine. ER physicians triage people and help a range of injuries. To become a physician you have to take many years of schooling. Physicians have to be friendly and have the skill of controlling other people’s emotion in a positive way. They spend mostly 90% of their time in the ER which can be really stressful, but they have to be able to stay calm and be very prepared for anything that comes into the emergency room. This is a career that I would want to pursue because it fits into my personality and my values. I am very excited to job shadow an emergency room physician.
I have always been fascinated with the medical field ever since I was little, my first choice for electives were always health science and anatomy classes. After my cousin, Deanna, had her first child and receive her first ultrasound, I knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The ultrasound technician had made her feel so comforted and just made the entire experience enjoyable for everyone; I’m eager to be able to start my life with a job that I know I will love. Anytime that I meet someone who is in the field themselves, I always ask questions and listen to what they do throughout the day to get some real insight on what being a technician really entails.
No matter what field I begin in, ER, maternity or intensive care. I will work as diligently and as efficiently as I could. It would not matter whether I had the day or night shift or if I was walking out the door to go home and a patient came in and needed help. Every patient that I work with will know I have the intention of helping them as well as I can. My personality is a “Persuader” which means I am most sociable of all
Another thing that is in the job description is EMT training is available in most states and is offered by the fire, police, and health departments. As an EMT you have to be able to stay calm under intense pressure, but you have to be quick in getting to the victim and giving the right care, and also you have to have the right personality to be an EMT if you are stuck up and have a rude attitude then an EMT in not the job for you.
While doing my observations, at the outpatient and inpatient settings, I confirmed this is a career suited for my personality and abilities, where you get to teach patients how to recover and start from the beginning, and

Ever since I was younger, I wanted to get into the medical field. Both my grandmothers used to work in the hospital and I would always wanted to tag along. Following them to work influenced my decision to work in a hospital. Every time I tag along, I would see many interesting things that would catch my attention and make me curious. There was a lot of materials such as the stethoscope, weighing machine, and etcetera that I would pretend to be a doctor or nurse examining imaginary people. It was absolutely perfect because I always wanted to help people. So this fall of 2014, I will be starting my education on becoming a nurse anesthetist.
I knew I wanted to work with people; I wanted further involvement, I wanted to see the results of my hard work, I wanted to make a difference in others lives. I went back to school to become a Surgical Technologist. As a student, I accepted a job at the hospital I interned at. After being in the operating room all day, I constantly was asking to stay late to finish a case or help with whatever needed to be done. I fell in love right away with this new profession.

An ability to think quickly and care for a wide variety of patients makes them valuable assets at every hospital. It also brings some perks. When sudden illness or acute injury strikes, patients turn to hospital emergency rooms for immediate medical assistance. An ER doctor, or emergency medicine specialist, is a physician who diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries in a hospital emergency room or other urgent care setting. Emergency medicine is a financially rewarding career, and it also comes with the reward of saving lives. ER doctors require intensive training to know how to shoulder their intensive responsibilities.
It is one I know I will love and will be much more than just a job. It gives ordinary people the opportunity to be a proponent for every patient especially those who may fall through the cracks of the health care system. With that being said, I established important goals to remain on this path for success. By the end of my career I hope to be ultimately satisfied with my choices and following the realistic and clear career goals I have put out with myself, I hope to acquire the characteristics needed to become a successful perioperative nurse and become not only a healthcare provider, but an advocate for my patients and to have the education needed to give them the care and dedication each patient

People's lives depend on EMTs and paramedics quick arrivance and reaction to emergencies. Throughout this researched that I investigated I became interested in this field in a way. If I had an option in medical field I would take the option. Knowing that you are helping patients out is an amazing feeling. I would work with infants rather than adults. I would cherish every moment because you would never know if that’s the last time to work with the patient not just because of death but maybe cause they might recover from there sickness.

I know this career will not always be an easy one because you will come across some patients that can be combative, grumpy or scared and being able to learn how to communicate with them will make the process more smoothly. There will come a time when you come across a patient that will pull at your heart, as hard as it is I will have to keep my emotions in control but not so much so that I forget how to be gentle and caring with the patients because you may never know what their stories are.
In order to determine whether or not clinical medicine was the right career for me, I started shadowing Dr. Richard Turner in the ER. Through my experiences with him, I learned that medicine is a problem solving process. As I watched, he would take a patient's history and try to piece together the correct diagnosis by deciding which scenarios were more likely than others. I was attracted by the dynamic nature of each patient's diagnosis and the necessity for an open mind. My hobby of flying has taught me to look at everything in life with a new perspective and to assess the situation from as many angles as possible. Watching Dr. Turner has confirmed my perception of a medical career and the nature of the work involved. Since I love puzzles and problems, the problem solving aspect also increased my desire to become a physician.
As for health and physical requirements, you should be physically able to complete the tasks obligated for the job. Being a pediatrician is a physically demanding job, walking around to check on patients all over the hospital and many more things. Personality wise, pediatricians must be good with kids and have a desire to want to work with them, considering that they are around kids every day. Having patience and understanding is necessary as you will be working with kids, who may be slower and more confused. As reported by Work, good bedside manner is important in patient care because they will be more willing to discuss what they are feeling or what is hurting them. Patients, especially children, are less likely to open up to a stranger. Some aptitudes that are fundamental are communication, intuition, and problem solving (“Aptitudes & Abilities Needed to Be a Pediatrician.”). Communication is important because it is how you let the patient and their parents know about the child’s illness. Although, how you communicate is equally important, through your facial expressions. Intuition is the ability to detect a child’s body language and mannerisms leading to emerge their health issues.
