Growing up, my parents and other influential figures around me modelled the importance of community service through their continual volunteer work and dedication to improving the world around them. Whether it be participation in a well-attended project or persistent contribution to a helpful organization, those aforementioned individuals were formative in guiding me towards a path filled with opportunities for having an impact on my community.
The definition of being a volunteer is a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task. Many people can’t afford help or can’t do anything about a certain situation. Volunteering is important because
As an individual within a greater community, I know that I am just one piece to the whole. Each individual person within a community makes up one part of the entire thing. It is each individual’s actions that make that community what it is. In every community that I am in, I am an active member who cares about each member. I want the best for my community and will do whatever I can to make it a positive atmosphere for everyone. Community is such an important aspect in life, and everyone should be able to have the chance to experience

Founded by the people, a community is made of the people. By minimizing all the drugs, alcohol, and corruptness of family life, we can prosper in a direction that will further our communities wealth, health, services, and outlook on people. It’s not much of what I can do for our community but what us as a people can do for the community.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to partake in volunteer activities through school and outside of school. Through VMS, I worked with organizations like Habitat for Humanity and with homeless in Denver through the Grant Street Reach. Still, it wasn’t until I started tutoring local underprivileged kids within our valley community, that I understood the true value of locally targeted programs.

Being involved in the Charity Club at my school has enabled me to do my share regarding community service. In the Charity Club we organize meetings where we come up with different projects , and then we find ways to collect money and clothes for families in need.Just recently we did this project called MAAT, and the purpose of this project was to help the poor families in Pristina and grow the sense of humanism and volunteerism among the youth. During New Year’s day along side Red Cross we shipped food and clothes for families in the region. It was honestly the best feeling ever, seeing the smiles in their faces when they saw the presents we had for them, was priceless.
A reflection of my volunteering experience can be summarized in two words: Life-changing. It is hard to explain the feelings that occur when you involve yourself in selfless acts for your community, such as volunteering. There is a feeling in your heart that you cannot ignore, maybe it is the happiness you feel or the overflow of emotions in helping others. In other words, it is a feeling in which you want to share with others. Maybe with a friend, maybe a classmate, maybe a family member, or maybe even a stranger. Either way, spreading how life-changing volunteering can be is a great start to making a positive change in your community by simply by involving others.
