In my search of goals, I decided I wanted to become Sales Executive and achieve top Sales Executive status in a Fortune 500 Company.

When you have a passion for something, you can do well. My sales career started with Lens Crafters as a frame stylist. I was recognized as a top seller, which resulted in a promotion to field travel to increase sales in the Northbrook and Vernon Hills locations.

I also took a second job at the Jewelry department for Service Merchandise. Once again, I was recognized as a top seller. Management quickly recognized my efforts and hard work that they encouraged me to become certified in Gemology (selling diamonds) to expand my knowledge and experience. Upon completion of my Gemology certificate, there was a sudden increase of interested customers waiting in line to work with me. Working one on one in a fast pace environment, such as sales fulfills an internal need to promote a product you truly believe in while providing value to your company and your customers.

My goal as sales executive compares to Liberal Arts from the human behavior aspect of cultural sensitivity and diversity. These areas are major concerns in corporations. Abbott is a Global Corporation; the role of Sales Executive could be within any division of Abbott. To be successful I will need to understand cultural differences and how to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Human behavior reaches far beyond cultural differences it includes the “internal working” of each person. Effective listening is just as essential as communicating effectively. My goal is to gain enough knowledge and experience to be giving a chance to sell.

Describe the steps you will take to develop the attributes for success you need.

I expect to have my goal completed in 5 years. I have to be able to work my way to the top. And by doing that, I have to work in other areas to get that experience.
