The Wild
My Family and I were at home eating dinner. After dinner I told my mom that I had left something on top of the mountain, so she said “‘go up to get it Mary. But she didn’t want me to go alone so I went to go see if my friend was home but he wasn’t so I disobeyed my moms rules and went up by myself anyway. And it was starting to get dark so I had to get the base fast but I couldn’t find it. Now it was really dark and 2 hours had already passed and I couldn't my way off the mountain because it was so dark. And with my luck my phone died so I couldn’t call anyone for help, so I just started walking and walking after a little bit I realized I was getting nowhere so again I walked eventually I just fell and went to sleep.
In the morning I woke up and there were trees everywhere and then I realized I must have walked a lot more than I thought I did. So then there I realized I was lost and I had walked extremely far without knowing where I was going. So I realized there was no way I was getting off this mountain so I started gathering sticks and dry leaves to build a fire and then I started gathering branches and leaves to start building a shack under a little ledge that I had found. The second thing I did was find a rock and started banging it against another rock to sharpen it to protect myself from Predators in the night. Since this is northern California there are bears and I feel like I might meet one soon enough. After a little bit I got a tiny fire going using 2 rocks and smashing them together to create sparks.
In the middle of the night I heard a roar and brush being smashed and then all of the sudden I heard a gunshot and whimpering, in fear I hid under the ledge not knowing what was outside of ...
... middle of paper ...
...ck and fell asleep. That night I had a dream, in the dream I was climbing and there were people all around me and people were yelling Cody and they kept on yelling it and then I started shaking and trembling then I realized someone was trying to wake me up. I woke up looking up into a mans face and he asked me if I was lost and I said yes, not really knowing what was going on. So he told me to come back to his camp and he could have something to eat I tried to stand up but my leg was really hurt so the man helped to me my feet and I asked what his name was he said it was, Brian.
When we got back to his camp I looked around and he had 4 tents set up I was guessing one for his wife one for kid and the other for another kid now that I was in a safe place I knew I was ok to sleep without alarm or hunt without the fear of being attacked I was safe and happy.
It's three o'clock in the morning. I've been sleeping since eight p.m., and now my alarm clock is telling me that it's time to wake up. Most people are sleeping at this hour of the night, but I'm just now waking up to pack up my gear and head into the forest for the morning. Last night I packed my .30-06, tree stand, a small cooler full of food and a rucksack full of hunting equipment including deer scent, camouflage paint and a flashlight. I've been planning a hunt for two weeks, and the weekend has finally come. I get up from bed, shake off the cold of the morning and get ready to leave by four.
I thought we were close to getting out but them I climbed up a tree and saw that I was wrong. We need to go north. I saw a little rustic old cabin up that way. And that was the closest point of exit. Which at that point was the best way to go. But up north the forest look even thicker which was not good. There was fruit and meat that would be a good kill so we could eat. So off we went. The only way now to tell days was the sun but even at some points we couldn 't see it.
I rushed out to the truck as the horn blared. I threw my things into the truck and we went off towards the woods. I had to talk to Kevin about where the deer come from when i am sitting in the stand. He told me everything I needed to know about the place less than 10 minutes in the hot and humid truck. Well let's go back to see what led to this.
I’ve done some scary things before and I always had the courage and motivation to do it, but this time, my courage abandoned me and just disappeared as if it was never there. It was a cool and chilly day, but the sun was shining hard at my favorite ski resort in Lake Tahoe in December. Crisp, white snow was delicately falling from the sky and it covered the ground like a blanket. But the luminous sun was melting the snow, making it wet and slippery. The trees on the side were towering but slender with dark, brown trunks and bright green leaves. I was wearing a cumbersome jacket and a helmet and I was starting to sweat a lot in the heat. There were tons of people in thick jackets carrying skis, poles, and snowboards milling around. I was in a lengthy line of people, all waiting to go on a ski lift. The lift led to a monstrously huge hill that I was about to ski on.
I swung my arm aiming for my alarm clock but ended up knocking my nightstand over. " Dang it" I said unhappily as I put my feet on the floor protected by my fuzzy pink socks. I hand a fun and terrifying experience in my sleep a few days ago. I discovered me and my 5 friends could dream walk but only in abandoned places which is creepy because I really strongly dislike the dark and also I really hate spooky paranormal things. It gives me the spokes. I decided I should write in my journal about my dreams because I could feel and remember every little detail of those eerie places from the sound of the water rushing from the flooding to the crickets humming in the overgrown shrubbery.
I awoke in the forest. It was evening, the sun had long set. The smell of the woods surrounded me, almost suffocating me with the musk. I gazed before me as I stood, no lights, no way to see the path. I was lost, the thick trees blocking any light that might guide me. I began to walk slowly, watching each step carefully. The silence pressed against my ears, it was deafening. My eyes began to adjust to the pressing darkness with each step, and I noticed I was in a large clearing. Fear gripped me, how I gotten here or, why, I did not know.
I woke up in the middle of the night with my head throbbing in a place I did not know how I got here then I remembered the last thing I did remember is a bear right next to my and then sirens wailing and people saying
I had gone probably a little bit to far and should had some markings or something to back onto the trail. I had gotten lost I was in the woods for about a day with just me and my gun I didn't eat the whole rest of the day but I had a huge sack full of bision. I had been sitting there about twenty four hours and I heard pounding at the ground so I had to go look because it was my only way out or else I was stranded, it ended up it was some bision but while I was out there it looked a little familiar. It was where I had left and I ran for a total of proably three hours and finally saw the end of our wagon train and didn't loose my group, thank
As I inched my way toward the cliff, my legs were shaking uncontrollably. I could feel the coldness of the rock beneath my feet when my toes curled around the edge in one last futile attempt at survival. My heart was racing like a trapped bird, desperate to escape. Gazing down the sheer drop, I nearly fainted; my entire life flashed before my eyes. I could hear stones breaking free and fiercely tumbling down the hillside, plummeting into the dark abyss of the forbidding black water. The trees began to rapidly close in around me in a suffocating clench, and the piercing screams from my friends did little to ease the pain. The cool breeze felt like needles upon my bare skin, leaving a trail of goose bumps. The threatening mountains surrounding me seemed to grow more sinister with each passing moment, I felt myself fighting for air. The hot summer sun began to blacken while misty clouds loomed overhead. Trembling with anxiety, I shut my eyes, murmuring one last pathetic prayer. I gathered my last breath, hoping it would last a lifetime, took a step back and plun...
The frontier is as boring as a blank piece of paper. Though I have always considered myself brave and daring, I believe this frontier is fiercer than me. Although we are thriving now, the first few months were an absolute disgrace. In the beginning, food was scarce and life was terrifying; I never felt so alone. I have not slept well since we left New Jersey. But, enough from boring, old me; you are probably dying to hear about how my life has turned upside-down!
I almost fell off a cliff on the side of a mountain. I was in Pitkin, Colorado, on a camping trip during the summer of 2009. The trees were green, the air was fresh so were the lakes, rivers, and ponds were stocked with fish and wildlife was everywhere. Usually, on these camping trips, I would be accompanied by a large number of people. However, this time, it was just my parents, my three brothers, and my two sisters. I was almost 12 years old at the time and having three older brothers made me very competitive. Naturally, when my family decided to climb one of the mountain’s which were around us, I wanted to be the first one to reach its peak.
Since I was little I have always known that I did not want a desk job. I have always loved using my hands to build things or to solve problems. But I didn’t like the idea of a construction job, or standing in a plant and watching things go down an assembly line. I wanted something that would keep me on my toes, as in different every day, and allowed me to do something that I could see the result of my work soon after. I just couldn’t find the right job; nothing sounded good to me. That was until one day my dad needed help with some wiring in an extension we were doing to my house. I thought that it was kind of fun. It was cool to me that we could install lights, switches, and outlets. So, from then on I decided that I would like to
Then it happened the street light changed red, yellow, green then we took off 120 miles per hour my eyes started watering and the breeze took my hair. We went down the runway and started for the cart to go straight into the air. In a slight motion I was suddenly looking straight up into the sky. Our cart was vertical, we went up 420 feet it felt like hours we were up there. Then finally we hit the top, it felt like I was the king of the world, I saw everything up here, Lake Erie was surrounding us. But I couldn’t be the king of the world forever. Then we went straight down 420 feet now I was looking straight down at the ground ready to take the slope down to ground level, now we were back on the ground horizontal. The cart moves forward ready for the brakes to hit the wheels, you could hear all the the people’s heads hit the head rests and then comes the sound, that a train makes when it stops. I hear the “wasn’t that cool, did you like it, wahoo's from the other people riding with us.” That was awesome I tell Seth, Seth liked it
Everyone loves a thrill. We watch movies that make us rethink what is in the dark with us, jump off of bridges and cliffs with our only savior being a bungee cord that may or may not be 10 years old, and we create gravity defying, speeding cars without motors and brakes. The crazy thing is, we do it all for fun. I, however, didn’t have a fun time when I went on a roller coaster that went upside down for the first time.
After three hours we arrived at our first break stop. We stopped at a section that was on top of the waterfall. The view was amazing and spectacular because we had never seen anything like this. As we continued our hike after several more break stops, and nine more hours of hiking, we finally arrived at the top of El Capitan. Once we got to the top the view was amazing. We could not imagine how beautiful it was up there on top of the world. After about half an hour we started heading back down, when all of a sudden out of no where I felt someone push me out of the way. A man that was in a hurry to get back down pushed me so hard, that I lost my balance and fell of a twenty foot cliff. At that moment in time I could see flashbacks of my life. After a couple seconds of falling I somehow landed between two rocks which shattered my right foot. After that happen every one that was there tried to get help but unfortunately cell phones do not work in Yosemite, but the man that pushed me over the cliff had a walky-talky and he called for help.
