I have a love for cats. Ever since I was a teenager I always wished for a cat of my own. When I moved in a three story apartment in California, the Manager of the complex said that cats were allowed in the units. I mentioned to my Aunt at the time that I was searching in the newspapers under advertisements for cats wanted. One cool breezy evening, my Aunt called me and said that a friend of her's named Judy had a cat named Katie who did not get along with her other two cats. So I agreed to meet with Judy to see if I'd love to adopt Katie.
As my Aunt and I entered Judy's house which was a fifteen minute drive from where I live, I noticed cut black and white cat long haired cat with a pink nose and mysterious slanted eyes sneaking up on me near the corner of the hallway of the house. Judy shared with me that Katie was spayed, what foods to feed the cat and that she was tramatized. Judy had shared with me that she took Katie to the Shelter to try to find the owners but to no aval. You see, Katie had showed up at Judy's arcadia door so Judy took her in and kept her for several months before deciding to give the cat away.
When I bought Katie to my apartment, she was so frightened. She meowed all night. I called Judy to say that I didn't think I could care for her, but Judy encouraged me to give the cat time to adjust, because she was in a new surrounding. I started feeding my new cat fresh Purina One Special Care dry food and Friskies moist food along with a fresh bowl of water each morning and evening. I also bougth a cat brush to stroke her long luxurious black and white hair, plus I took her to the Vet for an annual booster and rabie shot so I could give the records of the shots to my Manager.
I've discovered so much about cats since I adopted Katie. I decided to change her name to Sugar, because of her white tuxedo. I bought her a condo to sleep on plus a new littler box. I also give her a cat vitamin by chopping the vitamin up an placing the tiny pieces in her bowl.
Leading up to the cat’s death, Morrison gives readers a summary of Geraldine’s life, who only truly loves her cat and nothing else, and her son Junior’s response to his mother’s lack of love by tricking Pecola into coming over and essentially to...
went to visit Kitty and told her that she was going through what all women go
I can also thank Grandma for inspiring a love of animals in my mother and in myself. Grandma always had a cat around her house that she cared for. She loved watching animal shows on television, especially if they involved cats. In fact, she considered herself a cat person, until she met my dog Alex. I say 'my dog,' but he's really my Mom's dog now, and for a lot of the time, when my Mom was traveling on business, it was my Grandma's dog too. We knew that both Grandma and Grandpa really like Alex when they let him sleep on the chest at the foot of their bed - now THAT was a big deal!
One of my best memories is when I adopted my dog Bingo. I adopted him from the Humane Society when he was very small. The Humane Society was helpful in the process, they helped me with all the instructions and paperwork. This experience of helping a little animal was great as the love I receive back from him is overwhelming. This feeling is something I would do again and would recommend anyone who is capable of doing it to try it. They become family and will teach you the feeling of trust. Bingo is one of my babies, he welcomes me every day with a big joy, he depends on me and the same way he gives me his love, I returned it back to him. He has a sister who he plays with and soon I will be looking forward to getting another sister for
Without delay, a kind older woman greeted me and guided me around the shelter. It felt like a bustling bee hive between all the dogs and people moving from place to place. Eventually, we reached the cat room where another one of my preconceived notions would be ripped away. For some peculiar reason, my timid mind assumed that most of the cats living at the shelter would be feral. I
It all started with my very first cat, Butter. We drove for what seemed like hours, but when we finally arrived, there was not one, but two cats at the door! The female cat was named Butter, while the male cat was named Peanut. They would come running together if you called “Peanut Butter!”. I was able to choose which cat I wanted, and I picked out Butter because she was fluffy with brown and black patches covering her white fur. She grew up with me, I declared her to be one year younger then me, with the same birthday. Those would be the wise words of a three year old. Butter tolerated a lot from me, she let me put dress up clothes on her and wheel her around in my dolly stroller. A few years down the road, when I was around 5 years old, we got our dog name Bailey! Butter and Bailey loved to torment each other all the time. Bailey would drag Butter from one end of the house to the other by her tail! By the time I was 9, Butter passed away peacefully. Bailey seemed lost for years without his playmate, but around 6 years later, Bailey passed away too. They were my first pets, and
She owned a lot of animals too so I would get up very early to help her go out and take care of them. We incubated and raised a turkey that grew huge and loved people. When you walked out in her backyard he would run up to you. We actually incubated a lot of geese and ducks. A dog got ahold of one of the chickens we raised. My grandma actually sewed the head back onto the chicken and the chicken lived for a couple more years. My grandma’s sister brought her this possum. She was just a little tiny baby till we started raising her. She was a little over weight when she was old, well maybe really over weight. I’ve grown up in the country with a lot of animals like horses, raccoons, birds, dogs, cats, chickens, goats, turkeys, a skunk and many more. Some of the animals we had found and raised. There was this squirrel that my brothers found on the street that these kids were hurting so they brought it inside. My Mother and I bottle fed her till she got better and old enough to eat on her own. We ended up having her for years till we let her back out in the wild. We had to help my dog have puppies her first time. After she had the puppies we had to bottle feed them for the first week till
A remarkable story emerged in the New England Journal of Medicine in regards to a cat that could "predict" the deaths of patients inside a nursing home several hours before they died. Oscar, a cat adopted with the staff of the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center throughout Providence, R. I., has at the least 25 successful predictions, in which patients died hours following the cat sat down by their own beds. After the nursing home's staff caught on Oscar's ability, they began alerting all the families whenever the cat used his post next to the patient. Most families tolerate or also welcome his presence, though Oscar becomes angry if forced out of the room of a dying individual, meowing outside the door.
When I married my husband I had no idea he was as big of a sap as I was with animals. It wasn't unusual for us to head to the pet store to check out the latest available adoptions, or make our way to the pound. The trouble was, we could never leave empty handed. Turtles, fish, guinea pigs, parakeets-- but mostly cats. I'd
dog owners to become cat lovers very quickly. This is partially due to cats simply being able to adapt to a variety of settings, they can withstand hours alone with no human interactions, they
There are the many differences and similarities between the most popular household pets, dogs and cats. These pets really do make a wonderful addition to the family; but, before you decide on which pet to bring home think about the different attention, grooming care, and bathroom usage for each of these pets, to make sure you are able to provide proper care for your pet. Having a pet is a lot of hard work, but in the long run it’s very
Having a pet is a wonderful idea. Pets bring companionship, personality, and gut wrenching humor to households across the world. Having previously owned both a cat and a dog, and currently being without a pet, I began to think about getting a new furry friend. Born a dog lover, and bred into a cat lover, I had the difficult decision of choosing one of the two.

The light from the sun reflects off the pure white wall, illuminating the room. The dust floats, undisturbed by the empty house. This is what I see as I launch myself out the door, into the hot summer air, into the sounds of playing children.
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me.
