Personal Experience: Going to College

We all have many different routes we want to take after high school. We all get to choose what we want to do with our lives. Some choose to start working, go to college, or even travel. As for me, I chose to go to college. At first I would not even consider going to college. Overtime I was encouraged by my parents and college students. That is when I knew it was something I wanted to do. Although many people think that college is a waste of money, college can help you get a good job, help secure your future, be open to new opportunities, and you can even meet you lifelong friends. Many people don’t want to go to college because it is expensive. They think that it is just a waste of money. They don’t realize that it is more like an investment. A college education costs less than the average of of a new car. A family friend got herself a new car and struggles to pay her bill. With that money she could have gone to college instead and in a few years get herself an even better car. You might spend all that money in school, but when you complete and get a job, you will get it all back and even more. Even if you don’t have the fund, there is always financial aid and scholarships that can help you out. College gives you an opportunity to find a great job and in a career that you love. People with a college degree earn 74% more than people with just a high school diploma. The annual income for a college graduate is almost twice as more than a person with just a high school diploma. My dad always encourages me and says that going to college will help me get a nice stable job and I won’t be struggling with money and bills. People who don’t go to college often don’t know where there life is going or what to even do with it. My sister neve... ... middle of paper ... ...ourage me to keep going. Most people I know try to discourage me. So I would love to meet great people like that who I will be friends with for a long time. I would hate to miss out on that chance. After high school, it is the time when we get to choose where to go with our lives. We can get a job, go to college, take some time off, travel, and much more. For almost all of high school I kept saying that I didn't want to go to college. I tried to find every excuse possible arguing why I shouldn't go. After much debating, I realized that it was good for me and made the decision to go to college. People might have negative opinions on college but it can help me find a great job, have my future figure out, it can help me become more open minded, and let me meet great friends. College doesn't guarantee you a job or success, but it can help you have an outstanding life.
