Visualize a world where there is no longer a need to plug a wire into a device. Imagine having your car charge itself while driving to work everyday. Dream of being able to have your life-saving heart pump power itself automatically. All of these innovative ideas can be possible by the power of inductive charging. Although wireless power has been around for a few decades, it was not until recently that it began to gain ground in today’s world. Whether it is watching your favorite T.V. show, streaming music from a phone, or using Wi-Fi in your home, most electronic devices are optimized and utilize the advantages of wireless technologies.
As time quickly passes by, technology morphs into items we cannot live without. An honorable mention is the use of smartphones. Although they are called “smart”, one thing that most share is a lack of battery life. As of November 30, 2012, the top 20 smartphones with the longest lifespan has an average of 11 hours of battery life (Cell Phone). Although 11 hours seems to be enough to last a full day, it is not depending on what applications a user is utilizing and for how long. By using wireless charging, an individual no longer needs to plug wires into their gadgets anymore. All that is needed is a Qi (pronounced chee) compatible device and an inductive wireless charger (Gahran). Although the charger needs to be plugged into an outlet, a research group known as WiTricity, led by MIT Prof. Marin Soljacic, is working on a true wireless way of powering a device by using magnetic resonance. It is done by transmitting electricity through a batch of conductive coils. By the end of the decade, individuals will be able to charge their devices by walking into a room using WiTricity’s wirel...

In this recent century, there is ease into taking our technology as something for granted. After all, technology has opened up our abilities to instantly connect to the other side of the world, instantly retrieve information from the Internet, and instantly listen to digital content if desired. However, while a cell phone, laptop, and iPod has many differences from one another, all of those three devices share one item in common at the very least and that is a Lithium-Ion Battery.
When the Tesla Model S was first released, Consumer Reports named the Electric Vehicle (EV) the most remarkable auto ever tested. The consumer protection publication; that has been looking out for their readers since 1936; said that the Flagship vehicle from Elon Musk’s Motor Company, was essentially flawless. Its performance on the track and in safety testing was second to none. However, due to a drop in quality class; from average to below; the Tesla Model S has been removed from Consumer Reports’ Recommended List.
In the recent past, Tesla has been noted as a great competitor in the automotive industry. This is attributed to its three huge competitive advantages. Generally, the advantage lies in its ability to bring about innovative disruption in the industry. This include; a strong battery supply chain that is sustainable in itself, a supercharger network celebrated by the customers and a software system several leagues ahead of its competitors (Zach, 2015).
Stenquist explains electric cars might get their energy from coal, wind, nuclear, and solar sources; in addition, these capabilities which improve the environment by reducing the detrimental sources. Stenquist (2012) asserts that electric cars can better reduce the global warming emissions from the gases, which result in a cleaner environment (p. 2). Furthermore, the author interviews several people to
Imagine that you’re driving on an open highway in the middle of summer. All you see in front of you is asphalt for miles and miles. The windows are down and your favorite song comes on the radio. You’re behind the wheel of a Tesla Model S, the newest electric car that can go from zero to sixty miles per hour in 2.4 seconds. This will soon be the future of all motor vehicles. Electric cars are beginning to have colossal impacts on our society because of their energy efficiency, performance benefits, and the fact that they are less harmful to the environment. In the near future, electric cars will dominate the road and eventually the planet’s overall need for oil will decrease immensely.
In this case study I will be discussing advantages and disadvantages of electric cars. Electric cars are cars that are powered by electricity. Electric vehicles are an important part of cutting emissions and reducing global warming. The battery of an electric car stores electrical energy. The electric motor is coupled to the wheels through gears; it converts 59-60% of electrical energy into the wheels. The battery runs the motor which allows the car to move. Electric cars are necessary as they will save money, because electricity is cheaper than gas. Also electric vehicles will help reduce global warming and pollution. However, some people say that electric cars still have environmental costs. The electricity used to recharge EV batteries has to come from somewhere in the world, and now, most electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels. Although electric vehicles are classified as green cars, purists will not appreciate the toxicity of the batteries.
The world of technology is ever changing and advancing. With the automotive industry in play technology is constantly surpassing what is available today with what can be done for tomorrow. Technology and the automotive industry go hand in hand with constant improvement to components of cars. Due to technology advancement there is competition within the car industry, especially between American car companies and European car companies. European car companies provide their buyers with innovative variety and revolutionary luxuries. European car technology is superior to American car technology due to their safety, entertainment, and luxury features.
The Traditional Bluetooth had given us ability and also quickly connect to peripheral devices but Bluetooth Low Energy with the release the type of peripheral devices that connect have spilled over to medical and sports fields in remarkable ways. Then, we are use the smart phone and also tablet devices to connect the internet, stream audio on the car and also even in home entertainment systems. Extend the number of peripheral devices that connect will need for more efficient ways of doing so.
The automotive electronics industry is mainly made up of a group of companies that provide and develop electronics based on four major categories namely, power controls, safety controls, communications and entertainment systems, and body electronics. These electronics address energy saving, environmentally friendly, safety, comfort, communications and entertainment aspects for the automotive market (Deloitte, 2013). For Mobileye’s case, it is currently operating in the safety controls segment (developing and supplying Advanced Driving Assisted System (ADAS)) in the automotive electronics industry, addressing the safety aspect face by the automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and consumers.
The world has gone through a lot of changed as time passes by. With advancements in the technological field people are can communicate with ones from around the world without having to even lift a finger. To make things more efficient and more cost saving industries have made technology wireless. Wireless technology gives people the chance to get up from their stationary computer, or cord phone and able to freely move without restrictions. The IT, or Information Technology has become a standard and very critical part of today’s society. Wireless technology came from the basic just cellular usage to sensors in the medical field. Wires are now a thing of the past in today’s world with forever revitalizing technology.
Tesla has instituted the use of battery packs, screens, and even autonomous driving features that help them stay ahead of the competition and improve on previous technologies. Although battery packs have been used to power other electric vehicles, Tesla’s new developments have been revolutionizing. Katie Fehrenbacher, former writer for the Economist, CNN, the BBC, and the New York Times, writes in her Fortune article, “The not-so-geeky result of that new 100 kilowatt-hour battery pack are cars that can accelerate more quickly and can drive for longer on a single charge. This milestone isn’t just another notch on Tesla’s belt. It shows how as Tesla continues to innovate, it’s leading the auto industry, and it’s far ahead of competitors when it comes to developing electric car battery technology,” (Fehrenbacher). Tesla has improved on its battery chemistry to further the range of their cars, and even increase acceleration. The new battery will be introduced into the Model X, their SUV, and the Model S, their sedan and will keep the electric range of those vehicles much higher than the competition. The other benefit of electric vehicles is the immediate availability of power and torque. Tesla has taken advantage of this physics phenomenon and stored 792 pound feet of torque in their sportiest model, the Tesla Model S P100D. This car was tested by Motor Trend, one of the world’s
example of the uses of electric cars in everyday life. From the article “Electrical Engineering”,
There is no doubt that electric cars are the most appealing from of transportation in the world. They provide two of the most important key points of good transportation: reliable and efficient. They are reliable due to their simplicity of their power trains and the advancement of technology they have. They are efficient because they don't use any gasoline and because their motors can pass the zero-emission standard. Even though they may seem like a boring form of transportation, they offer good features that help keep the Earth's air clean and they help reduce pollution.
