When life gives you lemons, why make lemonade when you can make lemon meringue pie? Here’s hoping life also gives you sugar, short crust pastry and eggs. Lemon meringue pie is a kiwi favourite that has been passed down through generations through great grandparents with their own secret recipes and ingredients. Which is where my Grandma got her famous lemon meringue pie recipe from that she has been making every Sunday since before I was born.
I decided to research this particular item of lemon meringue pie because of my family tradition that every Sunday we would sit down for a roast at Grandma’s and then finish it off with a large helping of lemon meringue pie. Which is why researching the origin of lemon meringue pie intrigues me, as I would like to learn more about this family favourite.
I purchased my lemon meringue pie from Café Eden, which is located in Tauranga. Unlike traditional lemon meringue pie, which is usually the standard 9 inch size, the item I purchased was the size of a small tart. The case for the filling was made out of a short crust pastry and was then filled with a lemon curd. On top were a swirl of meringue, a slice of orange and a delicate sprinkle of icing sugar. I spoke to the chef at Café Eden and asked her about the mini lemon meringue pie and she said: "We used to make our own lemon meringue pies with real lemons and our own, made on premises, sweet pastry; but because of time constraints we now order the mini lemon meringue pies from Barkers" (Café Eden Chef, 2014).
Unfortunately the quality of the product lacked because it was pre-made but the lemon curd had a tasteful balance of sweet and tartness and was not too overpowering. The pre-made meringue on top was not very smooth on the...

Finally, it is time for the baker to bake the peach cobbler. The baker will put their oven safe dish in the preheated oven and close the oven. Then they will set the timer for 40 minutes and wait for the timer to go off. Lastly, the baker will put on their oven mitts and pull out the oven safe dish to check the peach cobbler by sticking a toothpick in the middle to make sure it is done. Now if everything looks good the baker should be done, but if the baker checks it and it doesn’t seem finished leave in a little longer until it reaches the desired look

First look i get from this pie that it is well made. Also made with lots of care. The pie has three layers a top layer that is soft. The second layer is a cherry paste with chances of cherry in the inside of the paste. The bottom layer is a crunchy crust the extends and connects to the the top layer.When I took my first bite into this pie i get a very sharp cherry taste right away. once the cherry taster is gone you get the taste of the top and bottom layer witch have a sweet but not very tasteful taste. As you take more bites into this pie the taste of cherry gets emphasized a lot and the crust and top layer start to fade away. The parts of the pie do not really help the sharp taste of the cherry inside of the pie. After tasting this well constructer pie i give it a 9/10, because it has a great cherry taste yet the other parts of the pie could support the cherry taste and help make it

In the 13th century gingerbread was shaped in different forms by monks from Franconia, Germany. Also in the 13th century Swedish nuns baked gingerbread to ease their indigestion in the year of 1444. Lemon Brown is a really thoughtful fellow, he would do anything to help Greg or any other stranger. He protected Greg when thugs came in to try to steal his treasure, in which we can see on page 736 where it says, “Greg saw him hurl his body at the men who had come to steal his treasure”. I think if I ignore the labour, both of my products are in acceptable price range. If there is a chance to try again I would like try lemon curd and passion fruit cream for filling of the both. I also want to put some fruit as a decoration in my tart.
