IGN Entertainment called it, “Inspirational, Gripping, and Entertaining.” The Movie Guide summarized it as “an entertaining, morality lesson.” Six years later, Coach Carter still captivates the minds of audiences as the frontrunner of underdog movies and joining the top tier of movies. Winning 3 awards and receiving 10 nominations for best director, lead actor, and best female breakthrough performance, was an incredible tale that touched the audience’s emotions and evoked the feeling of the victims and heroes of the story as their kinsfolk.

The award-winning movie has an ability to stimulate the audience through a unique, original message; unpredictable ending; and dramatic change of characters, based on a true, riveting story. Coach Carter belongs at the least to be mentioned with the top movies. The intense plot with the addition to its inner conflicts between the protagonists and antagonists had taken the audience on a roller-coaster ride and adventure of a lifetime. Director Thomas Carter and Samuel Jackson worked together on this 2005 Paramount Productions to fully capture the peaks and valleys of Richmond High School’s special season.

Coach Ken Carter portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, takes a part-time and very low-budget offer to coach at his old high school. While beginning his job, he uncovers that the athletes are disrespectful and disobedient to put it lightly. Coach Carter in an attempt to save these student-athletes’ futures from dealing drugs and incarceration, grabs this job “by the horns” and implements very strict rules. With Coach Carter’s very versatile message, inspiring and unpredictable conclusion, and dramatic change within the attitudes of his players, is what Coach Carter the award-winning and deserving movie it is. Coach Carter should be placed within the ranks of the best movies of last decade. It inspired so many without the need for too many renowned actors, directors, or producers, yet revealing the talent of the younger actors and filming crew to the world.
