Nike, goddess of accomplishments and the child of Pallas, the Titan, is known for accomplishing victories and her being involved in the Titan War. Not only is she the goddess of accomplishment she is also the goddess of triumphs, speed, strength, and military. Many Greeks held victory celebrations, and held Nike in high regard. The Greeks were also very competitive. That meant that she was very popular in the fifth century (Cartwright). Even with her being so popular there are no myths about her. She is an older goddess and was born before the Olympians (Nike: In Greek Myth). Her main symbol is a wreath of victory (Cartwright) (Nike, Goddess of Victory). Victory is a very close word to her Roman name which is Victoria (Nike). Also this goddess looks very different from other gods and goddess.
Many people have seen statues of Nike and know that she has wings. She is also depicted with a palm branch or a wreath. One of her faults is that she is inconsistent on giving out victories. Athena is one of Nike's best friends. Athena is the goddess of wisdom and war. The origin of Nike is said in in the poem “Theogony” by Hesiod (Nike, Goddess of Victory). It is said that she was born, with her siblings, in the Armenian Highland which was in the country of Anatolia. Then she grew up in Nakhchiuan (Goddess Nike). But her family is a different story.
Her family is very large and some of it is on the wrong side and by wrong I mean the Titans' side. Gaia and Chaos are Nike's grandparents. They are both Titans. Gaia is said to be referred to as Mother Earth. On the other hand, Chaos is the Titan god with no direction or orientation. Her mother's name is Styx. She is the daughter of Ocean. ...he Titan War he was defeated by Athena (Pallas). When the war ended, Zeus awarded Nike and her siblings. The gift he gave them was to be undisturbed and Godly till the end of time. Now while she lives that duty in Olympus, she and her siblings do their job by protecting Zeus's throne from any intruders. That is how she got the name of being a hero during the war. That is a very good ending for someone so helpful!
Nike, goddess of accomplishment and child of Pallas the Titan, is known for accomplishing in victories and her being involved in the Titan War. Her main cause in the war was giving victories. She created victories in the Olympics and many other similar events. Also, she gives help during wars we are having with matters of the heart. But one of the important things is that she helps us go through things that happen in our live everyday, the little victories.
