The Negative Effect of Cell Phones on Society

A cell phone is an electronic device used for the mobile telecommunication i.e. mobile telephony, data transmission and text messaging. It is used over a cellular network of specialized base stations. It differs from cordless telephones, which offers telephony service only within a limited range i.e. within a home or an office. As the time passes it offers more and more advance features. A society is a social, economical or industrial infrastructure, made up of collection of individuals. Although the members of the society may be from different ethnic group or from a particular ethnic group yet they live together for their mutual benefit. From the mutual relationship between the members of the society, the effect of anything on individual can affect the whole society. The cell phones have a very bad effect on the society. They can affect every individual in the society to some extent. Excessive use of cell phone can lead to addiction especially in young people. They waste most of their time on text messaging and conversations on the cell phone with their beloved ones. At night when they are supposed to study in their room by their parents, they begin messaging and conversation on their cell phone. They keep on talking till midnight or longer than that. They did not feel the passage of time due which they experience restlessness in the morning. The young people keep on messaging even while studying which caught their attention from their study. Some young people also use internet on their cell phones. They use most of their time by downloading pictures and other videos on their cell phone. Other young people play games on their cell phones which is a very bad habit. It takes too much time of the user without gaining anything. The... ... middle of paper ... ... away after not capable to work properly can badly affect our environment. The cell phones contain bio accumulative metals which become toxic over a period of time. The hazardous substances like cadmium, lead, nickel and mercury are present in cell phones which are capable of causing cancer and other fatal diseases if cell phones are not disposed properly. The use of cell phone is very dangerous for drivers while driving. The drivers are supposed to be alert and concentrated to their ambient surrounding. The use of cell phone catch their attention and make them less alert to their surrounding which can lead to serious destruction. The use of cell phone is more dangerous than the use of alcohol while driving. Because it took half a second longer for a cell phone users to react than a normal person and one third of a second longer than a persons in drunken condition.
