Nature Of Religion

1244 Words3 Pages

Religion is defined into three main parts: 1. beliefs and worship: people's beliefs and opinions concerning the existence, nature, and worship of a deity or deities, and divine involvement in the universe and human life, 2. System: an institutionalized or personal system of beliefs and practices relating to the divine and 3. Personal beliefs or values: a set of strongly-held beliefs, values, and attitudes that somebody lives by. Each human being has their own view on religion and this is seen throughout the findings and is stated in the answer s to the analysis questions.

Were your questions relevant and did they provide you with the information referring to religion and the meaning of life?

The questions used in the questionnaire are:

What do you think the meaning of life is?

What are your feelings towards religion?

How often do you pray/worship?

What do you think of other religions and their views?

What are your beliefs on afterlife/heaven and do they affect your daily life?

These questions provided me with information regarding meaning and purpose in people’s lives. It is clear that all the people surveyed search for meaning and reason for life in their daily lives. It is shown in the way they act; influence others and how they resolve conflict by ways of love and peace. People believe there is an afterlife/heaven and they act accordingly to their views on it.

Classification of responses according to belief systems you have studied. Christianity

The majority of people surveyed follow the Roman Catholic Church except for one who follows the Uniting church. These churches all fall under the umbrella of Christianity but have different beliefs and views of the teachings. It is seen in the results from the surveys that...

While Uniting Church followers are not as obliged to pray as often and attend mass regularly. Many people are accepting of other religions besides those that promote killing and violence but believe in their religion only. All people surveyed believe in and afterlife and heaven they some are not sure what this may be (appendix 3, 7 and 8) while all followers of Roman Catholic and Uniting Church believe in ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself’ and ‘what goes around comes around’ and this will affect your afterlife. They live their lives this way as they see they will be rewarded for living good and for filing lives. Except for appendix 8 who lives in the present and is not concerned with afterlife but what is happening around her.
