Chapter 1: Make the most out of many mentors.
“A wise man one told me “You don’t find mentors; mentors find you,” (Bliwas 17)
As I was in the process of applying to San Diego State University, I found myself confused on what college I wanted to attend; it was until then when I met a great person, my high school counselor. As the days went by I started to enjoy spending time with her and helping her with her work during school hours as well as outside school. I will forever be thankful with my mentor who has thought me to never give up no matter how hard the situation gets.

Chapter 10: Overcome straight line thinking
“Many people think of careers as straight line, a linear progression from one job to the next. They assume that with each job they will gain experience and expertise, preparing them for a better job the next time...” (Bliwas 103) as the book says we as C students should expect the least, but believe in ourselves and that we are capable of becoming successful. In the career that I want to work for competency is very rigid, and maybe becoming a probation officer might take longer that I expect; many obstacles may come along the way and I might have to work doing something else that has nothing to do with what I want to do. I might not even like the career that I choose, and I might have to explore until I find one where I am the most comfortable with until I get to the end of the journey and do what I love the most.
