In life one can achieve anything as long as the endeavor undertaken is approached with determination and perseverance. There have been countless testimonies to that effect and my personal experience is living proof of the veracity of that statement. Stepping up to a higher level of education as described by Bridges, is a very difficult transition to make. Family obligations and work pressure me to remain in an inert state of thinking; I was convinced that too many responsibilities and lack of time would not allow me to accomplish what I must accomplish to advance myself. Today according to Bridges’ Model, I am in the final phase or the “new beginning” (Bais and Hayes, 2011, p.5) because I have mustered the courage to overcome that way of thinking. I am conscious that returning to school, will accompany stress and anxiety. However I am also aware that my decision may encourage others to overcome the fear of returning to school. I can help my peers or leaving behind the “old way of thinking and behaving” (Bais and Hayes, 2011, p.5). The strategies that help me in this transition as describe Spencer and Adam were to find a mentor who can provide support when needed and accept help from family members when in doubt or overwhelmed. My Roles in the Nursing Profession My transition into the nursing profession was a major achievement for I am able to use my acquired skills to contribute to the community. As a bedside nurse and a staff member of a large medical establishment, I had to learn how to deliver care to a population that is very diverse. Extensive use of the word transition in nursing literature signals that it is a significant concept (Ralik, Visentin, Van Loon, 2006). It is essential for nurses to possess knowledge and understanding of transition. The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive examination and explore the definitions and key elements of the concept of transition and show how gaining knowledge of transition can positively impact client care and the nursing profession. Understanding transition will help improve client care by teaching nurses how to assess for, and facilitate transition and develop health promotion initiatives. Ultimately, the goal is to have better outcomes for clients going through transition. Continued research and education benefits the nursing profession because gaining knowledge and a better understanding of transition helps guide the underlying standards that help nurses remain current and consistent in their delivery of care.

Our course, Transition to Professional Nursing, is barely two weeks old and already I am being enlightened and challenged to expand my experience of nursing. I will attempt to explain my personal journey and experience thus far including how and why I got here, my beliefs about nursing and related values, and my visions for the future.
As new nursing graduates begin the process of transition into the nursing practice. There are many challenges and issues which are associated throughout the transition. New graduates may embark their journey through a graduate program or seek employment solo. The transition period may consist of challenges, that students will encounter during their journey. This essay will identify, discuss and critically reflect nursing key challenges that student nurses may face, throughout the process of the transition phase. The nursing key challenges chosen for this essay include professionalism, preparation, personal factors, competency factors, patient- centered care and job satisfaction. These nursing challenges will be thoroughly discussed and supported by current evidenced based research and nursing literature.
I am mostly reflected in William Bridges’ model of transition - ‘Managing Transitions’. This is due to the experiences that I have had in transitioning from the use of manual drug dispensing and recording systems to automated drug dispensing and recording systems. The transition followed a decision by the hospital management to change the manual drug dispensing techniques to the use of McKesson AcuDose-Rx® which is an Automated Medication Cabinet incorporating a number of features to make it a very useful tool in the nursing profession.
There are several nurses that have established themselves successfully in the work I am pursuing. The work mainly involves care management, client teaching and patient advocacy. Care management focuses on ensuring that the care that various health care providers offer is cohesive to meet the patients’ needs. Client teaching deals with enabling patient gain knowledge about the medications and health. Patient advocacy is involved with protecting and advancing patients’ rights.

The transition from high school to college is one of the most impactful experiences to take place in an individual’s life. From high school, a place of rules and regulations, to college, a place of independence and self-awareness, there is a noticeable difference in the atmosphere. In other words, college sets a tone of liberation for the student, not to say that there are no more rules or regulations anymore. A student’s success in college is determined by how much he or she puts into the experience as a whole. This type of success involves a number of skills such as time-management, setting goals, and prioritizing, to name a few. Along with these observations, the transition from high school to college is seen as a transition from childhood to adulthood, literally. As an adult, the real world setting starts to make it’s way into the college atmosphere, where the student is on his or her own and is responsible for his or her own actions. This is, by far, the most beneficial aspect of transitioning from high school to college, the real world experience.
