This Mockumentary “Religulous” made by Bill Maher should be thrown into a woodstove and set on fire. It is complete rubbish, designed to strengthen his ethos as a comedian and make him the man. He made this film with his agnostic point of view, and designed it to reflect the anti-religious character he is. In the interviews you can tell most of them were appointments that he didn’t even have the decency to tell people, who took time out of their busy schedules, what his interview as pertaining to then during interviews treats them like they are beneath him because he is the man. Bill Maher may be uncertain where he is going when he dies because he decided to be unaccepting to any religion, that doesn’t give him the right to question others beliefs in this manipulative, and demeaning way. This film was designed to promote his anti-religiousness and is certainly not convincing enough to cause Christians to throw out their Bibles or Islam’s to burn the Qur’an or destruction of any religion for that matter. Bill Maher fails to persuade religious followers to doubt their religions, he has made a poorly argued film due to his lack of decorum and his pathetic use of informal fallacy. To begin this discussion, Bill Maher is a very manipulative agnostic individual who is determined by any means necessary to convince God-fearing people to have doubt in their religion. He wasn’t always a devoted agnostic he was raised by religious parents, in a dual religion household where the religion was divided one Jewish parent and one Catholic parent as were shown in the interview with his mother and sister. This family scene was placed in the film to gain pathos by manipulating the audiences feelings. Personally, it w... ... middle of paper ... ...ot aware of why Bill wants to join them that’s pretty obvious when he starts asking questions and one guy stands up and exits after stating he didn’t want any part of the interview if it was about refuting the word of his God. It takes more than a manly attitude to take on the world of religion, but a person of strong rhetorical skills could have easily applied Bill Maher’s arguments, correctly and had great success. Bill Maher however has such poor rhetorical skills that he was unable to succeed in achieving his goal of placing doubt into the minds of the religious. Making this a poorly-argued film due to his lack of decorum, makes me wonder if his mockery makes him feel manly now. Works cited Religuous .Dir. Larry Charles. Perf. Bill Maher.2008. DVD.
