The Metamorphosis is a short novel that was published in 1915 even though it was written in 1912. The novel is considered by many people a literary piece of art and Kafka best work. The novel is one of a few pieces of works that were finished by Franz Kafka. He had many pieces of literature published against his wishes after he died. The novel also has had several different things people find different about a normal novel. The first thing that was different was the translation from Middle German to English a lot of things did not translate correctly. Another difference was making the impossible happen when he had Gregor transformed into an insect. The novel has several different themes from: the absurdity of life, disconnect between the mind and body, and alienation. But the biggest thing that people find odd is that many people believe that it is an autobiography about his life. On the flip side of that is several people also do not believe that is the case.
Several people believe that Franz wrote The Metamorphosis as his personal autobiography. Franz Kafka’s life was not the best when he was growing up and dying really early in his life. Franz never had a good relationship with his father who considered Franz a failure and not seeing writing as a real career. In The Metamorphosis the father and Gregor did not have a close relationship and the father kept the son in a tiny room. (Stephens) Franz used an insect as the change for Gregor because that is how his father made him feel. Like an insect cowers in fear of people and Gregor does when the sister comes into clean, Franz’s father made him cower.
