Case Study

Mental Illness has a broad spectrum in the definition of mental illness; any of various psychiatric conditions, usually characterized by impairment of an individual’s normal cognitive, emotional, or behavioral functioning, and caused by physiological or psychosocial factors. Also called mental disease, mental disorder. The broad definition also includes that a mental illness is dependent upon a society’s norm and whether corresponding behaviors go against these norms and whether corresponding behaviors considered ad either deviance or even as a mental illness. Mental illness is a disease in the mind and should be consider and treated as such. In the same manner that a physical illness it treated.

Thus, considering that a physical illness such as diabetes contains common symptoms and is easier at Identifying and treating versus a mental illness because symptoms vary from individual to individual and are usually quite contrasting and could be difficult to identify and treat. (Mental, 2008).

Mental ill is real and it cannot be brushed aside or cured miraculously. Mental illnesses are not caused by personal weakness and therefore cannot be cured by personal strength either, contrary to what many people think. Proper treatment and medications are often needed to treat the illness.

Deinstitutionalization is a long-term trend wherein fewer people reside as patients in mental hospitals and fewer mental health treatments are delivered in public hospitals. This trend is directly due to the process of closing public hospitals and the ensuring transfers of patients to community-based Mental health services in the late twentieth century. ...ing treatment as soon as possible. Follow-ups are necessary to ensure that the treatment is correctly working, and once deemed these individuals can be placed in a full period of care from the evaluation of the patient’s caseworks.
