Mega yachting is a life style that can be used by only very few people. The yachts that people live on are custom designed to fit their individual lifestyle and include many intricacies. Though they boats may very in exterior design and size they all contain relatively the same main components that drive and power the vessel although those can very as well. (Thesis) Mega yachts are constructed in many places and though they are capable of serving themselves they are also in need of exterior vehicles to help them carry the passengers directly to shore and partake in water sport activities. The boats that are carried by mega yachts and super yachts are called tenders by most of the yachting community. These vessels can vary in size from being very short boats of only 17 feet in length to the more typical vessel of a length of around 30 feet. The tenders are launched by a davit, of which an example can be seen on nearly all cruise liners. The tenders may also be launched by an over head crane that is mounted to the super structure of the main vessel and capable of lifting the weight of an entire 10,000 pound boat. Also contained in the main vessel may be other water craft vehicles to the effect of competition PWC’s and double person PWC’s that most people in the …show more content…
Mega yachts tend to be multiple stories tall and because of this they need ways to transport gusts and owners up and down. Some mega yachts have typical stairways but may have the hand rails encrusted in gold or silver leaf and then have an elevator close. Designers choose to give their vessel a spiral staircase to save space. And yet some others use a spiral staircase with a glass elevator in the middle of the stairs. This makes for a neat effect and can be somewhat humorous to children as they chase the elevator up the stairs. One drawback to having a glass elevator surrounding is that the mechanics of the elevator are
The Early Modern Era saw great change in the field of naval technology. Exploration and the desire to expand trade fueled the development of new, more effective naval vessels. These vessels, in turn, contributed to the growth of worldwide trade and interconnection that marked the period.
Personal Watercrafts or "jet skis" are basically Personal Watercraft (PWC) are basically small inboard boats able to travel at high speeds due to large amounts of power and very light weight. Alomst all PWC's are under 600 lbs and most of todays PWC's have at least 90 hp.Not only are PWC's some of the fastest water vehicles they are also some of the most maneuverable water vehicles. This is because PWC's propultion is based on a jet that also is it's turning mechanism. When the driver turns the handlebars the jet (via cables) turns in the direction of the handlebars so the stern is pushed in the opposite direction. This allows the driver to turn at a much tighter angle than traditional boats with keels and rudders. The main drawback to this maneuverability is the fact that if there is no thrust coming from the engine the ability to turn is effictively zero meaning that anytime the driver presses the kill switch (a large red button) they lose all ability to steer. This is extremely dangerous whenever an inexperienced person may drive the PWC back to dock or into shore. PWC's have no brakes and have no ablilty to stop other than turning around. They have an extremely efficient ability to hydroplane (when most of the PWC is above water) and it takes most PWC's a few hundred feet to come to a stop after being at full throttle. This is because 600 lbs + a rider is traveling at a very high speed with only minimal friction to slow them down (since PWC's are made to travel with very little friction).

The keel for the Lusitania was laid in May 1905 to be one of the biggest commercial ocean liners post the RMS Titanic hull. “John Brown and Co Ltd of Glasgow was the winning builders to build this ship. Post the building of the ship, over a 1 year period. She was launched on June 7th, 1906”. (“RMS Lusitania”) Her attraction was the fact that she had seven full decks for passengers compared to the normal four to five that most of the ships carried or housed at that time. The upper class passengers enjoyed their berthing like they always had with all the comforts of home. But now instead of the poor class having to sleep in open air berthing that had no privacy, they actually were able to sleep in 4 or six person to a berthing space or room.

A second strategy that has been rejected is one concerned with the consumer awareness of SGC. Currently, SGC is only advertising to travel agencies. Coupled with segmentation, SGC’s current advertising strategy has hurt SGC in the sense that consumer awareness is considerably low. Only a small portion of the population even knows that Sea Goddess exists. SGC is only targeting those who travel frequently. They may want to target the portion of the population that wants to travel, but is unsure of where to go or what to do. In order for SGC to reach the consumer, new efforts must be made in the advertising plan. Mere travel agency recommendations are not going to be enough to keep SGC alive in the marketplace. Other vehicles are going to be necessary to spread SGC’s message about the luxuries and benefits of this extraordinary cruise. At the present time, only a small number of all travel agencies have the sufficient knowledge that it takes to make an informative sell to the consumer. It may be profitable for SGC to employ some hi...

Loading and unloading of bulkers is a time consuming and dangerous task. The vessel's captain plans the process, usually with the assistance of the chief mate. The international regulations require that the captain and the terminal master agree on a detailed plan of loading or unloading before the operations begin. Deck officers and stevedores oversee the operations. Still, from time to time, a vessel will be incorrectly loaded and capsize or break in half at the pier.
There are 25 major specialties in engineering that are recognized by professional societies. In any one of those 25 specialties, the goal of the engineer is the same. The goal is to be able to come up with a cost effective design that aids people in the tasks they face each day. Whether it be the coffee machine in the morning or the roads and highways we travel, or even the cars we travel in, it was all an idea that started with an engineer. Someone engineered each idea to make it the best solution to a problem. Even though engineer’s goals are similar, there are many different things that engineers do within their selected field of engineering. This paper will focus on the architectural field of engineering.
The maritime industry consists of enterprises who supply innovative products and services related to the traditional maritime sector. The industry consists of businesses that are engaged in the provision of: designing, constructing and manufacturing supplying of vessels by shipbuilders, acquiring, maintaining of vessels and managing and operating of shipping lines, and customs brokage services, shipyards, dry docks, marine railways, marine repair shops, shipping and freight forwarding services and other similar businesses (Emerging industries, 2013).
