Medical Use of Marijuana

Since the legalization of marijuana for medical use, eight out of ten states caused a decreased in teenage cannabis use. Currently in the nation there are several states that allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes. Government officials have different belief on medical marijuana. According to Judge Young, “Marijuana has been accepted as capable of relieving the distress of great numbers of very ill people” (“Top Ten”). The governmental figure sees potential with the use of medical cannabis. According to Walters, “Smoked marijuana damages the brain, heart, lungs, and immune system” (“Top Ten”). Walters is suggesting that this study is only going to do harm. Though there are many people who agree and disagree with cannabis use for medical purposes there are pros and cons to the facts of these beliefs.
First medical marijuana can help ease pains from diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. According to a BBC News article, “It is not going to cure the disease, but it will do a lot to alleviate the pain and suffering of people with rheumatoid arthritis” (“Cannabis Drug”). Allowing marijuana to take the place of the other drugs is a great direction. Marijuana is grown in the ground not created by scientist to help ease pain. According to the same BBC news article, “Cannabis is probably less harmful than other available painkillers” (“Cannabis Drug”). The use of a natural plant to help people in pain keeps humans clean from other chemicals that are harming their insides worse.
Second consuming medical cannabis can help with nausea due to chemotherapy. Statistics show “anticipatory nausea appears to occur in approximately 29% of patients that chemotherapy” (“Anticipatory Nausea”). Certain studies show that the medication given to ea...
