The ages thirteen through nineteen have been influenced by many things through the media. TV programs, movies, advertising, magazines, and the web. These medias are more used by teenagers than any other group. Teenagers are very difficult to figure out what they watch, or read, or listen. It’s different, but all together it’s mostly the same.
The TV programs have a lot of stereotypes towards teenagers. Girls think they can’t do things that guys do. There are programs out there that show those types of stereotypes and these stereotypes get into their head which makes them realize there’s no way for them to do it. The contradicted stereotypes are that there are some girls out there in this world that CAN do what any guy can do. What I think is that anyone can do anything, just because the media shows that you can’t do it, it really doesn’t mean you can’t. You just have to believe in yourself you can do it. That’s what I feel, ANYONE can do it.

Whatever is “cool” in a movie, any teen would want it or would want to do it to be cool and to fit in. There are many stereotypes in movies that teens would do. There’s a party and there are teens in the party. Making out, doing drugs, and drinking occurs. Of course teens think that’s “cool”, so they throw a party and that type of stuff happens. The reinforced stereotypes are that someone throws a party but doesn’t have and drugs or alcohol and the people they invite are mature, but someone invites their friend and that friend brought drugs and alcohol. Then that party starts to become like the party in the movies. Teens want to have,...

... or what’s in the picture with you. The stereotype is that you can be judged of how you look in a specific photo. The contradiction of the stereotype is that person can be wrong. There can be other pictures of yourself different from that specific one. Now that they’ve seen different photos of you, they’ll see who you really are. Most of the time, teens are posting pictures of what they do online. And it makes them look “cool”, then you’ll see the photo and say that you want to be cool too and you’ll do the same thing that’s done in that photo. Media gets around pretty quick with teens, but sometimes that media isn’t appropriate for them.
Teens are influenced in many different ways. I picked this group of people because I wanted to know, myself, about the different types of media that we watch or read. Some of us see it in a different perspective than others.
