Violence has been a contributing negative factor to society throughout history. Many
researchers believe that the use of violent media, particularly video games, play a huge role in
the downward trend of behavior and attitude of youth, and that this behavior continues to
spiral out of control. However, other researchers believe that since violence has been occurring
since the beginning of time, that adolescence are as capable today of violence, as they were
a thousand years ago. Research has been found to link violent maladaptive behavior to the
use of video games, but other researchers believe that the outcome is inconsistent to the findings,
since the results are often skewed. Meta-analysis have statistically proven that violent video
games have a negative effect on the behavioral outcome of youth, but due to the combining
of meta-analysis, results tend to be distorted and the findings communicate a more vigorous
outcome. Television, computers and movies are another source of media violence available to
adolescence. They can be just as harmful if not more damaging than video games, especially if
the user already has a tendency to be violent and/or is raised in an atmosphere that is conducive
to violence and other risk factors are present as well. Violence will continue to be a prominent
part of our society. Nevertheless with newer and enhanced technology, we may eventually
develop advanced research which may prove beyond reason the culprit of our tendencies for
violence and the real motivations for violent behavior.

...mes, can all be the catalyst for youth
violence, but little research has proven it to be the only cause. Violence has always been a part of
our history. With the increased technology that we now have, we are now seeing and hearing
more violence than ever before, but it has always been there. Meta-analysis has left research
results skewed, due to the fact that research is combined and the comparisons can be irrelevant to
the research, the “studies of studies”. Youth whom are already at risk for crime have a better
chance of acting out from the violence they have witnessed in the media, than children who are
well grounded. Violence will always be a part of society. Nevertheless with increased technology
and better research, we may be able to more accurately pinpoint its origin and guide our youth in
a different, more positive direction.
According to ABC, 97% of adolescents play games and the majority of them are violent. With all the sexual violence games out there-modern warfare-, they are affecting young children's minds. Which leads to future complications in their adult life. For example, they can have an anger problem or they gain a fascination to guns and that leads to school shooting because of the anger issue.

One argument is that people are simply becoming more civilized and violence and crime are just not acceptable and this is beginning to show up in crime statistics (Shurkin, 2013).
Researchers, however, have found that gaming may not be completely bad for adolescents. A recent study by Paul J.C. Adachi and Teena Willoughby points out that video gaming may satisfy the same criteria for positive youth development as traditional organized activities such as sports, music or clubs. In direct contrast to this analogy, they demonstrate that there may be significant social benefits of gaming, that adolescents are motivated to play video games and that this type of play requires concentration and mental effort (Adachi and

In 1989 the results of a five year study by the American Psychological Association indicated that the average child has witnessed 8,000 murders and 100,000 other acts of violence on television by the time he or she has completed sixth grade. In further studies it was determined that by the time that same child graduates from high school he or she will have spent 22,000 hours w...
By far the largest concern of technology today is video games. There have been so many experiments and studies to try and figure out if video games have a negative or positive effect on our children. A growing body of research is linking violent video game play to aggressive cognitive, attitudes and behaviors (D.A. Gentile, 2004). Video games can obviously be dangerous for our children causing aggression, bad performances in school and obesity. Although we cant blame all of these problems on the use of video game...

A review in 2004 did not show a clear relation between video game violence and real life violence. The study found that for every 1% increase in violent video game sales there was a .03% decrease in real life violence. (Fournis,

Society has suffered from various factors that are contributors of school violence. These factors are personal, family, school, and environmental.
The experiments show that after playing violent games, teenagers become to the aggressive way. These experiments were proven by researches of different universities of USA.
Nowadays, video games are frequently accused of having detrimental effects on children and adolescents. The main arguments against video games are that they lead to addiction, that they provoke violence, and that they impair social development. Whether or not such claims are true has not been determined with certainty as scientific studies have produced contradictory results. Nevertheless, video games also have beneficial effects, which tend to be underrated, as they do not receive the same level of media coverage that adverse ones do, and are thus unknown to the general public. Some of the positive effects of playing video games on mental development include: stimulating analytical thinking, improving concentration, and encouraging planning and anticipation (“Video game controversies”).
Video games have both good and effects, but bad effects were greater. Limiting the time of playing video games and choosing the right type are the solutions of the elimination of bad effects on children. Thus, moderation between playing video games and playing sports or doing extracellular activities will benefit the child. Another important point would be avoiding violent video games because they influence children’s behavior in an aggressive way.
