Most people go through life and always hear about the word respect, but they don’t know what it means. Respect is the esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person. There are things in life you need to hold in respect. Respect for yourself, respect for others, and respect for property. Respect is taught to people everywhere and it is even taught to them in their religions. Respect is the very aspect that keeps everything in your life. Respect for yourself is very important to a person because it can be the balancing factor of your life. If a person has no respect for themselves the will most likely go into depression. Respecting yourself is also important for your self-esteem. Having a high self-esteem means that people might laugh at you, make fun of you, and yet you don’t get angry or upset because you know you are better than what they say you are. You must be able to hold your head high and be proud of what you do. Respecting yourself also means taking care of your body. It can be the simple things such as brushing your teeth, washing your hands, and exercising. There are many other factors that might fall into the respecting yourself category, but respecting others is important as well. Respecting others is also another important aspect of your life because if you respect others they will respect you and more than likely you will become friends. Respect is obeying in class and not being rowdy in the hallway. It is the respect of their ideas and what they stand for. Respect is what brings people together, and if it is not used, it is what can tear people and families apart. Respecting your parents is very important in your life, respecting your parents can be doing something they tell you, like washing the ... ... middle of paper ... ...t it also means taking care of your environment, Such as not leaving trash on the grass at the park, and that water bottle in the pond. It is not tearing down holiday decorations. It is avoiding animals on the road or stopping to let ducks cross the road. That is respect. In conclusion respect is wrapped around our day to day lives. A famous philosopher once said “Respect is showing acknowledgement for some ones superiority in a certain field.” You can’t buy, demand, or force people to respect you but you can respect others in order for them to respect you. What people do not understand is that if we use common sense we would be respecting ourselves, respecting others, and respecting property all the time. Respecting yourself, others, and property might not be easy to do but it does have great rewards if you just do it.
Throughout my life, I have met countless role models (supervisors, co-workers, teachers, coaches, my parents) who push me harder and harder every single day so that I will succeed beyond belief in the changing world of today. Respect is also holding you up to an expectation that gets tougher and tougher because I am pushing myself harder. I will always have respect for all today, tomorrow, and the future
When I think of what respect means to me, my definition is: listening and being mindful of what someone is saying or doing. The dictionary on Google has respect listed as: “admire (someone or something) deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements” (Google). I have never associated with respect with admiring someone’s abilities, qualities, yet along their achievements. The two different mothers in the stories view respect differently as well.
Proper respect for others begins by a person respecting their self. Respect is developed by expressing honor, leadership, value, and trust in a person. If everyone respects everyone someday, the world will become a seventh heaven. It is important to be respectful for safety, to abide by the law, because children are influenced by their elders’ actions, and because God says so. Motivation from peers can help a person realize there is always room to improve the level of respect a person exhibits. Respect was, is, and always will be a positive attribute for everyone to strive for in their lives.
Respect shows that one values another as an individual. It should be applied whether you are in the classroom, the playing field or at home. Respect is vital quality that I would habitually present as member of the Suzanne Cory High School Community.
Respect, the qualities, or achievements, somebody admires about a person. Someone with a tremendous amount of respect is known to have power. A person with an excessive amount of money is known to
Respect to me is admiring someone for their abilities, qualities, or achievements. I think respect is always earned an can never be given. As soldiers soldiers we should always respect our peers because they have made the same sacrifice as us. But as soldiers we should have a higher level of respect for our NCOs because they have done their time an have earned it. Being respectful is not hard it is simple, just treat others the way we would like to be treated ourselves.
Respect is a positive feeling shown towards someone or something considered important, or held in high esteem or regard as it conveys a sense of admiration for good or valuable qualities. This debatable concept of whether respect must be earned or not is explored in “The Fight” by Richard Wright and in “The Confrontation” by Raymond Barrio. Even though some support exists for the struggle for respect being freely given, more evidence supports respect being earned by oneself because it gets one point across and respect cannot be given unless it is earned.
Respect is when you admire (someone or something) deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements. The word respect was used in the 1540’s, from middle French word respecter “look back at, regard, consider” and also directly from Latin word respectere (Douglas). The Latin version of respect (respectere) was literally an act of looking back or often at, and observing someone (Douglas). In the 1550’s the meaning changed to treating people with obedient regard or appreciation. To this day the meaning has not changed.

Social interaction is extremely important to the human experience. One of the pillars of social interaction is respect. We are all well aware that respect is necessary for society to function, yet it is extremely difficult to determine exactly why we need it and what it requires. The definition of respect can be complex and difficult to determine. A widely held definition of respect is treating others as you would treat yourself, which creates a preferable societal atmosphere of mutual understanding and equality. Three ethical theories, Utilitarianism, Natural Law Theory, and Kantian Ethics, all aim to define respect and look at it in different ways. Through an analysis of Utilitarianism, Natural Law Theory, and Kantian Ethics, I believe
Respect is when you have a deep feeling towards someone or something elicited by their abilities. People who have this type of person is always strong willed and gains liking from mostly everyone around them. People can gain the respect of people with integrity by doing the same things they do. Things like not stealing, getting your job done, waiting for breaks to do personal stuff, and things like that.respect are always nice and outgoing.
HONOR CAN BE DEFINED IN SO MANY WAYS CAN mean respect and esteem shown to another. HONOR may ALSO apply to the recognition of one's right to great respect or to any expression of such recognition IN SOME SITUATIONS IT implies profound respect mingled with love, devotion. There is a priceless respect that everyone in the world possesses, and that is the. respect of a person?s honor. A person?s honor is something that can not be bought, sold,. or traded it?s something that must be gained by the respect of your peers. An example of. how honor is seen in everyday life in through a persons word. The standard dictionary definition of honor first lists public regard and esteem under the word, with ethical conduct or high standards of justice and responsibility appearing much further down the list. This is reflected in the way the modern world treats the issue of honor. In ancient times, honor was the manner of being that we now describe as having integrity. In plain language, an honorable person avoids deception whenever possible, treats others with respect and sticks to her beliefs no matter how others think or act. People generally do not seem to behave very well toward each other any more.Honor determines the hierarchy of an individual while revealing his loyalty and true intentions. Reward comes for those at the top whose honor does not diminish, while a false or fleeting honor of a lesser mortal causes destruction. Exploring and discussing how to act honorably toward each other is a place to start. The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be what we pretend to be. How can you be a person of integrity? First, figure out what integrity (honor) is. My mother used to say to treat others the way you wanted to be treated. Does anyone do that these days? Well, I know that I don't want to be cut off in traffic, or yelled at, or bumped into rudely at the grocery store, or left picking up garbage all over my yard from the street. So I could try not to do those things to other people. I won't cut off others in traffic, or yell, or act rude at the grocery store, or throw garbage in the street. That's just a place to start. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Respect is a very powerful word it can be given and also taken. So many people really don’t know the definition because they don’t have any for their self. Maybe because they were never taught the word or the meaning. There are rules and meanings to the word Respect.
My final point being, not only does respect reflect on your image; it can also influence others in positive ways such as when Flore fixed the clothes for Bernice, Bernice respected Flore. I personally think that when there is respect between two individuals they listen to each other and help each other out, this provides a positive flow in the society. As I said before without respect there would be no humanity, and this world be chaos place. I ask every individual today to try to be respectful and see what he or she can achieve, while being respectful. When you start respecting people you will have more friends, and everyone would love and care for you. Respect also doesn’t come from one individual it has to come from both individuals, so be the bigger person and respect that individual first.
