Married with Children
The television series Married…with Children started in late 1987 and had a schedule for thirteen shows. It came about from the minds of two directors named Amanda Bearse and Gerry Cohen. Their goal was to bring up a comedy series different than others in the recent past. The series was taped in Sony Studios and had brought up many controversial issues. For example, the third season of the show is the time when the show got increase fame. A woman by the name of Terry Rakolta, who lived in Michigan, had wrote to the studio that the show was out of line for public television and that it should indefinitely be taken off the air. As anyone can guess, this was the turning point of a slow improving show. The show drew attention from many aspects of life. Critics wrote in newspapers and the public spoke outloud. Finally, this was, with out question, the best thing that could have happened to the show. The ratings increased considerably and a comedy sitcom was born. Before all this happened, the two directors had auditions where they selected the following characters: Ed O’Neill as Al Bundy, Katey Sagal as Peggy Bundy, Amanda Bearse as Marcy Darcy, David Garrison as Steve Rhodes, Christina Applegate as Kelly Bundy, David Fastino as Bud Bundy, and Ted McGinley as Jefferson Darcy. There were a few other characters that were also involved that made the show more productive.
The location of the setting is located at the Sony Studios. Its described as a normal looking house. For example on the set there is a couch in front of a television and a kitchen where not too much cooking goes on. The house is located on 9764 Jeopardy Lane and is where most of the show takes place. There are still other places where the show takes place. For example there is the shoestore where Al works and the garage where the NO’MAAM meetings take place. Also Al and Peg’s room is also featured to show how much the two are not intimate with eachother.
In all sitcoms there is a basic unifying situation. This is a common theme that can be expected to be said or done. This can be seen on this show as follows: The Bundy’s are a stereotypical American family. Al Bundy is a shoe salesman who continually works on reliving his high school football fame and fortune. Peggy, a ditsy red head brings fear into Al’s eyes whenever she feels intimate with him or ...

...ldren, the executives weren’t pleased. Leavitt said that one thing the executives said was, “ make these people obviously love each other. Show that they care more about their children.” Leavitt the replied by saying, “You know, you’re the reason why television sucks.” After that the show went on to be a hit anyway.
There was also a published article in the Los Angeles Times, which stated about the end of the shows 11-year run. The article states that the reason they canceled the series was because ratings dropped relative to the increased production costs. With Al Bundy receiving over five hundred thousand dollars a show and the rest of the casts salaries going sky high, Fox couldn’t afford the fees.

The word sitcom is short for Situation Comedy. A good sitcom story idea places the star (or supporting character) into a situation in need of a resolution, which will cause the character to respond in unexpected, exaggerated, and hugely sidesplitting ways (Rannow, pg. 13). A comedy now days are different from how they were in the 1960's and 1970's though. Today directors use sexual content and foul language to make people laugh and do not usually have a purpose or point to get across to the audience with each show. In earlier comedy, such as The Brady Bunch, Director Jack Arnold tried have a lesson learned in each episode while still maintaining a sense of humor, minus the foul language and sexual content. Although the show is not extremely funny to most people it is still a classic show that deserves to be remembered.
“Everybody Loves Raymond” is a television show that only few people today can actually say they had not seen this sitcom. It was one of the highest rated show during it run on CBS television network but has anyone ever noticed how much of a gender stereotype bonanza this show was? Most sitcoms follow the same pattern with the primary goal to make us laugh that, we tend to ignore the obvious and just assume this was the expected behavior for men, women even children in our society. I watched the first two episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond, the show was about a stay at home mother Debra and her husband Raymond who goes to work, while her in-laws who lives across the street are always barging in to her home without a thought about what
Obesity can be caused by a combination of fast food and the environment people live in today. Fast food contains foods that are high in fats, sugars, and starches. These ingredients have rarely any nutritional value to the human body. Most of the foods available at fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King, and KFC contain concentrated salt and preservatives to enhance the flavor in them. Obesity has become the defining aspect of our nation by surrounding the people with fast food products. The freedom to choose what one wants, gives the fast food companies the right to give one unhealthy food. The consumption of fast food products regularly greatly increases one’s chance of having health disparities such as Coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancers, stroke, Hypertension, and Osteoarthritis. These negative effects are present with the daily eating of fast foods.
For a large part of the history of TV sitcoms women have been portrayed as mothers or as having to fulfill the woman's role in the private sphere. Family based sitcoms were one of the forms of sitcom that keep women in these roles, but what is interesting is that even in other forms of sitcoms women do not truly escape these roles. Sitcoms, like Sex and the City and Murphy Brown showcase women whom have seemingly escaped these roles, by showing liberated women, but that does not mean that both do not fall into the gender role showcased in family sitcoms. It draws the similarities between ensemble sitcoms and family sitcoms when it comes down to the role of women. The starring women in both Sex and the City and Murphy Brown, and even the Mary
Now, some will argue that it is not the fast food chain’s problem, that it is the customers’ problem for buying their food. But here is why they are wrong. Fast food restaurants have not made any positive changes, at least healthier ones and many people depend on something quick to go back to what they were doing, but they do not have the choice of getting something healthy because fast food restaurants do not have any healthy options. This makes the public think twice and actually end up picking something unhealthy because they do not have any other options to choose from. Moreover, fast food has also been proven to lead to heart diseases. This is due to the high cholesterol that fast food contains in their meals. By consuming a lot of cholesterol, plaque will start to build up in the walls of the arteries, which can narrow the blood flow in the coronary arteries and cause a heart attack if blood supply is completely cut off. Secondly, fast food is also the leading cause of obesity, which has become a natural problem in the fast food era. The reason why fast food leads to obesity is because their meals are high on fat and carbohydrates which add on a lot of calories. Obesity has also been linked to leading to other health problems like heart disease, diabetes, problems breathing and other serious health problems. Furthermore, fast food chains are also a critical problem because they are causing other serious health problems by adding other ingredients and additives to their food. Fast food chains are known for adding extra ingredients like sodium or an additive like trans-fat to make their food taste better. By increasing sodium intake, the individual could experience high blood pressure (hypertension), which can lead to heart attack, stroke and other health threatening diseases. On
Willa Paskin quickly makes it apparent that she doesn’t see the show as funny. Paskin puts it very well, “It could not be more current, except for one thing – and this is some weapon’s grade sitcom sacrilege – it’s not that funny” (Paskin). She goes on to explain how Mary Tyler Moore and her character Mary Richards is a kind of woman that you rarely see on sitcoms anymore. Women and men in today’s sitcoms rely more and more on over exaggerated and profound flaws (Paskin).
For television viewers of the fifties, Lucy and Ricky could have been familiar neighbors from down the street. People could relate to this young couple, the Ricardos, who were experiencing the trials and tribulations of marriage as typical Americans were. They lived in a modest brownstone in Manhattan with common worries such as paying the rent and affording new household commodities. The humor came when ordinary situations were exaggerated as Lucy managed to get herself into trouble time and time again, and proceeded to untangle herself from the mess. Ricky, her husband, would often discover -- and thwart -- her numerous schemes, and the best friends, Fred and Ethel Mertz, somehow managed to get involved as well. The zany redhead and the thick-accented Cuban were an oddly-matched pair, not only as a comedy team but as a married couple too. The combination of these factors yielded a television show that portrayed situations that average Americans could identify with.
That 70’s show is about Eric Forman and his teenage friends and also is family members that live in Point Place Wisconsin through the time period of 1976-1979. The biggest surprise about the series is that despite it being only a three year time frame it managed to run for eight seasons that was seen on Fox from 1998 to 2006 which became the networks second longest running live action sitcom only trailing the show married with children. Despite the fact that the show wasn’t really based in the 70’s the production of the show did a good job to make it seem like they lived in the 70’s with cars, music etc… It’s kind of weird that the show was named “that 70’s show” when it didn’t officially take place during the 70’s.
The United Nations (UN) was established at the end of World War II, in order to promote co-operation between nations. The UN replaced the failed and ineffective League of Nations; its goal was to prevent future conflicts. In the beginning, the Cold War was the main international topic so the United Nations spent most of its attention on preventing the United States and the Soviet Union from entering into a major war. In the after math of the Cold War many countries gained their independence, as states in Africa were being decolonized there was hostility between ethnic populations. The UN has been involved in sixty peace operation throughout the world since its inception. Two of the peace missions were launched in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The United Nations Organization in the Congo (ONUC) during the Cold War, and the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) in the early 2000’s with it currently still ongoing.
Many people all around the world and especially in the United States are paying money to poison their own bodies. Fast food is a major problem in the United States. Many people are attracted to fast food restaurants because of their low prices, but fast food is the cause of many health issues and is the main reason for the growing population of obese individuals in America. Although fast food can be a good option for a quick and cheap meal, fast food is very bad for the human body because it is full of questionable ingredients and can cause obesity, heart disease and raise cholesterol.
The touch infrared probes have flexible protocol facilities that are said to allow easy interface in retrofit applications. A microswitch in taper shank activates the probe in applications that do not permit infrared activation. The shank switch activates the probe when it is inserted inside the spindle. Once removed after action it will automatically switch off to save battery life. It can be operated for 800 continuous hours with lithium or alkaline batteries and is rechargeable. The transmission range is 7-m and optical triggering for reliability, blower jets are used to clean the measuring point with coolant or compressed air.
Whether it’s the allure of the toys included in the meal or the quickness that the food is available, fast food seems like an easy choice. Since the food contains unhealthy amounts of things like sodium and fat, it’s no wonder people blame these restaurants for the obesity problems. Also, fast food restaurants make their profit from deals and promotions. The amount of advertisement focused on fast food is another reason it’s so popular. While the items at fast food restaurants contribute to our country’s obesity, that isn’t the only
Eating to much fast food is considered to be a leading cause of obesity. Justice would never be achieved by having UN peacekeeping. Having to choose a side to support against another side, and this is exactly opposite of the word justice. UN peacekeepers had made huge disasters in operating justice in many situations through history.
1. As far as peace keeping methods go, the reputation of the United Nations is very pitiable. This is not only because they have not been doing their job to it’s fullest extent, but also because the member states on the security council haven’t given the UN the power it needs if it is to be a successful force in peace keeping methods.
