With the advent of maritime exploration the West changed with regards to economic, political and cultural influence. The Iberians were mainly Portugal and Spain kingdoms. These people became richer from trading, the wealthier you were the more power you had to change the political atmosphere and because they travelled they met other cultures. Foods they ate and the materials other cultures used to make things with were very interesting. When the West started to explore the Islamic world posed a threat so they wanted to find other ways to trade with the East. The motivations for exploration were to expand Christianity which was Catholicism they wanted to convert people in other cultures different parts of the world. Trade was also a motivation they were seeking new routes to the Indian Ocean to the East to continue trade which was a very lucrative business. They also wanted to provide a launching spot in East Africa for trading spots. The Portuguese will threaten a city with invasion on less the local authorities were willing to submit to Portuguese’s authority. Curiosity also played a part they wanted to know more about what is out there, the geography of the world. They wanted to know more about what other cultures did, how they lived, and the foods they ate. They searched for wealth because the merchants thought trading will make them wealthier. So exploring other lands they might find something that might make them wealthy. Glory was also a motivation because the idea of a young man going to the unknown to conquer a new place made them more ambitious. This new venture led to mixed cultures, riches – gold, silver, different kinds of foods, working with different materials, conflicts with the traders, slavery, ... ... middle of paper ... ... The Mughal Empire tolerated the different kinds of religions but the Ottoman Empire did not. (h) The Ottoman Empire was more powerful in the early modern period than any other European or Islamic power because of the found Osman, its location on the Dardanelles strait and also the army. This empire was all about conquest and control and they had a special desire to subdue Christians. In the Ottoman Empire if you were a corrupt official you can get killed they had zero tolerance for corruption. There was a public declaration of laws and taxes to prevent fraudulent laws. They had foot soldiers, archers and calvary soldiers. The cultural Branch made sure that there were Islamic endowments to support schools, hospitals and educations for Muslim youths.
