The Lindbergh Kidnapping
Crimes happen all the time. But when it happens to young children who have no way of defending themselves, and hasn’t lived their life to the fullest, it becomes a whole other thing.
Kids are innocent, and nobody ever wants to see them hurt. That is why it was such a big shock, when the crime of the century was a kidnapping and murder of an infant.
The Lindbergh kidnapping shocked Americans everywhere, and made them realize the possible dangers of celebrities having children who are famous, even before they are born because of their parents. It influenced the way parents choose to raise their children, especially famous children.
That is what happened to the famous aviator, and his wife’s 20 month old baby.
Charles Lindbergh was the first person to fly across the Atlantic Ocean by himself, therefore everyone loved him. When he and his wife Anne Morrow Lindbergh got their first-born baby together, everyone loved him even before he was born. June 22, 1930 Charles Augustus Lindbergh Jr. was born.
From the very start the media wanted the scoop on everything with him; they called him ‘The Eaglet’. He got that name, because the media had already given Mr. Lindbergh the nick name “The Lone Eaglet”, since he was the first one to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean.
Two months before the actual kidnapping Charles Lindbergh, Charles Jr.’s father actually played a prank on the household pretending the baby was kidnapped.
Because he was everyone’s sweetheart, the press was all over the family to get the new pictures. That is why the already famous husband and wife took their now famous child, and moved into another house. They were trying to escape the limelight by building a 20-room house in an exclusive spot...

Everything at the time just came to be just a horrible mix, everyone were scared and very emotional.
This also made everyone realize the danger of letting kids be without supervision at all times, especially when you think about they put the Lindbergh baby on a pedestal, and he still got kidnapping and killed. They couldn’t help but be terrified of what could happen to their kids who weren’t even close to being as fortunate as Charles Jr.

In a way, the fair was a cultural awakening for most of the people of the United States. Suddenly, people from Missouri could tell their friends and families that they had seen Camels, or men from Japan. 27 million people went to see the fair, the vast majority of them Americans. That was a little less than half of the population of the country at this time. That many people seeing cultures and people that many had never heard of would have caused a dramatic effect, transforming the people of this country into a more cultured, worldly people.

Books were illegal, and were burned in the novel by the government enforcers, the firemen. We saw the comparison with the time period in when the novel was written, and post September 11. It is great how the author's work still has great meaning in today's society.
There were many things people didn’t know about Charles Lindbergh and he was a big influence in the 1930’s and gained popularity with his son being kidnapped and his famous flight.
Charles A. Lindbergh was one of the greatest men in aviation history. Lindbergh was always an very out going person. He believed that he was always doing what was best for aviation no matter who he insulted or who he went against. He was a brave man that would often push the limits of his body, technology, and his planes. His goal was to advance aviation. This man did what ever it took because he believed in something greater than himself.
Recently in the news paper in the York area an old distance friend of mine Travis Laughman is accused of beating his girlfriends baby Kellen Koller 2. Kellen Koller died at Hershey Medical Center. My first reaction was “I can’t believe this.” “It can’t be him!” I couldn’t come to terms to hear that an old friend of mine was a murder. Many young parents have a hard time with a crying baby. Not be able to get them to stop so frustration sets in. There are many cases where young parents are so overwhelmed and are exhausted and they just click and start to take there anger out of there babies.
The movie is all about the Joad family and their pursuit to find the American dream. They are a very poor family who lives during the great depression. They decide to leave their home that gets demolished and move to California in order to hopefully get some work, make some money, and eventually one day own land of their own again. The main themes of this movie were the pursuit of the American dream, and how it can be completely different depending on the people. Child abuse is an extremely sensitive subject to many people. But to many people from McMartin Preschool, it is something that will stick with them forever. According to The World Book Encyclopedia, child abuse is “a term that generally refers to mistreatment of a child by a parent of another adult” (Zigler). It could also be “limited to life-threatening physical violence, including severe beating, burns, and strangulation” (Zigler). The horrific McMartin Preschool Trial was crazy and disgusting, leaving children scarred, parents angry, and the accused wronged.
On March 1st, 1932 in a crime that captured the attention of the entire nation, Charles Lindbergh III, was kidnapped from his family’s mansion in Hopewell, New Jersey. Charles Lindbergh III was the 20-month-old son of aviation hero Charles Lindbergh and his wife, Anne. Charles Lindbergh, who became an international celebrity after he flew the first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927, and his wife Anne discovered a handwritten ransom note demanding $50,000 in their son’s empty room. The so-called “nursery note” bore a symbol or logo consisting of three interlocking circles and three small holes, which would later become a distinguishable feature in future extortion letters sent by opportunists trying to cash in on the crime.
On the evening of March 1st, 1932, famous aviator Charles Lindbergh and his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh put their 20 month old baby, Charles “Charlie” Augustus Lindbergh Jr to bed on the second floor of the Lindbergh home near Hopewell, New Jersey. When the child’s nurse, Betty Gow, went to check on Charlie, he was gone. Gow then reported the child’s absence to his parents. The police were contacted immediately and the search for the baby began. While trying to get in touch with the suspect who was leaving handwritten notes, the Lindbergh’s were very close to receiving their precious child. On May 12th, 1932, 72 days after the kidnapping, a decomposed body of a baby was found in the woods near the Lindbergh house. The child was dead and was predicted to have died on the night of the kidnapping as a result of a fractured skull. Charles Lindbergh was able to identify the baby as his own. Now the kidnapping had also become an immoral murder. Bruno Hauptmann is proven guilty through physical evidence, some which is found at the crime scene, his own physical features, and his handwriting. Additionally, his residency and money, specifically gold certificates assist in determining his innocence. Lastly, the testimonies at Hauptmann’s trial lead to one clear statement at last. Through an examination of physical evidence and case details, it can be concluded that Bruno Richard Hauptmann was responsible for the kidnapping of Charles Augustus Lindbergh.
...lowed me to step into the early 1800's of America and get a good, solid grip of what a brave woman went through to secure the freedom of her children. I was able to connect with Harriet Jacobs and her life as she was an incredibly venerable woman with a good heart and a bit of a stubborn streak that a lot of people could relate to in one way or another. This book definitely made a large impact on me and I feel like I will carry a majority of it with me for quite a while, in particular the seven years that Jacobs spent in an cramped "attic" in a shed. She was so close to her children, yet wasn't able to do anything for them for all those years except remain quiet and wait for the time to take action so she could keep them safe. This book has maintained the part of an American classic for many reasons and it was an absolute wonderful and enlightening book to read.
Maryclaire Dale’s article “Kindergarten kidnapper tells girl, ‘I’m not a monster’”, appears in the Bucks County Courier Times and it tells the people of Bucks County how a woman kidnapped a kindergartener from school. In Philadelphia during January of 2013, a girl was taken from her kindergarten classroom and “sexually tortured during a bizarre overnight ordeal.” The girl was an 8-year-old and she had been abducted by “former day care worker Christina Regusters”, who was 22 years old. Christina was sentenced to 40 years to life. The judge called the crime, “a horror show” because the 8-year-old girl was found “shivering under playground equipment” half naked. Christina took full responsibility for what happened and as she was charged with “kidnapping, sexual assault and other charges”
These numbers demand the public’s attention. The pain of just one child should be more than enough to cause a person to jump up and help, much less the pain of more than six thousand children. The U.S. Department of Justice calls children the “perfect victim” for six major reasons. Firstly, since children are typically not emotionally or physically mature, they will try to avoid talking about the abuse. The second reason that they provide is that often times the child does not want to betray the person who is abusing them due to the fact that, many times, the abuser is someone close to them or even related to them. Thirdly, many times there is not enough medical evidence or reliable eye witness accounts for the police to persecute a sexual predator. Many people claim that the child did not know any better, or that he was brought up with the idea that this behavior is acceptable. Although there is some truth to these allegations, the reality of this social issue is far more complex. Therefore we ask the question, "Should childhood offenders of capital crimes be treated as adults?" To begin with, numerous reasons for why a child acts in the manner he exhibits and why he continues to exert such dangerous and even fatal schemes. Recent research shows that factors ranging from inherited personality traits to chemical imbalances and damages suffered in the womb can increase the odds that a child will become violent (Johnson 234).
It also provided details about the Holocaust like the "Final Solution" which was the Nazis plan to eliminate all the Jewish people, as well as the "Death march" which was when both boys were put into the gas chamber because the was ending, and lastly the book may also be considered an artifact in the National Museum because it symbolizes the African American History about
Through the usage of the three appeals, Lee was able to inform the viewers of the bombing, those who lost their lives, and the history surrounding the area through credible, logical and emotional means. Lee showed ethos through newspaper clips, pictures, the expert testimony of those who were interviewed, use of KKK pictures and the mugshot of Robert Chambliss. The outcome of this film was for viewers to be informed of the fateful day and how it changed what some families in particular felt forever. This bombing was one of many that occurred in Birmingham and its effects are still felt throughout the area.
