Asperger’s syndrome is a developmental syndrome. It is said that every 2 out of 10,000 children are affected by this disorder. Asperger’s is mostly diagnosed in young children. Parents usually recognize symptoms of this disorder in their kids around the time they turn 3 years old. Asperger’s is sometimes considered a form of autism. I find this syndrome to be very intriguing. I’m going to enlighten you with more information about Asperger’s and a few real life cases of it.

The symptoms of Asperger’s are some of the following. They usually are socially and emotionally inappropriate. They lack the ability of being able to interact with other individuals successfully. They have a peculiar use of language and speech. They sometimes speak in a monotone, or in a very formal way. They also take jokes or figurative speech in a literal way, instead of the way it was intended to be taken. They also show OCD characteristics like having repetitive routines or rituals. They could also have clumsy motor movements. Children can show some of these symptoms as early as infancy. Crawling, walking late, and clumsiness can be a signal that they could potentially have this disorder. A difference of Asperger’s and Autism is that, children with Asperger’s keep their early language skills, unlike those with autism. Research done with children who have Asperger’s show they carry their problems of socializing and communicating with people into adulthood. The research also shows that they sometimes develop other psychiatric disorders through childhood on top of having Asperger’s.
